Not even specifically talking about Azeez Azeezing it up, just the whole thing feels like a giant pile of, "We don't know what the f*** we're trying to do other than fill up TV time."
And the especially mindblowing thing to me is that this was apparently on purpose given AJ / Apollo leaked before the show even started. So why the fakeout with Azeez?

I still think it was a rib on AJ.

Whether it was always planned to be AJ/Apollo or not... Azeez's "sell" of the Forearm post-match showed they made the right last minute decision...

I genuinely can't think of another time a match was changed commercial break that specific way.
Maybe after AJ had to face Omos yesterday they were like "lol how about Azeez now"

I mean, his song says it all, they didn't want none. I get it.

Ok, so AJ Comes out and trash talks Omos... midway through he sees Waller and starts a promo off with him...
gets interrupted by Apollo who has Azeez challenge AJ...
AJ Accepts... we go to commercial
ok...
we come back to a 10 minute Carmella interview that went on about really nothing and could have easily been literally anywhere else on the show...
then cut back to ringside where the match that people made their entrance for like 20 minutes ago... IS JUST STARTING... and it's Apollo and AJ with a throw away line about Apollo giving Azeez the night off...
What's so hard to follow about any of that?

Maybe they spent those 10 minutes so Azeez could practice pins in front of a crowd, and the big lug hurt himself so... that's all I got.

You have a once in a generation talent like AJ Styles here, and this is how they have used him for months.

The team was fun for awhile, but I do agree Styles is starting to get the point where it feels like WWE's running out of gas with him. Idk if AJ will ever leave and go somewhere else at this stage of his career... but the fact they seem to be putting him in an NXT program to save the shows ratings is enough of an indication to me that they've run out of stuff to do with him that inherently matters right now.

AJ said when the WWE offered him his last contract that it was going to be his last Wrestling Contract. I mean it's wrestling and people "Retire" like every month... but I could see AJ being done done for a while, dude's basically done everything in Wrestling at this point.

Well... when he signed that contract, there was a company that was barely around, with an entirely new world title for him to possibly win... but hey who knows!

I could easily believe AJ's winding it down if only because before the tag run he was definitely on the downward slope for awhile. I'm thinking back to the Ricochet matches from a couple of years ago and how slow and dull those were any time AJ was the one on offense. I think the eased schedule due to COVID bought him some time but now that he's back on the road full time I'd have to imagine he'll probably end up broken down again sooner rather than later.

The fact one of the greatest wrestlers of all time had to pretty much babysit a giant stiff like Omos all year is yet another crime against wrestling to me.

AJ looked legit ticked off when Azeez no-sold.
Honestly of them all Crews was the best choice. But it was so convoluted how we got there.
Also supposedly AJ vs. Omos at the house show was, not good, either.

It was 3am and I understood none of it. Bar the fact EVERYONE hates Grayson Waller. That bit, I get.
Can we rush through this Omos rubbish and get to AJ/Edge already? Ta.

He wrestles in the style he does and has done so for around 23 years, with him having four kids at home and being in his mid-40s. Yeah, if he hangs it up, I can't say I'd be super shocked, especially if he's been smart with his money. He's been relatively lucky in terms of major injuries, so why risk it? He's been a world champion many times, wrestled all over the world and in many companies, and for about 15 years of it, he's done so in a pretty mainstream fashion. I'm sure there's more he could do, but he's had a more than full career as it is.

You have a once in a generation talent like AJ Styles here, and this is how they have used him for months. It really reminds me of Jericho’s later WWE booking, he’s either pushed as a champion or he’s a goofball in the midcard but there’s basically no middle ground. Neither one is a guy they ever feel the need to protect

At least Shawn Michaels got some really cool feuds later on in his career. There’s so many guys on the roster that AJ could be working with and it be awesome.
