Most of the time back in the day most of the wrestlers kayfabe weights looked to be at least close to accurate. Maybe padded a bit but not much. However what are some you can think of that clearly were exaggerated quite a bit. Like for instance Rick Rude being announced at 251. With how lean he was and how thin his legs were there's no way. By comparison Jake Roberts was billed at 249 despite looking heavier and a little taller as well.
The Mountie being announced at 256 was another "yeah right" one. 235 to 240 I could buy but 256? As Gorilla would say highly unlikely.

Feels like we're only just leaving the period of most smaller wrestlers having their weights exaggerated to just about or just over 200 pounds. And that practice still isn't gone.

Probably because most of the wrestlers are so much smaller now that it doesn't matter. In AEW if someone is like 190 they don't have to beef them up because generally most of the roster is around that size so it's really just average. It's not like in the Attitude Era when they would put guys like Jeff Hardy up to like 218 or whatever to seem more legit when in reality he probably wasn't even 200.

Hulk Hogan always had enough integrity to describe his famous opponents' actual weights.
And if you ask 700 pound Andre the Giant, he'd tell you the same thing.

The 2 hour weight between Sami's entrance and the main event on Smackdown a few weeks ago.

My personal rule-of-thumb is to remove (at least) 25 lbs and 2 inches from everyone to get more accurate numbers, and even then it's way off in some cases.

TNA lied about Abyss being 350 pounds so many times that dude went up to 350 for real.

I’m sure whatever 1-2-3 Kid got announced at when he started. Same as Jeff Hardy when he was 16 on Raw.

I don't see the problem here. Crash was a legit 400lbs. You just have to look at him...

Crash came to mind early on but that was the joke. Even as a kid it confused me how someone like Hogan (303 pounds) or Barbarian (even 300 pounds) kept the same weight. Or how both Demolition were viewed as "well over that 300 pound mark." Then you have someone like the beloved John Tenta who was a hundred pounds lighter looking from the early 90s, said he was a "500 pound man" to Mean Gene.

Daniel Bryan being arbitrarily billed as 210 is the first thing that came to mind. Almost as ridiculous as Adam Cole being 6'0

It seemed like they pretty much never altered the announced weights. What they were announced at when they came in was what they were pretty much always announced at. Only exception I can think is Boss Man who was always announced at 357 pounds when he first came in but then I think sometime in early 1991 was dropped down to 337 pounds after his drastic weight loss. I don't know for sure because they didn't wrestle a lot of singles matches but I don't think Ax or Smash were billed at over 300. I think Smash was 285 I believe. I think that was just Gorilla exaggerating like he would always do. Like when for some reason when he would get so pissed off for some reason when Bundy or Akeem was announced at 458 or 457 and go "give me a break he's over that 500 pound mark. Like he did realize that 458 pounds was really freaking big didn't he? I mean if Bundy was 500 pounds at about 6'4" there's no way he would be able to move and pivot around like he could. He would barely be able to move. Also since you brought it up I always liked how Finkel wound announce Barbarian at "an even 300 pounds". Kind of made him unique in a different way.

A strange case is that of Christian, who WWE would bill as 5'10 despite him being about 6'0 or maybe 6'1. I am not sure why they did that, but it lingered for ages.

There was a pretty awkward exchange between Gorilla and Jesse at Wrestlemania VI, you should remember, where Gorilla said Akeem was "well over that 500 pound mark" then Jesse said 450 and then Gorilla seemed like he knew he was called out for his silliness and said "I believe it was announced at 455." He also didn't do himself any favors with the "oh, THAT Axl" comment. It amazes me both guys were like 14 years apart, it seemed like 20-30 years difference to me as a kid.

I do remember that exchange. Jesse could be really as a matter of fact and could put Gorilla in his place when he would be talking out his ass like that. Speaking of Gorilla and his great weight exaggerations it reminds of probably of his worst offense at the 1989 Survivor Series when Jesse is putting over the size of the Canadian Earthquake and Gorilla actually speculates that he weighs 540 pounds. No joke. Gorilla did seem very not with it when it came to pop culture. As far as the age difference between him and Jesse seeming like more then it was it didn't help that Jesse would playfully tease him a lot about being a old timer. They had a really funny exchange that sticks with me for some reason at the 1988 Survivor Series when I think they are talking about Rick Rude's tights and it leads to them talking about the options Gorilla had for tights back when he was wrestling. Gorilla: "We had black, blue, and green and that was it" Jesse: "Oh real colorful" Gorilla: "And you could also get one with a stripe" Jesse: "So is that what the real outlandish guys would wear?"
