Today in Ring of Honor History: June 8 - 2007: Ring of Honor held "A Fight at the Roxbury" in Roxbury Crossing, MA. In the main event, Jay Briscoe challenged Takeshi Morishima for the ROH World Championship, his first shot at the title since 2004 ["At Our Best" - 3/13/04]. Mark Briscoe, meanwhile, continued their feud with Kevin Steen, facing him in a singles match. With Austin Aries gone from the promotion, Delirious stepped in to team with The Resilience against common enemy the No Remorse Corps in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Claudio Castagnoli won his first shot at the ROH World Championship with a victory of Chris Hero, Mike Quackenbush and Nigel McGuinness in a Four Corner Survival match. BJ Whitmer faced Brent Albright in a singles match, continuing their rivalry. Bryan Danielson took on Jimmy Rave, Matt Sydal wrestled El Generico, and Pelle Primeau faced Eddie Edwards. - 2013: ROH held "Live and Let Die" in Columbus, OH. Eddie Edwards received what ended up being his last shot at the ROH World Championship, challenging Jay Briscoe for the title. Kevin Steen continued his quest of facing his former S.C.U.M. teammates, first fighting Cliff Compton in an Empty Arena match, and then taking on Rhino on the actual show. Compton also pulled double duty, teaming with Jimmy Jacobs and Rhett Titus in a "No Rules" match against BJ Whitmer, Jay Lethal and Michael Elgin. Rounding out the ROH/S.C.U.M. matches, Mark Briscoe took on Steve Corino's favorite wrestler, Matt Hardy. ACH and Tadarius Thomas looked to win a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championship, facing reDRagon in a Proving Ground match. Davey Richards wrestled Cedric Alexander, Roderick Strong took on QT Marshall, and Adam Cole faced Caprice Coleman. - 2021: On Week by Week, Survival of the Fittest 2021 continued with Brian Johnson and Sledge facing each other in a first round match.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 9 - 2007: Ring of Honor held "Domination" in Philadelphia, PA. Takeshi Morishima racked up another successful defense of the ROH World Championship, this time against perennial contender Roderick Strong. Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuinness had one of their most highly regarded singles matches against each other, which was so good, fans had to wait even longer than usual to see it as it was cut off the DVD and aired instead as the main event of ROH's second pay-per-view, "Driven" [taped 6/23/07 - aired 9/21/07]. After an impressive showing in their match against The Briscoes for the ROH World Tag Team Championship at "Respect Is Earned" [5/12/07], Claudio Castagnoli and Matt Sydal were each granted a rematch with a partner of their choosing. For his match, Castagnoli chose his former partner Chris Hero, reuniting the Kings of Wrestling for one night to challenge The Briscoes for the titles in a Two out of Three Falls match. Matt Cross faced Davey Richards to continue the feud between The Resilience and No Remorse Corps, while Delirious continued his own feud against the NRC by taking on Rocky Romero. BJ Whitmer's losing streak continued, falling to Brent Albright in a Four Corner Survival match with Erick Stevens and Jimmy Rave. Forever rivals Daizee Haze and Lacey wrestled to a time limit draw. Kevin Steen and El Generico took on CHIKARA's Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw, while Matt Sydal faced Hallowicked. And in a pre-show match, former Special K members Deranged and Azrieal reunited to faced Gran Akuma and future ROH World Champion Michael Elgin. - 2021: On Women's Division Wednesday, former WOH World Champion Sumie Sakai teamed up Miranda Alize against Trish Adora and Mazzerati. And after being kicked out of La Facción Ingobernable, Amy Rose was back with a new monster, Max the Impaler.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 10 - 2006: Ring of Honor partnered with Full Impact Pro for "Impact of Honor" in Orlando, FL…which wasn't much of an interpromotional show as they were sister promotions and shared much of the same roster. Colt Cabana challenged FIP Heavyweight Champion Bryan Danielson for the ROH World Championship, while Fast and Furious challenged Austin Aries and Roderick Strong for the ROH Tag Team Championship. The rest was a regular FIP show. The only other match billed as a "Ring of Honor" match was newcomer Davey Richards, representing both ROH and FIP, against Dragon Gate's Shingo Takagai.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 11 - 2016: Ring of Honor continued the "Road to Best in the World 2016" tour in Hopkins, MN. The show saw the start of Tag Wars 2021, featuring a new format from previous years: three Three-Way opening round matches, with the winners meeting the next night in a Three-Way finals. War Machine, Moose and Lio Rush, and Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser met in the first opening round match, The All-Night Express, Roppongi Vice and The Young Bucks met in the second opening round match, and The Briscoes, reDRagon and ROH World Champion Jay Lethal and Roderick Strong met in the third opening round match. Michael Elgin continued to reform himself from his heel ways in a match against Kamaitachi. Juice Robinson made his main show debut, facing Dalton Castle. Alex Shelley and ACH had their only match against each other in ROH, followed by hosting a meeting of the mutual admiration society. Chris Sabin faced Will Ferrara, Cheeseburger took on Donovan Dijak, and Steve Corino put BJ Whitmer on notice ahead of their long awaited showdown at "Best in the World 2016" [6/24/16]. - 2021: ROH aired their latest episode of television from Baltimore, MD. Former ROH World Tag Team Champions Dragon Lee and Kenny King of La Facción Ingobernable challenged The Foundation's Rhett Titus and Tracy Williams in a rematch for the titles, this time in a match held under Pure Rules. Also competing in a rematch were Eli Isom and Dak Draper, who after wrestling to a time limit draw on Ep. #501 [4/23/21] were now meeting in the opening round of Survival of the Fittest 2021.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 12 - 2004: Ring of Honor held "World Title Classic" in Dayton, OH. The show was named after the ROH World Championship match, which saw champion Samoa Joe and challenger CM Punk wrestle a one hour draw for the title. In addition to being the first match of their trilogy, it was also Punk's first shot at the title, and the first one hour draw in ROH, of which there would be many, many more. In recognition of Joe's dominant reign as champion, he was presented with a new ROH World Championship belt by Les Thatcher. Unfortunately the new belt didn't even last one show, as after the match Joe and Punk were too tired to stop Homicide from stealing it. The World title match, however, was not the main event of the show. That spot went to the first Ultimate Endurance match, a Four-Way Tag Team Elimination match with each fall having a different stipulation. The inaugural Ultimate Endurance saw The Prophecy emerge victorious over the Briscoe Brothers, Austin Aries and Jack Evans of Generation Next, and Colt Cabana and Ace Steel of the Second City Saints. The match would end up being The Prophecy's last stand, as after the show Dan Maff convinced BJ Whitmer to abandon both "The Prophecy" name and Allison Danger, as it was apparent Christopher Daniels was not returning to ROH. Danger didn't take such disrespect lying down, starting a feud with Maff and Whitmer that lasted until February ["Third Anniversary Celebration: Part 1" - 2/19/05]. In addition to competing in the main event, Austin Aries pulled double duty by first teaming with Alex Shelley and Roderick Strong in a victory over Matt Stryker, John Walters and Jimmy Rave. The loss ended up being the final straw for Rave, who after having only two victories in a total of sixteen matches, was dropped from the roster. The New and Improved Carnage Crew acted much like the original Carnage Crew, facing The Ring Crew Express in a tag match. Hydro won a Four Corner Survival match over Chad Collyer, Superstar Steve and Ray Gordy (a.k.a. Jesse of Jesse and Festus). And Jimmy Jacobs won a Six Man Mayhem over Delirious, Loc, Matt Sydal, Rainman and Caprice Coleman, in what was Coleman's last main show appearance until 2011 ["Champions vs. All Stars" - 1/14/11]. - 2005: ROH held "The Future Is Now" in New York, NY. The show's name was in reference to "ECW: One Night Stand", taking place a few blocks away later that day. As part of the ongoing ECW nostalgia, Shane Douglas, who two days prior held his own ECW reunion show, "Hardcore Homecoming", at the ECW Arena, made his one and only Ring of Honor appearance...which went over like a lead balloon. In the "official" main event, number one contender Nigel McGuinness challenged Samoa Joe for the ROH Pure Championship. The actual main event was a non-title match between ROH World Champion Austin Aries and Low Ki, which was an unsanctioned match due to Low Ki still being suspended. The match came about after Low Ki picked a fight with Aries during a public exhibition match that was taped for one of the local news stations. Despite having one foot out the door, CM Punk was still on track for a shot at Austin Aries and the ROH World Championship, but first he had to contended with Roderick Strong and his freaky [redacted] strength. James Gibson and Homicide met in a singles match, kicking off their often overlooked feud. Having served their suspension ["Third Anniversary Celebration: Part 1" - 2/19/05], the Carnage Crew made their return by looking for payback against The Ring Crew Express, reigniting their feud in a Street Fight. Colt Cabana took on Jimmy Rave, and Azrieal won a Six Man Mayhem over ROH Tag Team Champion BJ Whitmer, The Embassy's Fast Eddie Vegas, Generation Next's Jack Evans, and Lacey's Angels members Izzy and Deranged. - 2009: ROH held "Contention" in Manassas, VA. The show could've been called "Night of the Snapmares", as it was the most over move of the night, with fans calling for it repeatedly. In the main event, Tyler Black defeated ROH World Champion Jerry Lynn clean in a singles match, but seeing as he was the "Charlie Brown" of Ring of Honor, the match was non-title. The feud between the Briscoes and American Wolves continued with Jay Briscoe flying solo against ROH World Tag Team Champion Davey Richards. Richards' partner Eddie Edwards, meanwhile, competed in a Four Corner Survival match against Austin Aries, Roderick Strong and D-Lo Brown. Colt Cabana teamed up with Necro Butcher and Grizzly Redwood in a grudge match against The Embassy and Claudio Castagnoli. Kevin Steen and El Generico took on The Young Bucks, which in addition to being their first match against each other in ROH was also their first ever two-on-two tag match against each other (they'd previously competed in one Six-Man Tag against each other in PWG). Bryan Danielson wrestled Kenny King, Jimmy Jacobs faced Sonjay Dutt, and Shawn Spears made his one and only Ring of Honor appearance, taking on Alex Payne. "Take No Prisoners 2009" [taped 4/4/09], the final show in ROH's initial pay-per-view run, made its debut. - 2016: Ring of Honor closed out the "Road to Best in the World 2016" in Milwaukee, WI. The show was a tag heavy one, with tag team matches making up half the card. After their title match at "Global Wars 2016" [5/8/16] was ruined by the Bullet Club, ROH World Champion Jay Lethal and Colt Cabana got a measure of revenge when they teamed up to defeat The Young Bucks in the main event. Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser earned a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championship when they defeated The All-Night Express and The Briscoes to win Tag Wars 2016. Tag champions The Addiction found themselves busy that night taking on newcomers Juice Robinson and their soon to be friend Kamaitachi. The Motor City Machines Guns faced Moose and Lio Rush, and War Machine squashed Curt Stallion and Jared Jackson. In non-tag action, Rocky Romero wrestled ROH World Television Champion Bobby Fish in a non-title match, while his RPG Vice partner Beretta took on Donovan Dijak. Dalton Castle faced Will Ferrara, and Kyle O'Reilly won a Four Corner Survival match over ACH, Michael Elgin and Roderick Strong. And one night after Steve Corino put him on notice, BJ Whitmer sent Corino his own message.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 13 - 2009: Legendary Japanese wrestler and founder of Pro Wrestling NOAH Mitsuharu Misawa, who competed on Ring of Honor's "Glory by Honor VI" weekend [11/2-11/3/07], passed away after an in-ring accident while competing in Japan. In the US, Ring of Honor held "Manhattan Mayhem III" in New York, NY. The show is most remembered for two reasons. The first, Austin Aries becoming the first ever two-time ROH World Champion when he defeated then champ Jerry Lynn and Tyler Black in a Three-Way Elimination match. The second, being the last ROH appearance of Ric Flair, who walked out on the promotion despite having already been paid in advance for more shows (I still don't think Cary Silkin has gotten his $40K back). Flair was scheduled to be the guest ringside enforcer for the main event ROH World Championship match, but was apparently upset at seeing cameras from HDNet at the show as he had just signed a new deal with WWE. With Flair gone, former ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness stepped in to take his place as the guest enforcer. The match was originally booked as a singles match between Lynn and Aries, but was changed to a Three-Way Elimination match when an upset Black cashed in the title shot he won at "Caged Collision" [1/31/09] after his scheduled match went sideways. Black was booked to faced Jimmy Jacobs in a First Blood match, but Jacobs attacked him as he was making his entrance, resulting in a prolonged brawl on the floor and Black getting busted open. Since the match couldn't official start until both wrestlers entered the ring, it went down in the record books that Black lost the First Blood match in ten seconds. Kevin Steen and El Generico received another shot at ROH World Tag Team Champions The American Wolves, facing them in a Submission match. Guido Maritato made a one night return, facing Jay Briscoe in a rematch from way back at ROH's fifth show, "Crowning a Champion" [7/27/02]. Necro Butcher's feud with The Embassy saw him up against Jimmy Rave in a grudge match. Colt Cabana won a Four Corner Survival match over Bryan Danielson, Claudio Castagnoli and D-Lo Brown. Roderick Strong took on Sonjay Dutt, and The Young Bucks wrestled Rhett Titus and Kenny King for the first time. - PWInsider article on Ric Flair: www.pwinsider.com/ViewArticle.php?id=39373&p=1

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 14 - 2003: Ring of Honor held "Night of the Grudges" in Cambridge, MA. After months and months of build going all the back to "Final Battle 2002" [12/2802], The Prophecy and The Group finally met in their first, and last, match. Featuring the final ROH appearances of Prophecy member Donovan Morgan and Group member CW Anderson, The Prophecy defeated The Group in a Six-Man Tag match with the stipulation that the losing team must disband. By pinning ROH World Champion Samoa Joe, Dan Maff not only ended The Group, but also earned a future shot at the title, which was convenient as the match for the Number One Contender's Trophy ended in a draw. Paul London and newly crowned NWA World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles competed for the trophy in what was their only singles match ever against each other. The match came about due to London feeling slighted by Styles, as they originally planned to go after the ROH Tag Team Championship together, but when London had to miss a show due to undergoing emergency surgery ["Expect the Unexpected" - 3/15/03], Styles won the titles with The Amazing Red instead. In need of someone to help him defeat CM Punk and Colt Cabana in a No Disqualification match, Raven turned to BJ Whitmer, who was more than happy to help after Punk sent him to the hospital with a concussion after putting him through a table at "The Epic Encounter" [4/12/03]. Homicide won a Four Corner Survival match over John Walters and the debuting Chris Sabin and former ECW World Heavyweight Champion Justin Credible. The feud between the Christopher Street Connection and Carnage Crew came to an end with the Carnage Crew emerging victorious in what was the start of a busy night for them. After the never ending feud between The S.A.T. and Special K saw the Maximos score a victory over Angel Dust and their trainer Mikey Whipwreck, the Carnage Crew attacked Whipwreck as payback for him causing them to lose to Special K in the Tag Team Scramble at "The Epic Encounter". During the beatdown, it was revealed the reason for Justin Credible's surprise debut tonight was because he was the fourth member of the Carnage Crew. However, the Carnage Crew wasn't done with Special K for the night, as they attacked them a second time after the show had ended. Matt Stryker wrestled Change Beckett, and after a seven month absence, Prince Nana made his return by taking on Diablo Santiago of The Outcast Killaz.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 15 - 2012: Ring of Honor held "The Nightmare Begins" in Charleston, WV. The show was named after Kevin Steen, who after a month (and several shows) as ROH World Champion, was finally make his first defense, with Eddie Edwards getting the shot. That match, however, was not the main event, as that spot went to Jay Briscoe and ROH World Tag Team Champion Charlie Haas, who ended their feud in a Texas Death match. Jay pulled double duty on the show, first teaming with Mark Briscoe against Paredyse and Chris Silvio. Adam Cole moved one step closer to becoming ROH World Television Champion, winning a Proving Ground Four Corner Survival match over then champion Roderick Strong, BJ Whitmer, and former friend turned bitter rival Kyle O'Reilly. Mike Mondo wrestled former ROH World Champion Davey Richards to a time limit draw. Jay Lethal took on Michael Elgin, and The All-Night Express faced Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander. - 2018: ROH held night one of "State of the Art 2018" in San Antonio, TX. The main event saw Bullet Club emerge victorious over The Kingdom and The Killer Elite Squad. KES was originally scheduled to team with ROH World Tag Team Champions the Briscoes, but they were unable to attend the show. ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Matt Taven and Vinny Marseglia stepped up to replace them after first taking care of The Boys, while their partner TK O'Ryan took on Jay Lethal. Shane Helms made his Ring of Honor debut, teaming with Delirious and Cheeseburger against Bully Ray, Shane Taylor and Punishment Martinez. Also making her ROH debut was future AEW Women's World Champion Thunder Rosa, who teamed with Kelly Klein against WOH World Champion Sumie Sakai and Tenille Dashwood. Atlantis, Guerrero Maya, Jr. and Stuka, Jr. made the trip up from CMLL, competing in a Six-Man Tag Team match against SoCal Uncensored. Cody and Jonathan Gresham wrestled their only singles match against each other, Rhett Titus tried to fight his tag team instincts in a one-on-one match against Flip Gordon, and ROH World Television Champion Silas Young took on Curt Stallion in a non-title match (which personally I wish they would've signed Stallion after). - 2021: On Week by Week, Chris Dickinson and O'Shay Edwards met in a first round match for Survival of the Fittest 2021.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 16 - 2018: Ring of Honor held night two of "State of the Art 2018" in Dallas, TX. After winning a Proving Ground: Instant Reward Six Man Mayhem match also involving Adam Page, Cheeseburger, Jonathan Gresham and Scorpio Sky, Punishment Martinez went on to defeat Silas Young to become the new ROH World Television Champion…which I'm pretty sure was the first (and maybe only) time someone has won the Instant Reward match and then the title. One night after they were scheduled to be partners, The Killer Elite Squad challenged The Briscoes for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Rounding out the title matches, CMLL's Atlantis, Guerrero Maya, Jr. and Stuka, Jr. challenged The Kingdom for the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship. Shane Helms finished out his debut weekend with ROH by teaming up with Delirious in a victory over The Addiction. In a showdown between Cody and Shane Taylor, Burnard the Business Bear suffered what was to date the worst of his many mishaps. Marty Scurll won a Three-Way over Flip Gordon and Jay Lethal, The Young Bucks took on The Boys, and Tenille Dashwood wrestled Thunder Rosa. - 2021: On Women's Division Wednesday, Rok-C made her return, taking on Laynie Luck.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 17 - 2006: Ring of Honor held "In Your Face" in New York, NY. The main event was a non-title Three-Way match between ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson, KENTA and Samoa Joe, which was the closest the world ever got to a Joe/KENTA singles match. Following their unsuccessful partnership a year before (which resulted in a months-long feud), Colt Cabana and ROH Pure Champion Nigel McGuinness reunited to challenge Austin Aries and Roderick Strong for the ROH Tag Team Championship. With the end of the ROH/CZW feud in sight, Adam Pearce took on Claudio Castagnoli while Homicide faced Chris Hero. Homicide didn't do it because he was pro-Ring of Honor, though. He did it after Hero attacked Julius Smokes. Homicide was still angry after felling like he was again screwed out of the ROH World Championship at "Destiny" [6/3/06], and publicly vowed to leave ROH if he does not win the title by the end of the year. Looking for a World title shot themselves, tag-team-partners-turned-bitter-enemies BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs met in a rematch from "Dragon Gate Challenge" [3/30/06], with Whitmer being slightly more successful in his attempts to powebomb Jacobs off the top rope. Also meeting in a rematch were Jimmy Rave and newcomer Davey Richards ["Destiny"], with Richards once again emerging victorious. The match was the beginning of the (temporary) end to the tradition of throwing toilet paper at Rave, as several rolls struck a chandelier, causing bits of broken glass to fall into the ring and cut up both wrestlers. The Briscoes faced Jason Blade and Sterling James Keenan, and Mitch Franklin challenged Shane Hagadorn for the Top of the Class Trophy.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 18 - 2005: Ring of Honor held "Death Before Dishonor III" in Morristown NJ. The show was centered around CM Punk, who was challenging Austin Aries for the ROH World Championship in what was advertised to be his final match for the promotion before leaving for WWE. In a shocking turn of events, Punk won the title and immediately turned heel, vowing to take the belt with him. Suddenly Christopher Daniels made his surprise return and looked to not only finish his feud with Punk that began sixteen months earlier ["The Battle Lines Are Drawn" - 1/10/04], but also finally become ROH World Champion. Though similar in setup to when The Dudley Boyz won the ECW World Tag Team Championship in their farewell match only to immediately lose them to Tommy Dreamer and the returning Raven, Punk proved to be smarter than the Dudleys by literally running out with the title. Daniels' wasn't the only return on the show, as AJ Styles returned to Ring of Honor full time, continuing his feud with The Embassy. In his return match, Styles defeated The Embassy's hired gun, the debuting Petey Williams, who received what has to easily be the single largest payday in ROH history. The Embassy went 0-2 that night, with Jimmy Rave and Fast Eddie Vegas coming up short in a match against BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs for the ROH Tag Team Championship. Also having a bad night were Generation Next. In addition to Aries losing the ROH World Championship, Roderick Strong and Jack Evans dropped the ball against Lacey's Angels in a match to determine the number one contenders for the Tag titles. Feeling personally responsible for the loss, Evans announced he was taking a break, putting Generation Next temporarily down to two members. Having a bad night as well was Colt Cabana, who besides being unsuccessful in challenging Samoa Joe for the ROH Pure Championship was another person burned by CM Punk, as despite several attempts throughout the night, his best friend stood him up on appearing on "Good Times, Great Memories". The Ring Crew Express and Carnage Crew carried on their feud in an "Anything Goes" match (which is a weird follow up to a Street Fight), Jay Lethal faced Low Ki in a grudge match, and James Gibson and Homicide's feud continued in a Four Corner Survival match involving Azrieal and Nigel McGuinness. [Man, I forgot how talk-heavy this show was. Great show, but it's like Raw levels. The first two matches were less than ten minutes each, and the third match doesn't start until about the one hour mark]. - 2010: Former ROH Tag Team Champion Trent Acid died of a drug overdose at the age of 29. ROH held "Buffalo Stampede II" in Hamburg, NY. Much like "Eye of the Storm 2" [12/18/09], Ring of Honor felt so strongly about the show that it wasn't given its own release, but instead released as a bonus on the "Death Before Dishonor VIII" DVD [6/19/10]. Like the first "Buffalo Stampede" [10/15/05], the main event saw Steve Corino taking on the ROH World Champion, who is now Tyler Black, only this time in a non-title match. ROH World Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling also had a non-title match, facing Up in Smoke, while ROH World Television Champion Eddie Edwards did likewise in a Ten Minute Hunt against Tyson Dux. Austin Aries and Kenny Omega met in a rematch from "The Omega Effect" [11/14/09]. The All-Night Express defeated The Briscoes in a rematch from "Supercard of Honor V" [5/8/10], their first time winning against the multi-time former tag champs. Colt Cabana faced Shawn Daivari. Roderick Strong took on Pee Wee, and Delirious wrestled Mr. Ernie Osiris. - 2021: ROH aired their latest episode of television from Baltimore, MD. Bandido took his first step towards becoming ROH World Champion by defeating Bateman in a first round match for Survival of the Fittest 2021. The end of the match saw the return of Vincent, who had some tough love for Bateman failing The Righteous. The main event saw a showdown between warring factions The Foundation, La Facción Ingobernable and VLNCE UNLTD as ROH World Television Champion Tony Deppen defended the title against former champions Dragon Lee and Tracy Williams. And with The Briscoes still not able to get on the same page, Papa Briscoe had the solution to work out their problems, setting the stage for the "Fight on the Farm" [ROH TV: Ep. #511 - 7/2/21].

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 19 - 2009: Ring of Honor returned to Philadelphia, PA for another round of HDNet tapings. Nigel McGuinness made his return from injury, facing old rival Tyler Black. The Steenerico/American Wolves feud saw them compete in dual singles match, with Kevin Steen facing Eddie Edwards, while El Generico wrestled Davey Richards. Colt Cabana and Brent Albright teamed together in a grudge match against Claudio Castagnoli and Jimmy Rave. Roderick Strong won a Three-Way match over D-Lo Brown and Jay Briscoe. Kenny Omega teamed with Erick Stevens to face Rhett Titus and Kenny King. Delirious took on Silas Young, Necro Butcher squared off against Sami Callihan, and Eddie Kingston squashed Orange Cassidy. - 2010: ROH held "Death Before Dishonor VIII" in Toronto, ON. The show started out hot, as El Generico had all he could stands, and he couldn't stands it no more, taking on former friend Kevin Steen in their first main show singles match in ROH (they'd previous faced in a dark singles match at "The Homecoming" [7/23/05]). The show ended hot as well with a double main event. The Briscoes faced the Kings of Wrestling in a No Disqualification rematch for the ROH World Tag Team Championship, while Davey Richards challenged Tyler Black for the ROH World Championship. Roderick Strong moved one step closer to becoming ROH World Champion by defeating Colt Cabana, ROH World Television Champion Eddie Edwards, Shawn Daivari, Steve Corino and Tyson Dux in a Gauntlet match to win the title shot that would see him finally win the belt. Delirious took on Austin Aries in a grudge match, Christopher Daniels and Kenny Omega wrestled their only singles match against each other, and Cheech and Cloudy made their final ROH appearance, facing The All-Night Express. - 2015: ROH held "Best in the World 2015" in New York, NY. ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal made history by defeating Jay Lethal in a Title vs. Title match to win the ROH World Championship, becoming the first double champion in Ring of Honor. The match was not the only showdown between The Briscoes and The House of Truth, as Mark Briscoe faced Donovan Dijak. Lethal's first challenger was already lined up by the time he won the belt, as Roderick Strong won a Three-Way match over Michael Elgin and Moose to become the new number one contender for the World title. reDRagon challenged The Addiction for the ROH World Tag Team Championship in a No Disqualification match. Bullet Club's AJ Styles and The Young Bucks teamed up for a Six-Man Tag Team match against The Kingdom. Dalton Castle and Silas Young wrestled the first match of their feud, War Machine took on C&C Wrestle Factory, and Matt Sydal and ACH faced The Decade.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 20 - 2009: Ring of Honor closed out their latest round of HDNet tapings in Philadelphia, PA. The now ex-ROH World Champion Jerry Lynn got his win back against Tyler Black ["Contention" - 6/12/09], while Austin Aries' first match as the new ROH World Champion was a non-title one against his former partner and longtime rival Roderick Strong. Colt Cabana, Brent Albright, Necro Butcher and Grizzly Redwood united for an Eight-Man Tag Team Elimination match against The Embassy and Claudio Castagnoli. The Briscoes and the team of Rhett Titus and Kenny King wrestled their first two-on-two tag match against each other (they'd previously faced off in a Six-Man Tag at "Southern Hostility" [12/6/08]), and Delirious faced Sonjay Dutt, starting their rivalry. The remainder of the matches were glorified (and some non-glorified) squash matches, with Kevin Steen and El Generico taking on Sami Callihan and Tony Kozina, D-Lo Brown against John Kermon, The American Wolves versus Up in Smoke, Erick Stevens facing Silas Young, Nigel McGuinness squaring off with Aaron Scott, and Eddie Kingston murdering Sal Rinauro. - 2015: ROH finished out their weekend in New York, NY with a television taping that took them through the 200th episode. The milestone episode saw clips from some the best TV matches of the past year, as well as the former ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe teaming up with Mark Briscoe, Roderick Strong and ODB in an Eight-Man Tag Team match against new champion Jay Lethal and The House of Truth. Mark and Lethal pulled double duty on the tapings, with Mark first challenging Lethal for the ROH World Television Championship. Dissension began to grow between Adam Cole and The Kingdom. After a Six-Man Tag Team loss with The Kingdom against Michael Elgin and reDRagon, Cole ended the taping by actually teaming with Kyle O'Reilly for the first time in three and a half years ["Homecoming 2012" - 1/20/12] in a non-title match against ROH World Tag Team Champions The Addiction. Bobby Fish, Michael Bennett and Matt Taven pulled double duty as well, with Fish taking on ACH, while Bennett and Taven faced Corey Hollis and Jonathan Gresham. Dalton Castle and Silas Young were also on the double duty crew, as Castle first wrestled Takaaki Watanabe while Young met Will Ferrara, before the two of them competed in a Six Man Mayhem match with Brutal Bob Evans, Caprice Coleman, Cheeseburger and Moose. AJ Styles substituted for Nick Jackson in a tag team match with Matt Jackson against War Machine. Matt Sydal faced Adam Page, and Cedric Alexander took on The Romantic Touch. The biggest match of the night, however, was not taped for television. In his farewell match before leaving for WWE, Samoa Joe teamed with real life longtime friend and rival AJ Styles to face his other real life longtime friends and rivals Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian. The match marked the last time Joe and Daniels ever faced each other (to date), and the last time Styles and Daniels faced each other in Ring of Honor [they would have one last singles match against each other for EPW in Italy on 10/17/15].

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 22 - 2002: Ring of Honor held "Road to the Title" in Philadelphia, PA [which was the first ROH show I ever got]. As the title suggests, the show started the road to crowning the first ROH Champion, with sixteen wrestlers competing in four mini-tournaments, with the four winners going on to wrestle for the title in a Four-Way 60-min Iron Man match on July 27 ["Crowning a Champion"]. Block A saw the first ever meeting between Paul London and Brian " Spanky" Kendrick, and the debuts of British wrestlers Jody Fleisch and Jonny Storm. After besting his future tag team partner, Spanky defeated Fleisch to enter the Iron Man. In Block B, Christopher Daniels advanced over Scoot Andrews ** while AJ Styles advanced over the debuting Jerry Lynn, with Daniels subsequently winning his first match against Styles in ROH. It was an important night for Daniels, as in addition to competing in the tournament, he'd had enough of ROH management and the Code of Honor, and started The Prophecy to combat them. His first recruit was Simply Lucious, who was sick of being relegated to a valet instead of being allowed to wrestle. Lucious got her wish that night, taking on the debuting Sumie Sakai in Ring of Honor's first women's match, but came out on the losing end. Block C saw debuting British wrestler Doug Williams quickly make a name for himself by first defeating Jay Briscoe, and then defeating Bryan Danielson to continue on to the title match. Danielson's first round match was against fellow Shawn Michaels Texas Wrestling Academy student Bio-Hazard, who was making his debut. And in Block D, Low Ki knocked Prince Nana the f*** out, while The Amazing Red defeated Xavier. The Low Ki/Red showdown began with one of the most exciting sequences in ROH history, and ended with Low Ki one step closer to being the first ROH Champion. Unfortunately the Low Ki/Nana match did not age as well, as it began a storyline where Nana suffered a concussion and had to wrestle in a protective helmet while commentators called him a p***y because concussion aren't, you know, that big of a deal. In addition to the tournament matches, there was a gigantic ECW-style clusterf*** with the Da Hit Squad, Divine Storm, Carnage Crew, Christopher Street Connection, Natural Born Sinners, The Ring Crew Express, and The S.A.T. Team B would run out and brawl with Team A, followed by Team C out to brawl with Team B, then Team D, and so on. The end result was a match between Da Hit Squad and Divine Storm and a Bunkhouse Brawl between the Natural Born Sinners and Carnage Crew at "Crowning a Champion". ** - TIL that Scoot Andrews was original brought into ROH as a replacement for Mike Quackenbush. Apparently it was originally scheduled to be Xavier vs. Quackenbush at "The Era of Honor Begins", but Quack pulled out of the show because he didn't want to work with Xavier. Andrews was then brought in as a replacement. wrestlingrecaps.com/2010/07/23/roh-001-era-of-honor-begins-2232002/- 2007: ROH held "United We Stand" in Dayton, OH. After Claudio Castagnoli came up short in his rematch for the ROH World Tag Team Championship ["Domination" - 6/9/07], it was now Matt Sydal's shot at The Briscoes in a Two out of Three Falls match. For his match, Sydal chose Castagnoli as his partner, making it a rematch from "Respect Is Earned" [5/12/07], but just like in Claudio's attempt, the Briscoes won in two straight falls. Rivals Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuinness teamed up for the first time ever to take on ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima and fellow Pro Wrestling NOAH wrestler Naomichi Marufuji. Also making the trip over from NOAH was KENTA, who took on Rocky Romero in their only singles match against each other. Romero's No Remorse Corps partners Roderick Strong and Davey Richards faced their hated rivals The Resilience, who's former leader Austin Aries was there to support them, albeit after buying a ticket as he was still (in storyline) under contract with TNA. Both BJ Whitmer's feud with Brent Albright and his losing streak continued as he racked up another "L" in a No Disqualification match. Chris Hero won a Gauntlet match over Adam Pearce, Delirious, Jimmy Rave and Pelle Primeau. Kevin Steen and El Generico took on Irish Airborne, and Lacey faced Serena Deeb. - 2013: ROH held "Best in the World 2013" in Baltimore, MD. The main event saw Jay Briscoe defend the ROH World Championship against his brother Mark Briscoe in their first singles match against each other since 2009 [ROH on HDNet: Ep. #43 - taped 11/6/09]. reDRagon defended the ROH World Tag Team Championship in a Three-Way Tag Team match against C&C Wrestle Factor and S.C.U.M.'s Rhett Titus and Kenny King, while Matt Taven defended the ROH World Television Championship in a Three-Way match against Jay Lethal and S.C.U.M.'s Jimmy Jacobs. Ex-SCUM leader Kevin Steen took on Steve Corino's new favorite wrestler, Matt Hardy, in a No Disqualification match. Adam Cole continued his rivalry with Roderick Strong, defeating him via count out. Michael Elgin took on Tommaso Ciampa, BJ Whitmer wrestled Mike Bennett, and The American Wolves squared off against Adrenaline RUSH. - 2014: Ring of Honor held "Best in the World 2014", their first live traditional pay-per-view, in Nashville, TN. In the main event, Michael Elgin defeated Adam Cole to finally become the ROH World Champion. It was a moment many saw coming...as the fans actually threw streamers into the ring after Elgin scored a close two count because they thought he won (leading to a "We f***ed up!" chant). After a three-year long absence, Christopher Daniels made his return to ROH, bringing in his Bad Influence tag team partner Frankie Kazarian with him to challenge reDRagon for the ROH Tag Team Championship. Matt Taven challenged Jay Lethal for the ROH World Television Championship, while ACH won a Six Man Mayhem match over BJ Whitmer, Caprice Coleman, Tadarius Thomas, Takaaki Watanabe and Tommaso Ciampa to become the new number one contender for the title. Kevin Steen took on Silas Young, kicking off his final storyline in ROH. Cedric Alexander wrestled Roderick Strong in a Submission match, and The Briscoes faced Matt Hardy and Michael Bennett in a No Disqualification match. - 2021: On Week by Week, Survival of the Fittest 2021 continued with Danhausen and Rhett Titus competing in a first round match.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 23 - 2006: Ring of Honor held "Throwdown" in Detroit, MI. KENTA's extended tour in the US saw him go one-on-one with the ROH Tag Team Champions in singles matches on consecutive nights, with Roderick Strong getting the first shot. After their match to determine the number one contender ended in a no contest at "In Your Face" [6/17/06], both BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs were granted a title shot against ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson, facing him in a Three-Way Elimination match. ROH Pure Champion Nigel McGuinness put out an open contract in order to prove he was the best champion in Ring of Honor, which was accepted by Conrad Kennedy III. With the countdown on towards Cage of Death ["Death Before Dishonor IV" - 7/15/06], Homicide, still not fully onboard with Team ROH, took on the traitor Claudio Castagnoli, while Adam Pearce faced Necro Butcher in a Falls Count Anywhere match. Delirious scored one his biggest victories thus far in his ROH career, winning a Four Corner Survival match over Davey Richards, Jimmy Rave and Samoa Joe. And Second City Saints members Colt Cabana and Ace Steel teamed up to face The Briscoes, which with the exception of them being in an Eight-Man Tag Team Street Fight at "Weekend of Champions: Night One" [4/28/06], was the first time they'd teamed together in two years ["Reborn: Completion" - 7/17/04]. - 2007: ROH taped "Driven", their second pay-per-view, in Chicago Ridge, IL. The show was built off the first PPV "Respect Is Earned" [taped 5/12/07], and started the format for the tapings of doing the pay-per-view matches first, and the bonus matches after. After calling out The Briscoes on the last PPV (as well as, you know, all their fighting on the regular shows), Kevin Steen and El Generico finally received their shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championship. With their own attempt at the tag titles at "Respect Is Earned" being unsuccessful, Claudio Castagnoli and Matt Sydal met in an exhibition match. While the match itself was friendly, the aftermath wasn't, as Sydal turned heel and became the newest member of Sweet n' Sour, Inc. Delirious teamed up with The Resilience to face common enemy the No Remorse Corps in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Following the match, the leaderless Resilience found themselves leaderless no more with Austin Aries officially announced his return to ROH. Just like the first pay-per-view, BJ Whitmer found himself up against a wrestler from Pro Wrestling NOAH, Naomichi Marufuji, and just like the first pay-per-view, he came out on the losing end. Brent Albright made his PPV debut, squashing Pelle Primeau. The main event of the pay-per-view itself didn't actually happen at the taping, as when the "planned" main event of Jimmy Rave challenging Takeshi Morishima for the ROH World Championship ended up lasted a whopping four minutes, Ring of Honor aired the unreleased number one contender match between Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuinness from "Domination" [6/9/07]. For their part on the live show, Bryan Danielson met KENTA a rematch of their instant classic at "Glory by Honor V: Night 2" [6/19/06], while Nigel McGuinness continued his rivalry with Chris Hero in a singles match. Morishima made a second defense of the ROH World Championship, this time against Adam Pearce. And Daizee Haze teamed with MsChif to face Lacey and Rain, the Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew (which is my all-time favorite parody team name in wrestling) - 2013: Ring of Honor finished out their with weekend in Baltimore, MD with a television taping that brought about the end of the ROH/S.C.U.M. war. After year a fighting, which reached new levels with the massive expansion of the faction at the "11th Anniversary", it all came to ahead in Steel Cage Warfare, with everything on the line. If SCUM wins, Nigel McGuinness is fired and Steve Corino becomes the new matchmaker, vowing to kill the company; if ROH wins, SCUM is gone for good. In the end, McGuinness' team of BJ Whitmer, Jay Lethal, Michael Elgin and ex-SCUM leader Kevin Steen outlast Corino's team of Jimmy Jacobs, Rhett Titus, Cliff Compton and Rhino to send SCUM packing. Before the final showdown, however, SCUM left Ring of Honor with a departing shot. After Matt Hardy was unsuccessful in challenging Jay Briscoe for the ROH World Championship, SCUM destroyed Jay and his brother Mark Briscoe, sidelining them both with injuries for several months and resulting in the ROH World Championship being vacated for the only time in history (there were rumors of WWE being interested in signing the Briscoes, but back off after Jay shot both of them in the foot with his infamous twitter scandal). Having a better night were Ring of Honor's other champions, as reDRagon successfully defended the ROH World Tag Team Championship against C&C Wrestle Factory while ROH World Television Champion Matt Taven retained his title against Eddie Edwards. Edwards pulled doubt duty on the tapings, later teaming with Davey Richards in an extended squash against Mike Sydal and Zizou Middoux. Roderick Strong faced Adam Cole in a rematch from "Best in the World 2013" the night before, winning by disqualification. Tommaso Ciampa took on QT Marshall, Adam Page faced Silas Young, and Veda Scott made her official ROH in-ring debut, wrestling MsChif in the culmination of their storyline that began back in March [Ep. #81 - taped 3/3/13]. - 2017: ROH held "Best in the World 2017" in Lowell, MA. After a fifteen-year long chase and three-month long reign, Christopher Daniels time as ROH World Champion came to an end when he was defeated by Cody. That wasn't the only title change of the night, as in a surprising upset Dalton Castle and The Boys defeated Bully Ray and The Briscoes to become the new ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions. The Young Bucks were able to outlast Best Friends and War Machine in a Three-Way Tornado Tag match to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship, while ROH World Television Champion KUSHIDA held onto his title in a defense against former champion Marty Scurll. The feud between Search and Destroy and The Rebellion came to an end when The Rebellion was forced to disband after losing an Eight-Man Tag Team match. Jay Lethal took on Silas Young in a grudge match, Frankie Kazarian ended his feud with Adam Page in a Strap match, and The Kingdom wrestled CMLL's Ultimo Guerrero and El Terrible in a Lucha Rule Tag match. - 2021: On Women's Division Wednesday, Allie Recks came looking for a job. After coming up in short in a match against Angelina Love, Recks asked for one more shot to show everyone why she belongs…and probably instantly regretted it when she had to face Max the Impaler.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 24 - 2004: Ring of Honor held the inaugural "Survival of the Fittest" in Essington, PA. The tournament's format was copied from Maryland Championship Wrestling's Shamrock Memorial Cup, as MCW had asked ROH to take over running the tournament after they closed down in July 2003. Originally planned to be held in Glen Burnie, MD, the show was moved to Pennsylvania and given a new name when the former MCW promotors refused to work with ROH in the fallout of the Rob Feinstein Controversy. Competing in the debut tournament were: Alex Shelley, Austin Aries, Bryan Danielson ROH Tag Team Champion Colt Cabana, Homicide, Jack Evans, Jay Briscoe, John Walters, Mark Briscoe, Matt Stryker, ROH World Champion Samoa Joe, and Trent Acid. Aries, Danielson, Cabana, Homicide, Joe and Mark Briscoe all advanced to the final Six-Way Elimination match, which saw Cabana earn a future shot at the ROH World Championship by eliminating Joe, and the kickoff of the feud between the Briscoe Brothers and The Rottweilers when Mark and Homicide eliminated each other. The most notable thing to come out of the finals was rivalry between Danielson and Aries, who wrestled over the half the match by themselves, until Danielson finally defeated the ROH rookie. In non-tournament action, CM Punk went solo in defending the ROH Tag Team Championship in a Tag Team Scramble match against The Outcast Killaz, The Ring Crew Express and Special K, before taking on Hydro in a singles match. That match would end up being Hydro's last as a member of Special K, as at the next show he quit the group to become the protégé of Samoa Joe, and began competing under his real name, Jay Lethal. - 2006: ROH held "Chi-Town Struggle" in Chicago Ridge, IL. After an embarrassing five-minute loss at "The 100th Show", Colt Cabana set out to redeem himself by starting at the bottom and working his way back up to another shot at the ROH World Championship. In his hometown, Cabana got his shot, and though he still came up short against Bryan Danielson, he did manage to greatly surpass his five minute performance, going half an hour. Having beaten Roderick Strong the night before, KENTA took on the other half of the ROH Tag Team Champions, Austin Aries, and once again emerged victorious [despite singlehandedly beating both champions, for some reason KENTA was not granted a shot at the titles]. Still hoping to get him on board for the Cage of Death match against CZW ["Death Before Dishonor IV" - 7/15/06], Ring of Honor management granted Homicide a shot at the ROH Pure Championship, but it backfired when Nigel McGuinness went for a cheap count out victory. Meanwhile, in the last stop before the Cage of Death, CZW's Claudio Castagnoli, Necro Butcher and Nate Webb defeated ROH's Adam Pearce, BJ Whitmer and Ace Steel in a Bunkhouse Brawl. After facing off in a Four Corner Survival match the night before, Delirious tried taking on Samoa Joe solo, but was not as successful. Roderick Strong and Jimmy Jacobs squared off in their first singles match against each other in ROH (surprisingly, despite both spending over a decade working the same independent promotions, Strong and Jacobs only wrestled three singles matches against each other). And Alex Shelley made the final appearance of his initial Ring of Honor run, seconding Jimmy Rave and Conrad Kennedy III in their match against The Briscoes. - 2012: ROH held "Best in the World 2012: Hostage Crisis" in New York, NY. After losing the ROH World Championship at "Border Wars" [5/12/12], Davey Richards received his rematch against Kevin Steen for the title, facing him in a No Disqualification match. Roderick Strong fended off Jay Lethal and Tommaso Ciampa in a Three-Way Elimination match to retain the ROH World Television Championship. Friends-turned-rivals Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly faced each other in the first and only "Hybrid Rules" match. Fit Finlay made his second and last appearance in Ring of Honor, taking on Michael Elgin. Homicide returned after a three-month absence to wrestle Eddie Edwards, their only singles match ever against each other. Former WWF wrestlers The Head Bangers made their debuts at The Guardians of Truth, taking on The Briscoes at the behest of Truth Martini. Mike Mondo squared off with Mike Bennett. And after three and a half years of grinding, The All-Night Express finally reached the top of the mountain when they defeated Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team to win the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Unfortunately, their time as champions would be short lived. With King's contract with ROH expiring the day of the show, ROH management switched the belts to ANX in hopes of getting King to signed a new agreement. Before they could finalize one, King received a televised tryout with TNA. According to Jim Cornette, King had made a verbal commitment to Ring of Honor and violated by working for TNA; according to King, there was no agreement, so he was free to try out there. There's a lot of he-said/he-said to the saga, but the end result was ROH stripping The All-Night Express of the ROH Tag Team Championship and declaring them vacant, while King went on to work for TNA for three years. - 2016: ROH held "Best in the World 2016" in Concord, NC. In what was billed as "the biggest rematch in Ring of Honor history", Jay Briscoe finally received his rematch against Jay Lethal for the ROH World Championship after losing it to him a year earlier at "Best in the World 2015" [6/19/15]. This ended up being Jay Briscoe's last time wrestling for the title. Bobby Fish made his first defense of the ROH World Television Championship, taking on his real life friend Dalton Castle (no word on if they got brunch afterwards). Rounding out the title match, the Motor City Machine Guns challenged The Addiction for the ROH World Tag Team Championship, but were unsuccessful in large part due to the distraction of Kamaitachi running out and attacking Jay White, who was visiting the show prior to making his official Ring of Honor debut the next night. Earlier in the show, Kamaitachi made his ROH PPV debut in a match against Kyle O'Reilly. Making his final ROH PPV appearance was "Mr. ROH" Roderick Strong, who took on fellow longtime staple Mark Briscoe. ACH faced Silas Young in a grudge match. War Machine teamed up with Moose in a Six-Man Tag Team match against the Bullet Club trio of Adam Cole and The Young Bucks. And after over a year of building, and months and months of mind games, Steve Corino and BJ Whitmer finally squared off against each other in an unsanctioned Fight Without Honor that saw the surprise debut of Kevin Sullivan. - 2017: ROH closed out their weekend in Lowell, MA with a television taping. New ROH World Champion Cody made his first defense, taking on former champion Christopher Daniels in a Two out of Three Falls match. KUSHIDA racked up another successful defense of the ROH World Television Championship, defeating Jay White. ROH World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks teamed with fellow Bullet Club member Adam Page to take on ex-ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Bully Ray and The Briscoes, while the new Six-Man Champions Dalton Castle and The Boys wrestled a non-title match against Flip Gordon and Coast 2 Coast. Beer City Bruiser took on newcomer and future tag team partner Brian Milonas in the only singles match they've ever had against each other. Marty Scurll won a Six Man Mayhem match over Frankie Kazarian, Josh Woods, Vinny Marseglia, Will Ferrara, and CMLL's El Terrible. Fellow CMLL wrestler Ultimo Guerrero went solo in a match against Matt Taven. Jonathan Gresham had an uphill battle in a match against Punishment Martinez. The Motor City Machine Guns took on War Machine in a first time meeting. And a special episode was held showcasing the Women of Honor, with Sumie Sakai wrestling Kris Wolf, Mandy Leon squaring off with Jenny Rose, and Deonna Purrazo, Karen Q and Kelly Klein competing in a Three-Way match. - 2021: In a YouTube exclusive match, PJ Black returned to action after a fall down the stairs in November broke both his legs, resulting in Black needing 33 screws and several plates. Black competed in the final match of a Pure Rules Gauntlet match to determine the number one contender for the ROH Pure Championship at "Best in the World 2021" [7/11/21]. Michael Bennett won the title shot after outlasting Black, Adrien Soriano, Joe Keys, Ryan Mooney, Will Ferrara and World Famous CB.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 25 - 2016: Ring of Honor held a television taping in Concord, NC. After 13 years and 458 matches, "Mr. ROH" Roderick Strong made his final appearance, wrestling Dalton Castle. During his tenure, Strong won the ROH World Championship, ROH World Tag Team Championship, ROH World Television Championship twice, and the 2005 Survival of the Fittest, was a member of Generation Next, No Remorse Corps and The House of Truth, and despite wrestling a hard hitting style and having numerous bloody matches, never suffered any major injuries or took significant time off [from joining fulltime in May 2004 until his last match, there were only three months he didn't wrestle for ROH - October 2008, July 2009, and June 2011]. Meanwhile Jay White made his official ROH debut, teaming with the Motor City Machine Guns against The Addiction and Kamaitachi in a follow-up to their angle at "Best in the World 2016" the night before. The Addiction pulled double duty on the tapings, having first defended the ROH World Tag Team Championship against Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser. Also pulling double duty was Jay Lethal, who defended the ROH World Championship against Kyle O'Reilly before teaming with The Briscoes in a Six-Man Tag Team match against Bullet Club's Adam Cole and The Young Bucks. That match was Mark Briscoe's second match of the night as well, as he defeated ACH earlier in the evening to become the number one contender for the ROH World Television Championship. Also on the double duty crew was Donovan Dijak, who faced Jason Kincaid on one episode, and Moose on another. Moose had everyone beat by pulling triple duty, having squashed Mike "P Dog" Posey, and teaming up with Cheeseburger and Will Ferrara against the newly formed team of Caprice Coleman and The All-Night Express, now known as The Cabinet (they changed their name to The Rebellion in December). And Shane Taylor made his ROH TV debut, teaming with Keith Lee in a squash match against James Anthony and Victor Andrews. - 2021: ROH aired their latest episode of television from Baltimore, MD. Bandido took another step closer to becoming ROH World Championship by earning a title shot after outlasting Brian Johnson, Chris Dickinson, Demonic Flamita, Eli Isom and Rhett Titus to win Survival of the Fittest 2021. And Matt Taven's feud with Vincent continued as he faced Righteous member Dutch, who was making his ROH in-ring debut.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 26 - 2009: Ring of Honor held "Violent Tendencies" in Detroit, MI. The main event saw the feud between Tyler Black and his former friend and Age of the Fall leader Jimmy Jacobs come to a head in a Steel Cage match. After Black won the match and seemingly the feud, several dozen Age of the Fall members dressed all in black jumped the guardrail and attacked Tyler Black, while Jacobs proclaimed The Age of the Fall would live forever. KENTA made his return to the US, teaming with Roderick Strong to challenge The American Wolves for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. New ROH World Champion Austin Aries competed in a non-title Six Man Mayhem match against Delirious, Petey Williams, Rasche Brown, Sami Callihan and The Embassy's Joey Ryan. To ensure victory, Aries personally paid Prince Nana to have Ryan watch his back, and the investment paid off with Aries walking away the winner. Colt Cabana took on D-Lo Brown in a rematch from "Supercard of Honor IV" [4/3/09], and gave Brown a taste of his own medicine for how he won their match over WrestleMania weekend. In a match that was also a carryover from WrestleMania weekend ["Take No Prisoners 2009" - 4/4/09], Nigel McGuinness, recently returned from injury, faced his former friend Claudio Castagnoli in a grudge match. Ultimately there would be no conclusion to their renewed feud, as the match, which ended as a double count out, would be the last the two ever had against each other. Brent Albright and Erick Stevens took on Rhett Titus and Kenny King, Grizzly Redwood faced Silas Young, and The House of Truth made its debut, with Truth Martini managing Christian Able and Josh Raymond in their match against Kevin Steen and El Generico. And it turns out Ric Flair wasn't quiet done in ROH, as he showed up to talk about himself before putting over the Ring of Honor locker room. - 2011: ROH held "Best in the World 2011" in New York, NY. In his self-imposed final shot ever for the title, Davey Richards defeated his friend and tag team partner Eddie Edwards to finally become the ROH World Champion. Christopher Daniels ended his third run with Ring of Honor, losing the ROH World Television Championship to El Generico. Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team managed to outlast The All-Night Express, The Briscoes and the Kings of Wrestling in a Four-Way Tag Team Elimination match to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Homicide won the match but lost the battle in a Street Fight against Rhino. Steve Corino took on Michael Elgin, Colt Cabana faced Tommaso Ciampa, Jay Lethal wrestled Mike Bennett, and in a bonus dark match, The Young Bucks returned as "Generation Me" in a match against Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly, marking the first time the Bucks had been in the ring with either other them. The biggest surprise of the night was the sudden return of Kevin Steen. Brought in by Steve Corino and Jimmy Jacobs seemingly to apologize and redeem himself for his past behavior, Steen had other plans, turning on his former friend and mentor.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 27 - 2008: Ring of Honor held "Battle for Supremacy" in Dayton, OH. ROH teamed up with the National Wrestling Alliance for the first time as ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness took on NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce in a Title vs. Title match. In one of the best/worst finishes, they went double-old school for the first NWA match in ROH, as they did a Dusty finish with an Over-The-Top-Rope disqualification. Despite not securing the ROH World Championship, it was a banner night for Sweet n' Sour, Inc., going 3-0 for the evening. Now on his own thanks to Sweeney, Roderick Strong had to settle for facing Chris Hero while Davey Richards was off in Japan, but came up short. Meanwhile Tank Toland wrestled his first match for ROH in over a year, teaming with Shane Hagadorn in a victory over Mitch Franklin and Silas Young. Additionally, they done went and pissed off Brent Albright, Claudio Castagnoli and Jay Briscoe by attacking them after their Three-Way match. In what has to be one of the most questionable booking decisions ever, Austin Aries, a babyface, took on heel Necro Butcher in a "Relaxed Rules" match, only to stop mid-match to basically announce to the fans who paid to see him that this match wasn't important to him, so he was done for the night in order to save all his energy for his more important match tomorrow night (which was a bigger show in a larger market). Surprisingly, Necro won the match, putting The Age of the Fall at 2-1 for the show. While Tyler Black was successful in his match with Delirious (which brought Rhett Titus into the Delirious/ Daizee Haze love story), Jimmy Jacobs and Joey Mathews came up short in their match against Kevin Steen and El Generico. That match was Matthews' last for ROH, as Austin Aries attacked him after the show in a completely unwatchable segment (seriously, the screen was basically completely black). And Bryan Danielson took on Erick Stevens in a rematch from "Transform", only to once again come out on the losing end [Danielson's career record against Stevens is 0-3, so who really was the best in the world]. The various angles throughout the show led to a huge ECW-style clusterf*** finale, as the post-match happenings of the main event saw a continuous brawl between Sweet n' Sour, Inc., Brent Albright, Claudio Castagnoli, The Briscoes, The Age of the Fall, and Kevin Steen and El Generico. - 2009: ROH held "End of an Age" in Chicago Ridge, IL. The show's name referred not only to The Age of the Fall, which finally died in the same building it was born in ["Man Up" - 9/15/07], but also Jimmy Jacobs specifically, as his six-year run with Ring of Honor came to an end (almost exactly to the day of his debut). The end of The Age of the Fall came about as a reverse of its beginning, with Jacobs being hung from the rafters. Dealing with personal issues including substance abuse, it would be two years before a cleaned-up Jacobs would return ["Supercard of Honor VI" - 5/21/11]. After losing the ROH World Championship at "Supercard of Honor IV" [4/3/09], Nigel McGuinness received his rematch for the title, facing the now-champion Austin Aries in what was their last singles match against each other. Kevin Steen and El Generico had their backs up against the wall in a non-title match with ROH World Tag Team Champions The American Wolves. If they won, they could book any stipulation match for the titles they want; if they lost, they were barred from challenging for the belts for the remainder of the Wolves reign. KENTA's visit to the US saw him take on Tyler Black in the only singles match the two ever had against each other. Colt Cabana and Brent Albrights' feuds with Claudio Castagnoli and The Embassy saw in them team up in a Street Fight. Roderick Strong wrestled D-Lo Brown, Erick Stevens took on Rasche Brown, Petey Williams faced Kenny King, and Delirious won a Six Man Mayhem match over Alex Payne, Egotistico Fantastico, Rhett Titus, Sami Callihan and Silas Young.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 28 - 2003: Ring of Honor held "Wrestlerave 2003" in Philadelphia, PA. The show was named after Special K, who hijacked the building for a huge rave immediately after Homicide and Trent Acid's interpromotional feud saw them face off in a Fight Without Honor. The show let Special K leave on a high note, as they came up short in a Six-Man Tag Team match against the Carnage Crew earlier in the show. Homicide, meanwhile, had to put up with the butting heads of his friends Low Ki and Julius Smokes, who seemed to be reaching a boiling point with their differing philosophies. Simply Lucious returned to let ROH management know that while The Group may be disbanded, they're not done with Ring of Honor. The Group's end came about at "Night of the Grudges" [6/14/03], when Dan Maff pinned ROH World Champion Samoa Joe in a Six-Man Tag Team match to simultaneously win a shot at the title at "Wrestlerave". The title match ended up being one of the most emotional in Ring of Honor history, as Dan Maff's father passed away the night before. Meanwhile, The Prophecy's business continued as they tried to cut a potential future threat off at the knees, with Christopher Daniels aiding Raven in his feud against CM Punk and the Second City Saints. Following the match, Punk cut one of his most iconic promos from his ROH run (which was so nice, they aired it twice, repeating it before his Dog Collar match against Raven at "Death Before Dishonor" [7/19/03]). The NWA World Heavyweight Championship was defended in ROH for the first time as then-champion AJ Styles took on fellow NWA-TNA wrestler Chris Sabin. Frequent Detroit rivals Alex Shelley and Jimmy Jacobs made their ROH debuts, competing in a Four Corner Survival match against BJ Whitmer and Tony Mamaluke. Matt Stryker once again came up short in a singles effort against Chad Collyer, this time in a Tap Out match. The match was originally booked to be Stryker against "Reckless Youth" Tom Carter, but Carter decided he'd rather be there for the birth of his child (on commentary Gabe "Chris Lovey" Sapolsky tried to make Carter look good by saying ROH officials tried to get him to come to the show by pointing out his kid won't remember he wasn't there, which is instead just made ROH management come off bad). Sumie Sakai made her return after a year to face Alexis Laree (Mickie James). The Ring Crew Express, the top tag team in Ring of Honor, finally won their first match by defeating Prince Nana and Jimmy "Jact" Cash. And Jim Cornette appeared on an ROH show for the first time (via taped promo), announcing his upcoming debut ["Wrath of the Racket" - 8/9/03] - 2008: ROH held "Vendetta II" in Chicago Ridge, IL. The show was named after the main event, which saw Austin Aries and Jimmy Jacobs face each other in a singles match for the first time in their very heated feud (and actually in their entire ROH careers). As an added stipulation, the winner would be allowed to book any match they wanted for Ring of Honor's next Chicago show. After laying the groundwork with his match the night before, the victor Aries informed Jacobs that he would be going one-on-one…with The Undertaker, playa fellow Age of the Fall member Necro Butcher ["Night of the Butcher II - 8/16/08]. Necro, meanwhile, spent the night doing Jacobs' dirty work, teaming with ROH World Tag Team Champion Tyler Black to take care of inevitable challengers Kevin Steen and El Generico. After four years away, Jerry Lynn returned to Ring of Honor to compete in a rematch of his last ROH match ["At Out Best"- 3/13/04], facing the now ROH World Champion Nigel McGuinness in a non-title match that kicked off their nine-month-long rivalry. After what seemed like a surprisingly long time for them to think of booking it, Bryan Danielson and Claudio Castagnoli finally faced off against each other in Ring of Honor [they were on opposing teams in the Cage of Death match at "Death Before Dishonor" on 7/15/06, but Danielson was only in it for a couple of minutes to further another angle]. Both feuding with a common enemy, Roderick Strong and Brent Albright teamed up to face Adam Pearce and the newest Sweet n' Sour, Inc. member, Go Shiozaki (which featured a random appearance by The Honky Tonk Man). Fellow SnS member Chris Hero had a surprisingly tough time when he faced Pelle Primeau, a man half his size, in a Lights Out match. Erick Stevens continued his winning weekend with a victory over Jay Briscoe. Delirious and Rhett Titus, both vying for Daizee Haze's affection, teamed up against Alex Payne and Silas Young. And Haze competed in a Three-Way match with frequent rivals Sara Del Rey and the newest member of The Age of the Fall, SHIMMER Champion MsChif. - 2019: ROH held "Best in the World 2019" in Baltimore, MD. Jeff Cobb's streak of never being pinned or submitted in Ring of Honor came to an end when he challenged Matt Taven for the ROH World Championship. More shocking than the loss was how quickly it happened, with Taven winning clean in under ten minutes. It was title shots all around for LifeBlood, as Bandido was the first challenger for new ROH World Television Champion Shane Taylor, while Mark Haskins and Tracy Williams teamed with PJ Black to challenge Villain Enterprises for the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship. LifeBlood seemingly gained a new member in Flip Gordon when he saved them from a post-match beatdown from Bully Ray and the Soldiers of Savagery, but in truth it was just a bunch of new enemies as Flip had already pledged his allegiance to Villain Enterprises. Still pissed off about being disqualified in "The Crockett Cup 2019" [4/27/19], The Briscoes' feud with the NWA saw them taking on NWA World Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis in a tag team match. Aldis was originally scheduled to team with NWA National Champion Colt Cabana, but when Cabana had to pull out of the match due to injury, Aldis teamed with the future LA Knight, Eli Drake. Tied at one win each, Jay Lethal and Kenny King met in the final match of their Best of Three Series. Jonathan Gresham's rivalry with Silas Young saw him compete in his first Pure Rules match, which he won after resorting to the very behavior he would end up shunning during his reign as ROH Pure Champion. Dragon Lee tried to repeated his brother Rush's quick victory over Dalton Castle ["G1 Supercard" - 4/6/19], but was not as successful. And WOH World Champion Kelly Klein teamed up with Jenny Rose in a tag team match against The Allure, which saw the debut of Maria Manic.
