Is there not a way for them to make their own online merch store without PWTees? I'm sure they can. It's a lot of start up costs I imagine so it was always financially easier to use PWTees which already had a base of operations for them to use. And that was especially the case when they first started and the revenue streams were lower with the original TNT deal. It might be easier to do now but I'm not sure it would be worth it to them, even with this issue. I know I've just decided to buy shirts at live events but not everyone can do that. I've always wondered if they should just buy PWTees if they're willing to sell and then just expanding the existing operations. But regardless, they might launch their own system after they get their new TV deal which should increase their revenue dramatically. They've gotta take control of their t-shirts and just do them in house. Cause like with this data breach and how PWTees has handled it, how many people are never gonna buy from PWTees again? There are multiple shirts I'd love to get, but with how PWTees has handled this and been silent on the matter, I don't want to order from them.

AEW should certainly be able to get contacts from WB or other partners if they need a new merch partner.

PWTees was notified Nov. 1 that they had been compromised. NOVEMBER 1. 7 weeks to notify people is absolutely unacceptable

When they first became aware of the issue couldn’t they have issued a general statement?
Like, “Uh oh spaghettios! We goofed and now some of your information MIGHT be compromised.”
Only you know. Maybe a little more official sounding.

Maybe a little more official sounding. Yeah. Had they sent out a message November 2nd. I'd cancel my card I bought my Jervis shirt with and wouldn't have fraud charges on the 7th. It took my bank three weeks to give me back those funds.

Yeah I hate to tell them this, but federal agencies generally do not prohibit companies from notifying their customers about data breaches. Especially ones with sensitive information. They are just setting themselves up for one hell of a class action lawsuit.

I've never used ShopAEW before, but their site is practically identical to PWTees and is "powered" by them. Do they use different customer account databases or something? Because I guess that'd be one way where anything that affected PWT wouldn't necessarily hit AEW.
Also, sending a general warning about a data breech via email to customers would not need to rely on a completed investigation. That would've given people time to cancel cards or warn their banks about potential fraudulent charges. And probably make this fancy identity theft insurance less necessary.

Calling bullshit on this: I don't doubt that that's what PWTees told AEW and thus that's what AEW told SRS, and both AEW and SRS probably feel they have no reason to distrust PWTees, but that's bullshit. I have first hand experience with PWTees' customer service (specifically their Crates) where they bended the truth to the point of lying.

In spite of seeming like they run the non-WWE pro wrestling merch game, PWTees is at heart a smaller business. With how poorly they handled this, they're destroying the trust their customers had in them and that's going to hurt them significantly. It sucks, too, because their business model is a big part of how a lot of popular indie wrestlers can afford to stay independent without feeling pressured to sign to a WWE or an AEW. But they shat the bed here and not only hurt themselves, but their wrestler clients. Meanwhile, if they were more transparent, it might've hurt badly for a bit, but they'd at least still have the trust of their customer base.
If I was AEW, I'd start looking into other options for business partners.

It's almost impressive how PWTees has continued to play this wrong every single step of the way.
No critical thinking, no customer care, just vibes.

AEW needs a new t-shirt partner. Is there not a way for them to make their own online merch store without PWTees? I think it was less that they couldn't and more that they wanted to support a third party that had long standing relationships with their employees. And I'd say that was really a pretty good arrangement until PWTees showed it was amateur hour as far as how they handle their security. Now I don't know how AEW can justify not doing it themselves, or at least not taking their business elsewhere.
