Two things.
1 - That sounds awful.
2 - Unless you have Shanky run the gauntlet and beat all 11 of the other guys, then it's amazing.
For real though it is amazing how consistently gauntlet matches are the, "In case you can't be assed to write an actual show break glass," option these days.

This is a mad easy way to turn Zayn into a babyface again. The moment he beats like 2 guys he's going to instantly be cheered so yeah, we'll see what happens.
I'll also say this: Sami needs to take that belt from Nakamura. Man's not defending shit. He's boring as IC Champion. Even more boring than he was before.

It's a good way to kill time. They're taping next week's Smackdown as we speak, so it's a good way of getting everyone on the roster in one match without tiring the crowd.

Gauntlet matches basically mean "we're too lazy to write more than half a show"

If you're gonna do one this size, you need to have 4 guys start it out. When one dude gets eliminated, send the next guy in. That's the only way I could think of to make it somewhat fair to the first two guys, cause there's no way someone should be expected to run through 11 opponents.

Also the hell sense does it make that Holland beat Cesaro then Cesaro's in the match but he isn't?

I like Guantlet matches but 12 people? I like Gauntlet matches too but I feel like if they just tweaked it we could get a bonus Royal Rumble instead. I *love* Royal Rumbles!

It's pretty clear the gameplan is to eat up time on a taped throwaway Holiday edition of Smackdown, though. Especially since they can use strategically placed commercial breaks to stretch out the length of the gauntlet match.

It's unfortunate in that gauntlet matches can be cool. They just have a lot of problems in how they're generally used.
I guess I am not really mad or anything here, just since it has been a sec since the last one. I guess it gets people on the card and in a way that is bound to show them off a bit more than a battle royal.

Impact did a similar match earlier this year, a Triple Threat Revolver Match, where it was 3 guys starting out & whenever one was eliminated, another guy entered the match.

Why single out Cesaro? Shanky lost this week too and you want him to run the table. Didn't esaro beat Holland last week, making them 1-1 against each other? *shrug* Yeah, but that wasn’t last week… I think. I haven’t been watching SmackDown a lot lately. For argument’s sake, here are the win/loss streaks and 2021 TV records for the 12 people in the match: +1: Erik (10-12-0), Ivar (11-9-0) -1: Angel (23-14-0), Humberto (12-17-1), Mansoor (26-13-0), Sami Zayn (8-26-0), Sheamus (18-21-1) -3: Cesaro (16-17-1), Drew Gulak (3-29-0), Shanky (2-6-0) -5: Jinder Mahal (5-13-0) -7: Ricochet (15-23-4) Only two of 12 go into this match as last start winners. ONLY THREE HAVE RECORDS ABOVE .500 FOR THE YEAR. And Ridge Holland doesn’t really stand out above them, he’s 5-6-0 on a +1 streak.
