At least with the wedding, people knew they were getting something significant in the main event as opposed to some match where you know you're getting a BS finish.

Well, I believe that many viewers don't watch pro wrestling because it's a combat sport, but rather for the theatrics. So this doesn't surprise me.

Yeah, because when I want to watch a combat sport, I'd rather see a wedding than a fight. Wait, what? Yeah, personal preference here, but I have never, ever understood the appeal of wrestling weddings. Macho Man and Elizabeth’s was at least done like it was for real and then served as a springboard for the Jake Roberts feud afterwards, and I guess the Test/Stephanie one kind of worked since it was the first really visible one since then and came with the big Triple H swerve so at least it had novelty, but the rest is “someone will interrupt, someone will get embarrassed, it won’t actually mean anything for the stories or characters involved but I guess you’ll get to see them in tuxedos and fancy dresses.” Don’t get it at all. …ok, in fairness, I DO get it for meme potential, since without a wrestling wedding angle we never get “IS IT FRIGGIN’ HAWT IN HERE, OR IS IT JUST ME?”
