Should have Paul Bearer have had changed his gimmick right after his heel turn at Summerslam 1996. The Paul Bearer we got in spring of 97, the red hair and the more serious way of talking, should we have gotten that right away.
For a heel to Paul Bearer to still be the same goofy Paul Bearer we know as a face, did not make him and whoever he managed as a serious threat to me.

He pretty much turned back into a Percy Pringle variant while still being called Paul Bearer.

Paul Bearer was always the real Undertaker. I mean that's legitimately what he was. Both in gimmick and his personal certification. He wasn't a pallbearer
Mark Callaway despite being called the Undertaker, was actually a gravedigger in terms of his gimmick

I'll submit that the '97 Paul Bearer should have been what we got immediately in '91. And he shouldn't have been called Paul Bearer. This would have spared me six-plus years of weird side-eye from people who couldn't believe I was watching a man with a pun name painted up like Gomez Addams and orgasming over an urn.

Would have saved me from my dad talking like Paul Bearer to me at every funeral where I was asked to be a pallbearer.
