You mean to tell me that a 76 year old out of touch billionaire and his cronies who are all in their 50’s or 60’s might not know what appears to “young people” in 2021.
Who could have possibly seen this coming? 😉

Funny thing about this: Does anyone remember how Old FCW crowds used to be? We've turned the clock back for real.

The irony that NXT 2.0 is trying to be as young and hip as possible yet the only thing it's attracting are people more likely to break their hips continues not to be lost on me...

THEIR SHOW GOT OLDER. They tried to make a radical youth appeal show and it ended up driving their demos higher. You can't make this shit up.

It does feel like something or other clearly has to change about NXT, but I don't know what it is or if they've just poisoned the well too badly or what. There is clearly a potential audience there - f***ing Rampage got over double the demo they did this week and it's in basically the worst possible timeslot - but not only are they failing to attract it but they're actively pushing it away.

They’re also trying to do both at the same. The cartoon gimmicks and Nickelodeon reject presentation, but at the same time being so blatantly sexual with Mandy and co (also the Elektra Lopez/Xyon Quinn stuff as well I guess). And it’s working in neither case.

Scary thing is we can presume that this audience has always been there but the ones they pushed away with this reband were actually the ones that were skewing them younger lol and that had to be a pretty f***ing significant ammount for them to be sittin at what the median age of 50 prior to the reboot to now almost into the mid 60s and it aint even been a year of this yet.
Pretty wild.

WWE not caring about it actively when it became apparent it wasn't going to hold AEW down hurt it, then the rebrand seemed to kill the dedicated 18-49 they still had. Trying to be both the attitude era of sex appeal and the new generation of wacky ridiculous presentation and gimmicks at once isn't drawing a new crowd, it's just driving away the Black and Gold fans while old diehards are the only ones seemingly still tuning in. It's just really hilarious, Vince took over with his vision of the future and what he thinks young people like, and the world has actively rejected it over what HHH himself built the brand to be. I hope that stings lol.

One on hand, you might think WWE isn't as interested in their ratings given it's just a developmental show now. But...they're clearly trying. The rebrand was done for a reason. It wasn't necessary if you were just going to start featuring more PC recruits. It was done to build a new, younger audience. And if your goal was to feature new talent, you wouldn't be bringing in AJ Styles. They either have internal pressure or pressure from USA to do more to get the numbers up, hence AJ and Riddle being on the show.

I like Bryan Alvarez’s theory that because it’s a bunch of 60+ men writing a show they thing appeals to a younger crowd that it’s actually drawing an older crowd because the show makes them feel young

They noticeable changed the way the shows were put together and paced very obviously. It just isn't bearing fruit for the time being. Maybe it will if they build on it, but that takes time and direction, and I don't really get the impression they have the latter.

Thing is, though, where the f*** do you find 20-year-old wrestling bookers?

I mean, personally I couldn’t do it, at 35, but I intentionally keep myself arms reach or further away from a lot of modern pop culture. But you have someone like Paige under contract, I’d be trying to get her on the booking team for this exact reason. She’s young and understands modern culture

I mean, it’s less that they need 20 something bookers as 20 something writers to get a show together with someone to rubber stamp it which is basically, like, 95% of writing teams on TV shows in Hollywood.

I want NXT to start chasing memes, but they're really outdated and forced memes so, like, next week Harland has a planking gimmick.

Sorry, I figured bookers and writers were largely interchangeable, verbiage-wise.
