So what characters from fiction you more like to see redemption stories and maybe have their on happy ending or at least show you they might be turning a corner and change their lives around. The stepsisters from Cinderella or the other 4 Golden Ticket winners from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Who is more redeemable, obviously the stepsisters, because that has actually happened a few times, heck there are some versions in which at least one of them if not both villains at all. (Confessions of a Ugly Stepsister, Ever After). I have seen a version of the Chocolate Factory, in which any of the 4 have a change of heart and repent for their actions. Maybe one of their parents perhaps change for the better, but not the actually kids.
For me, while I love when they show depth to the stepsister characters, and whenever Ella forgives them and they get their own happy ending it is actually earned, and not just Ella being a saint that she forgives anyone. But I have seen or read it before. I want to see at least one of the 4 Golden Ticket winners get character development. If I had to pick one, Violet. She is very competitive that is her own "sin", that is more fixable than the others. Though is Augustus really bad of a kid, his "sin" is more hurting himself than anyone else.

The step sisters are more or less adults correct? Around the same age as Cinderella who is marriage age. So they should be adult enough to realize they are wrong.
The kids in Charlie are, well kids. Their bad behavior is the fault of their parents.

The Ticket winners were children and all clearly had 1 major character flaw. That's about it. They are just stupid kids.
The step sisters were overtly mean and nasty and loved every second of pain they dished out over the years. The only story i want to see about them is a Predator shows up and kills them all.

It is sketchy. In those days, a women in her 20's is a old maid. Marrying age is 16 or maybe younger. Slippery slope.

Well if I can play devil's adver, if we can blame the plays for the shitty behavior of the Golden Ticket winners. We can blame society and it's pressure it puts on women and beauty. In the case of the stepsister, they are at worst plain looking and that is considered "ugly", and because they are not as hot as Ella, they are "ugly", so maybe their chip on their shoulder is because of the pressure of others especially men. How many story of love triangles have I read in which two women are fighting over a man, and don't see that the man they are fighting over is a two timer to begin with, and instead of turning their venom on him where it belongs, they turn it on each other. Remember these classic stories are mostly written by men.

A business should not test the morality of people.

I am shocked Disney has not attempted to do a live action film about the latter.

1 of the stepsisters did get a redemption arc in the sequels. So that basically wins by default.

Notice how Grandpa Joe gets away blameless again.

the 4 ticket winners because they're still children at the end of the day. the stepsisters are grown ass adults, and at that point it's a lot harder to change things.

Here is my pitch.
The Chocolate War (working title). It is a sort of redemption story (like Cobra Kai) where Augustus, Veruca, Mike, and Violet grow into successful businesspeople, while Charlie turns Wonka into a corporate monstrosity. (Sort of how Disney evolved from Walt’s dream into the behemoth it now is). The “losers” join forces to first convince Charlie to change his way and when that fails, to wrest control of Wonka away from him. Maybe we can even add a little backstory about Uncle Joe being the one who started Charlie down his path. Worse still would be if Wonka tried to pull Charlie back years earlier but got murdered by Joe.

If it's the Chocolate War, will there be a scene with a boxing match where the lights get cut and one dude gets hurt in the darkness?
