I though David Otunga was going to be a future WWE champion when he was on NXT.

I didn't think he'd be a main eventer or anything, but I figured Otunga would stick around because "Wrestling Lawyer" seems like WWE's wet dream, given how often they've done contract signings, clauses, restraining orders, etc, in storylines. Maybe Otunga was just a few years too late, given the hardon WWF/WWE has historically had for those.

I was extremely sure that Nakamura would win the title when he feuded with AJ. I thought it would happen at Mania and then when he turned, I was like...well it's definitely happening now! But nope.

I thought Alex Riley and Wade Barrett would have won the title.

I thought Richie Steamboat and to a lesser extent Reid Flair and Cody Hall would have fruitful careers.
Unfortunately, that has definitely not come to pass. I suppose Hall still has time. He's only 30, and obviously has some connections. I've heard he's had something of an attitude, which, probably hasn't done him any favors, but if he can iron that out, maybe his break will come yet.

I thought after buying WCW's IP that we would be seeing Starrcade, Halloween Havoc, Bash at the Beach and some of its bigger shows continued as part of WWE's annual PPV rotation, because why not?

As a kid I always thought guys like Skinner or Bastion Booger or Mantaur would be sure fire main eventers. I saw the debut of Xanta Klaus at the In Your House and thought he would be a guy to win the heavyweight title. I remember asking my friend who saw a house show the next week, if Xanta Klaus was on the show because he was now the most important wrestler to me.

I seriously thought they were building to Tye Dillinger beating Bobby Roode for the NXT title circa 2016-2017.

I thought Dustin Rhodes would sell out and be the mystery partner on the Million Dollar Team.

Even after it was announced I was sure that Undertaker v Shane McMahon wasn’t going to happen at Wrestlemania 32. Shane was like 50, a non-wrestler and had been gone for years. How could he possibly have a believable hell in a cell match with Undertaker without it being terrible…
When Vince announced Undertaker was wrestling on his behalf I thought a week or two later we would learn there was a clause in the contract which allowed Shane to also have someone battle on his behalf and he would bring in Cena or Sting (if medically cleared) to wrestle Undertaker instead with Vince/Shane in each corner.
…Instead they actually went ahead and had Shane go 30 minutes and be competitive with Undertaker and it was just as bad as I imagined.

I thought Dustin Rhodes would sell out and be the mystery partner on the Million Dollar Team. That would have made sense, especially with Dusty leaving shortly and Dustin was on the roster but not scheduled for the PPV.

I would still tune into Raw from time to time then. I was late, but they had announced the match. I had to go back and see how such a thing could possibly have happened. I guess they got at least one viewer with that madness.

I was absolutely convinced that Triple H was losing to CM Punk at Night of Champions 2011, not because it was the correct decision, but because Hunter had just retired, & I figured he would point to this as the moment he 'made' CM Punk (who was white hot at the time). Trips would then take credit for all the success Punk would have in his career.
Looking back, I really ought to have know better.

Undertaker Vs Sting at Wrestlemania
The match would been dogshit but for the entrance and spectacle alone, those two could have worked out of a decent match without it being too sloppy

I thought Flair would get a "thank you" title reign.
I believed this until they had him get squashed by Umaga, who immediately felt like a midcard act to me. He obviously got pushed more than that but my feelings never changed.

It really should have, the fact that it didn't cut the entire heel turn off at the knees... doubly so by their constant like double countouts and double DQ's... I was convinced that it would somehow turn into Taker vs. Cena... it just made all the sense in the world when Vince pulled the someone wrestling on my behalf reveal... but nope...

Then when Taker vs. Cena at Mania finally did happen, it was the equivalent of an obnoxious teen calling out an elderly guy for a fight when he just wanted to relax.

How I envisioned the Daniel Bryan WM30 storyline playing out was that HHH would win by egregious underhanded means (a crooked ref or something) and be put into the title match. But Vince would come out to put Bryan in and make it a 4-way, needling HHH by specifically saying that was “best for business.”
