Ooooooh, that’s better than my own suggestion.

Wasn't expecting there to be a women's version of the Owen Hart Cup, so that's a welcome surprise.

Is it just going to be a regular single elim tournament or is this going to be a version of the G1 (probably in smaller scale)?

They should call the mens The Owen Tournament and the women's The Hart Tournament.

Serena Deeb had better win the Women’s Cup. It makes perfect sense..

I'm sure it'll be good, but man, it really feels like tournaments have swallowed up the booking in AEW, especially the women's booking.

If it gets the women on TV in meaningful ways more, then so be it.

Doing it for both men and women is awesome. I'd love to see a G1-style, round-robin tournament instead of an elimination-style one. It'd make the Owen Cup different from all of the other tournaments AEW does and I'd really love to see how AEW would book one. It doesn't have to be done over such a compact and intense timescale as the G1 either. You could get months of meaningful and fun matches out of it.

I'm really curious to see the format and how long it's going to take. Like, if it's a special event over a few days, a marathon, round robin, single elimination, etc.
Personally hoping for a round robin tournament. I love NJPW's G1 Climax tournament and would love to see AEW do something similar.

That’s why I’m hoping it’s a round robin tournament, they’re currently running a women’s single elimination tournament and just finished a men’s one a month ago. If they’re gonna go right into this, I’d much prefer a round robin

Really hoping for a round robin tourney here, and I absolutely agree that Deeb should be a frontrunner for the girls

They’re single elimination tournaments starting in May and culminating at Double or Nothing

Owen was born in May and died in May and as such, the tournament will start and end in May.

Owen was born in May and died in May and as such, the tournament will start and end in May. That's really appropriate, wow Alsk assuming its single elimination then. Wonder if we'll see some new faces in it..

They’re single elimination tournaments starting in May and culminating at Double or Nothing Don't take this for one second as me dismissing the legitimate sentiment behind the tournaments, because it isn't. BUT... I can't help but be a little bit underwhelmed that it's going to be two stock-standard single-elimination tournaments. A lot of people talk about doing a round-robin tournament because nobody else with such a high profile does one outside of New Japan, and it just could've been something a little bit different to get to the same endpoints. I'm sure I'll forget about it once we find out the general gist of who's going to be in the thing (types of wrestlers, free agents, etc.).

Would've preferred a round robin tournament but AEW doesn't tour like New Japan, they can't just do the G1 in a month like New Japan can.

The timing around May is certainly such that this could be a big way to introduce a bunch of new roster members at once.
Or it could be a solid mix of whoever is around and a big part of the show at the time, either way.
