Today in Ring of Honor History: June 29 - 2012: Ring of Honor held a television taping in Baltimore, MD. The night ended up being a lousy one for The House of Truth, as their only success was Rhino winning a couple of squash matches. Truth Martini's hired guns The Guardians of Truth (a.k.a. The Head Bangers) once again came up short against The Briscoes in a rematch from "Best in the World 2012: Hostage Crisis" [6/24/12]. Going from bad to worse, Roderick Strong lost the ROH World Television Championship to rising star Adam Cole. And perhaps their most embarrassing showing of the night, Strong and Michael Elgin's inability to get on the same page led to them being defeated by the Bravado Brothers. Adam Cole, on the other hand, had a successful night, as in addition to becoming the new TV Champion, he teamed with Eddie Edwards in a victory over Mike Bennett and Brutal Bob Evans. Bennett was still able to leave the night with his head held high after defeating Lance Storm in the rubber match of their feud (that match was Storm's last for Ring of Honor). ROH World Champion Kevin Steen went 1-1 for the evening, successfully retaining the ROH World Champion against Mike Mondo, only to end up on the losing end of a Six-Man Tag Team match when he teamed with Jimmy Jacobs and Steve Corino against Jay Lethal and new ROH World Tag Team Champions The All-Night Express. And Kyle O'Reilly took on Matt Taven in what is surprisingly the only singles match the two ever had against each other. - 2018: ROH held "Best in the World 2018" in Baltimore, MD. The various Ring of Honor champions all proved themselves to be the best, as they all emerged victorious in their respective matches. Despite an ever worsening back, Dalton Castle managed to retain the ROH World Championship in a Three-Way match against Bullet Club members Cody and Marty Scurll. Punishment Martinez's feud with Adam Page led him to defending the ROH World Television Championship in a Street Fight, with Martinez walking away the winner. The Briscoes retained the ROH World Tag Team Championship against longtime rivals The Young Bucks (it was a bad night for Bullet Club), and The Kingdom retained the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship against the returning Los Ingobernables de Japón. Even WOH World Champion Sumie Sakai was victorious when she teamed with Jenny Rose, Mayu Iwatani and Tenille Dashwood in an Eight-Woman Tag Team match against Kelly Klein and the visiting Oedo Tai. Former two-time ROH World Champion Austin Aries returned to wrestle what ended up being his last match for Ring of Honor, taking on his former protégé Kenny King. Jay Lethal wrestled KUSHIDA, Jonathan Gresham faced Scorpio Sky, and Flip Gordon squared off against Bully Ray for the first time. - 2019: ROH held a television taping in Philadelphia, PA. Brothers Rush and Dragon Lee teamed together for the first time in Ring of Honor, taking on ROH's resident brother tag team The Briscoes. After being blindsided at "Best in the World 2019" the night before, LifeBlood was out for revenge against ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Villain Enterprises, taking them on in a Street Fight. Jay Lethal teamed with The Bouncers in a Six-Man Tag Team victory over ROH World Champion Matt Taven and The Kingdom. It wasn't all good times for Lethal, however, as he was growing increasingly concerned with his tag team partner and protégé Jonathan Gresham, who once again resorted to cheating to win, this time in a Four Corner Survival match with Dalton Castle, Jeff Cobb and Kenny King. ROH World Television Champion Shane Taylor scored a non-title victory over his former Rebellion teammate Rhett Titus. Future ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions the Soldiers of Savagery made their main show in-ring debut, defeating Primal Fear in a squash match. Tasha Steelz defeated Angelina Love, Jenny Rose and Stella Grey in a Four Corner Survival match to become the new number one contender for the WOH World Championship. Former resident underdog Grizzly Redwood stepped into an ROH ring for the first time in six years to compete in a dark match against Eli Drake. And in a special NWA bonus match, James Storm defeated Colt Cabana to become the new NWA National Champion. - 2021: On Week by Week, the very evil Danhausen teamed up with PCO for the first time to face Homicide and Chris Dickinson of VLNCE UNLTD and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions the Soldiers of Savagery in a Three-Way Tag Team match.

Today in Ring of Honor History: June 30 - 2012: Ring of Honor held "Live Strong" in Belle Vernon, PA. The show was named after the main event, which saw Kevin Steen, who has "LIVƎ" (reading "Evil" backwards) tattooed on his arm, defending the ROH World Championship against perennial contender Roderick Strong. New ROH World Television Champion Adam Cole wrestled a non-title match against Pepper Parks (a.k.a. AEW's The Blade). In a preview of things to come, ROH World Tag Team Champions The All-Night Express split up for the night to compete as singles wrestlers, with Rhett Titus continuing their feud with Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team by taking on Charlie Haas, while Kenny King took part in a "Mike"-heavy Four Corner Survival match with Mike Bennett, Mike Mondo and Mike Sydal. That match ended up being King's last in his initial run with ROH, as a week later he would be stripped of the title and in essence fired from the promotion after competing for TNA. Former tag team partners turned bitter rivals BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs wrestled their first singles match against each other in ROH since the end of their violent feud five years earlier ["Supercard of Honor II" - 3/31/07]. Eddie Edwards and Tommaso Ciampa had their only singles match against each other in Ring of Honor, Jay Lethal took on Kyle O'Reilly in a rematch from "Showdown in the Sun: Day #1" [3/30/12], and The Briscoes' feud with The House of Truth saw them face Michael Elgin and Rhino. - 2018: ROH held a television taping in Fairfax, VA. After a worsening back injury severely hampered his reign, Dalton Castle's time has ROH World Champion came to an end when Jay Lethal defeated him in a Four Corner Survival match with Cody and Matt Taven. Now part of the two-timers club, Lethal's combined reigns would ultimately see him overtake his former mentor Samoa Joe to hold the record of most days as champion. Matt Taven, meanwhile, would pull double duty, teaming with The Kingdom to successfully retain the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship against the makeshift trio of Kenny King, Chuck Taylor and Eli Isom. Silas Young came up short in a match against Chris Sabin to determine the new number one contender for the ROH World Television Championship, which kind of ended up being a blessing in disguise as later in the taping he had to team up with TV Champion Punishment Martinez, along with Bully Ray, in Six-Man Tag Team match against Flip Gordon, Cheeseburger and Josh Woods. STARDOM wrestler Hazuki challenged Sumie Sakai for the WOH World Championship, while her Oedo Tai teammates Hana Kimura and Kagetsu faced Jenny Rose and Mayu Iwatani. Madison Rayne defeated Karen Q, Kelly Klein and Tenille Dashwood in a Four Corner Survival match to become the new number one contender for the WOH World Championship. Los Ingobernables de Japón came out on top in a Three-Way Six-Man Tag Team match against The Hung Bucks and SoCal Uncensored. "The Villain" Marty Scurll kicked off his rivalry with pro wrestling's resident superhero Shane "Hurricane" Helms, Jonathan Gresham and KUSHIDA wrestled their only singles match against each other, and The Briscoes took on Beer City Bruiser and Brian Milonas. - 2021: On Women's Division Wednesday, Alex Garcia took on Gia Scott.

I was at the livE Strong show with a friend of mine. My friend jumped the guardrail during the Charlie Haas match. I was completely bewildered a.) that it happened, and b.) that they didn't kick him out of the building. No fists were thrown or anything, just trash talk. Still, Kevin Kelly leaned over and said "do it again and you're gone" and that was the end of it.
Also, if you ever see me post "VEDA SCOTT'S HOTTER!" about anybody on these boards, it's because of this show. I was trying to trash-talk Maria Kanellis, but nobody in the audience agreed with me on that opinion. *shrug*

Today in Ring of Honor History: July 2 - 2021: Ring of Honor aired their latest episode of television from Baltimore, MD. At the arena, Jonathan Gresham defended the ROH Pure Championship against Fred Yehi. The main event, however, did not take place in Baltimore, as dem boys Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe faced each other one last time in ROH, without even leaving the farm at Sandy Fork, Delaware. Today in Ring of Honor History: July 3 - 2013: For the first and only time in history, the ROH World Championship was declared vacant. Ring of Honor Matchmaker Nigel McGuinness announced that Jay Briscoe had been severely injured at the hands of S.C.U.M. following his title defense against Matt Hardy at the June 23 television taping [Ep. #96], and would not be medically cleared for foreseeable future. As such, McGuinness had no choice but to strip Jay of the title. McGuinness announced a tournament to crown a new ROH World Champion would begin at the television taping on July 27.

Today in Ring of Honor History: July 7 - 2021: On Women's Division Wednesday, Allie Recks, having suffered back-to-back loses two weeks earlier [Ep. #9 - 6/23/21], looked for one more chance to impress when she teamed up with Gia Scott against former Women of Honor World Champion Sumie Sakai and Willow. Despite the win and impressing enough to be awarded a spot in the ROH Women's World Championship Tournament, this was Recks last match for Ring of Honor, as she had suffered a knee injury in her match against Max the Impaler on Ep. #9 and was forced to undergo surgery.

Today in Ring of Honor History: July 8 - 2005: Ring of Honor held "Sign of Dishonor" in Long Island, NY. The Summer of Punk was off and running with new ROH World Champion CM Punk, who had a new suit, new purple hair (which a certain hardcore legend described as being "f***ing ridiculous"), new theme music ("Cult of Personality"), new WWE contract, and a new long line of people pissed off at him. After explaining why he turned heel after winning the title ["Death Before Dishonor III" - 6/18/05], Punk signed his WWE contract on top of the ROH World Championship, angering the likes of Christopher Daniels, James Gibson, Samoa Joe, and the returning Mick Foley (who thought he looked "f***ing ridiculous"). In need of a challenger to defend the title against, Punk chose none of the them, but instead teased Low Ki (who was unavailable), Bryan Danielson (who was unavailable), and both of the Briscoe Brothers (who were unavailable), before settling on Jay Lethal, who pinned Punk at "Back to Basics" [3/12/05]. Lethal pulled double duty on the show, first teaming with his former Special K teammate Dixie in the opening match against FIP tag team The Heartbreak Express. For their parts, Daniels' return match to ROH was against Punk's best friend Colt Cabana, while Joe and Gibson faced each other in a Four Corner Survival match also involving Austin Aries and Homicide. BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs defended the ROH Tag Team Championship against Lacey's Angels. AJ Styles squared off against his former protégé turned enemy Jimmy Rave. Roderick Strong took on Azrieal, Nigel McGuinness wrestled Vordell Walker, and recently fired WWE wrestler Matt Hardy teased his debut. - 2011: ROH held "Tag Team Turmoil" in Richmond, VA. As the name suggests, the show was dominated by tag team action. Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team defended the ROH World Tag Team Championship against Colt Cabana and new ROH World Television Champion El Generico, while the Bravado Brothers, The Briscoes, Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly, and Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander competed in a mini-tournament to determine the new number one contenders. In the main event, new ROH World Champion Davey Richards and former champion Eddie Edwards tried to prove their title switch didn't change their friendship as they teamed together against The House of Truth. And The All-Night Express went solo for the night, competing in singles match. Kenny King was scheduled to face Mike Bennett while Rhett Titus was booked to take on Chris Hero, but when Hero was unable to attend the show due to travel issues, Bennett pulled double duty and wrestled both ANX members. - 2016: ROH held "Women of Honor" and "Aftershock 2016" in Baltimore, MD. The main event of "Women of Honor" saw super popular PWG wrestler Candice LeRae make her Ring of Honor main show debut against the WOH gatekeeper Kelly Klein. Mandy Leon took on Hania the Howling Huntress in a rematch from the Women of Honor episode of ROH TV [Ep. #249 - taped 2/6/16]. Sumie Sakai teamed with Faye Jackson and Solo Darling in a Six-Woman Tag Team match against Deonna Purrazzo, Amber Gallows and Kennadi Brink (Smackdown referee Jessika Carr). Veda Scott took on Jenny Rose, and Taeler Hendrix wrestled "Crazy" Mary Dobson (Riott Squad's Sarah Logan). On the men's card "Aftershock 2016", ROH World Champion Jay Lethal teamed with previous challengers Jay Briscoe and Colt Cabana in a Six-Man Tag Team match against Bullet Club's Adam Cole, Nick Jackson and Adam Page. ROH World Tag Team Champion Christopher Daniels faced off against Moose, while his partner Frankie Kazarian competed in a Four Corner Survival match with Chris Sabin, Donovan Dojak and Mark Briscoe. Kamaitachi's US excursion saw him take on ROH World Television Champion Bobby Fish in a non-title match, marking the only time the two were ever in the ring together. ACH and Silas Young's feud came to a close in a Last Man Standing match. Lio Rush faced newcomer Jay White, The All-Night Express took on Cheeseburger and Will Ferrara, and Joey Daddiego squashed Chase Brown.

Today in Ring of Honor History: July 9 - 2005: Ring of Honor held "Escape from New York" in New York, NY. The Summer of Punk continued with CM Punk once against trying to leave the promotion with the ROH World Championship. After interrupting a Four Corner Survival match to determine the number one contender for the ROH Pure Championship, Punk awarded Roderick Strong a rematch from their clash at "The Future Is Now" [6/12/05]. Punk wanted the match to be non-title, but after some persuasion from Mick Foley (who may have threatened to throw Punk off the balcony), he agreed to put the belt on the line. Alex Shelley ended up replacing Strong in the Four Corner Survival, and worked well with Jimmy Rave against Azrieal and James Gibson to help Rave earn the shot at the Pure title. Meanwhile, the ROH Pure Championship was on the line that night, as Austin Aries tried to repeat his feat from "Final Battle 2004" [12/26/04] and defeat Samoa Joe to become the new champion. Aries was unsuccessful in his attempt, but the Carnage Crew weren't, and defeated BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs to become the new ROH Tag Team Champions. Colt Cabana's feud with Nigel McGuinness saw him put his British wrestling skills to the test in a European Rounds Rules match. Jay Lethal's feud with Low Ki continued by proxy as he took on The Rottweilers' leader Homicide. Dixie teamed with The Ring Crew Express in a Six-Man Tag Team match against Lacey's Angels and Vordell Walker. And then-school teacher and future WWE wrestler Matt Striker wrestled a dark match against The Embassy's "Killer" Mike Kruel. - 2006: The ROH Tag Team Championship was rechristened the ROH World Tag Team Championship after Austin Aries and Roderick Strong successfully defended the titles against Muscle Outlaw'z on night two of Dragon Gate's "Wrestle JAM" in Tokyo, Japan. - 2011: ROH held "No Escape" in Charlotte, NC. The main event saw ROH World Television Champion El Generico's feud with The House of Truth come to an end, as he took on Roderick Strong in a non-title Steel Cage match. Generico's friend and tag team partner Colt Cabana wrestled what ended up being his last match in his second ROH run, taking on Chris Hero, before quietly being let go from Ring of Honor. ROH World Champion Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards took on Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly, marking the only time The American Wolves and Future Shock ever faced each other. ROH World Tag Team Champions Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team wrestled a non-title match against the Bravado Brothers. The feud between The All-Night Express and The Briscoes saw them compete in dual singles matches, with Kenny King facing Mark Briscoe while Rhett Titus took on Jay Briscoes. Mike Bennett squared off with Andy Ridge. And before he secured a spot in New Japan's Bullet Club, Chase Owens tried to secure a spot in The House of Truth, teaming with Michael Elgin against Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander. - 2021: ROH aired their latest episode of television from Baltimore, MD. Faction warfare was on the menu as the main event saw a Three-Way Tag Team match between The Foundation's Jay Lethal and ROH Pure Champion Jonathan Gresham, La Facción Ingobernable's Dragon Lee and Kenny King, and VLNCE UNLTD's Brody King and ROH World Television Champion Tony Deppen. PJ Black and Flip Gordon wrestled their only singles match against each other, and The Briscoes took on Dante Caballero and Joe Keys.

Today in Ring of Honor History: July 11 - 2013: Ring of Honor held "ROH Unauthorized: A Night of Hoopla" in Chicago, IL. The first "ROH Unauthorized", the show was hosted by Truth Martini, with him booking the matches, stipulations and general theme of the show. Martini didn't do any favors for his client ROH World Television Champion Matt Taven, putting him in a non-title Three-Way match against Adam Cole and Eddie Edwards. Despite former tag team partners Cole and Edwards generally working together, Taven still managed to come out on top. Jay Lethal once again donned the bright colors and fringe of "Black Machismo" "The Machismo King", taking on a tassel-wearing, rope-shaking Delirious in a near move-for-move remake of Randy Savage vs. Ultimate Warrior from "WrestleMania VII". The main difference between the two is whereas the "Macho King" lost the match but won the girl, "Machismo King" won the match but lost the girl, that girl being guest referee Maria Kanellis, who was whisked backstage by Mike Bennett after accepting Lethal's marriage proposal. Cheeseburger made his main show in-ring debut, teaming with Roderick Strong to challenge reDRagon for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. What started off as a ladies "Pants Off Dance Off" hosted by former ECW manager Judge Jeff Jones ended in a Lumberjill match between the fun-loving Davey Richards and party pooper Silas Young. In the main event, newlyweds Michael Elgin and MsChif teamed up with BJ Whitmer in a Six-Man Tag against Adrenaline RUSH and Athena (when Elgin tried to wrestle with Athena, MsChif wasn't happy and fans let him know he'd be sleeping on the couch). Jimmy Jacobs, who rose to the top of the charts in 2006 with his hit single "The Ballad of Lacey", gave a performance of his new song "Gypsy Soul". And Truth Martini hosted a live edition of Hoopla Uncut with special guest Satan. - 2015: ROH held the first part of the "Aftershock Tour 2015" in Hopkins, MN. Number one contender Roderick Strong built up momentum for his upcoming World title shot by winning a Three-Way match over AJ Styles and Kyle O'Reilly in the main event. Meanwhile, new ROH World Champion and longest reigning ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal lost a bit of momentum when he unsuccessfully teamed up with Truth Martini against former World Champion Jay Briscoe and ODB. Adam Cole and Bobby Fish wrestled the first of what turns out to be only two singles matches they've ever had against each other in their careers [the second being their ROH World title match at "Manhattan Mayhem VI" - 3/4/17]. Michael Bennett won a Four Corner Survival match over Cheeseburger, Moose and Will Ferrara, while his Kingdom tag team partner Matt Taven was less successful against Michael Elgin. ACH and Dalton Castle wrestled a singles match, the only they've ever had against each other. War Machine took on Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser. And Mark Briscoe wrestled Danny Duggan. - 2021: ROH held "Best in the World 2021" in Baltimore, MD. The pay-per-view was Ring of Honor's first event in front of a live crowd since shutting down for the COVID-19 pandemic over a year before ["Gateway to Honor 2020" - 2/29/20]. In the main event, 2021 Survival of the Fittest winner Bandido defeated Rush to become the new ROH World Champion. However, his celebration was cut short, as La Facción Ingobernable gave Bandido a congratulatory beatdown post-match (starting a mini-tradition that would to Bandido a lot). It wasn't all bad for LFI that night, as Dragon Lee defeated VLNCE UNLTD's Tony Deppen to reclaim the ROH World Television Championship. Meanwhile, VLNCE UNLTD members Homicide and Chris Dickenson won a Fight Without Honor over The Foundation's Jonathan Gresham and Rhett Titus to become the new ROH World Tag Team Champions, marking only the second time Homicide, an ROH founding father, has held Ring of Honor gold. A substitute for Tracy Williams, who was recovering after being hit by a car the month before, Gresham pulled double duty for the show, having first defended his own ROH Pure Championship against Mike Bennett. The Tag title match wasn't the only win VLNCE UNLTD had over The Foundation, as Brody King emerged victorious in a singles match over Jay Lethal (Lethal was originally going to be William's sub in the Tag title match, but Brody done whooped his ass too good). Rounding out the title match, Shane Taylor Promotions successfully defended the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship against the odd, uneasy trio of Dalton Castle, Eli Isom and Dak Draper. The saga of Silas Young and Josh Woods came to an end in a Last Man Standing match. The recently returned PJ Black reunited with his former mentee Brian Johnson one last time to take on The Briscoes. EC3 faced Flip Gordon, former MexiSquad partners Rey Horus and Demonic Flamita squared off against each other, and the very evil team of Danhausen and PCO took on the very angry team of The Bouncers. An extremely disheveled Matt Taven got his rear end handed to him by The Righteous after setting up a future Steel Cage match to end his long running feud with his former friend Vincent. And after unveiling the brackets for the upcoming tournament to crown the new ROH Women's World Champion, Maria Kanellis introduced the final entrant, debuting former TNA and WWE wrestler Chelsea Green…who was unable to compete in the tournament due to a broken arm (which paved the way for Quinn McKay).

Today in Ring of Honor History: July 12 - 2013: Ring of Honor held "Reclamation: Night 1" in Milwaukee, WI. The feud between The American Wolves and ROH World Tag Team Champions reDRagon carried on in singles action, as Eddie Edwards first faced Kyle O'Reilly, followed by Davey Richards taking on Bobby Fish in the main event. ROH World Television Champion Matt Taven competed in a non-title Four Corner Survival match against Adam Cole, Jay Lethal and Michael Elgin. Kevin Steen wrestled Silas Young. Despite S.C.U.M. being disbanded and it's other members banished (with the exception of commentator Steve Corino), Rhino was still around, taking on Tommaso Ciampa. BJ Whitmer faced Michael Bennett, MsChif squared off with Athena, and Adrenaline RUSH got down with the #PartyBoys. - 2014: ROH held "Summer Heat Tour: Aftershock" in Hopkins, MN. After a Six-Man Tag Team match with War Machine against Adam Cole, Matt Hardy and Michael Bennett, now dubbed The Kingdom, ended in a no contest, new ROH World Champion Michael Elgin made his first defense of the title, taking on Hardy. Those match ended up being Hardy's last in his ROH run, making it the only time the original Kingdom wrestled as "The Kingdom". Bobby Fish went solo in defending the ROH World Tag Team Championship against Cheeseburger, while his partner Kyle O'Reilly squared off with Cedric Alexander. Newcomer from New Japan Takaaki Watanabe hoped to earn a shot at the ROH World Television Championship by taking on Jay Lethal in a Proving Ground match. Kevin Steen and Tommaso Ciampa wrestled what is surprisingly the only singles match they've ever had against each other. Silas Young won a Four Corner Survival match over ACH, Matt Taven and Tadarius Thomas to earn a future shot at the ROH World Championship. And The Briscoes took on Roderick Strong and BJ Whitmer of The Decade.

Today in Ring of Honor History: July 13 - 2013: Ring of Honor closed out their triple-shot weekend with "Reclamation: Night 2" in Dearborn, MI. In the main event, Jay Lethal and Michael Elgin continued their team-up from the ROH/S.C.U.M. war, taking on The American Wolves. For the second night in a row, ROH World Tag Team Champions reDRagon went solo against another tag team, this time Adrenaline RUSH. Bobby Fish went 2-0 in singles action for the weekend with a victory over ACH, while Kyle O'Reilly went 0-2, losing to Tadarius Thomas. Kevin Steen took on ROH World Television Champion Matt Taven in a non-title match, and when he lost due to some House of Truth chicanery, he pulled double duty and took on Truth Martini as well. Also pulling double duty was Michael Bennett, who's post match antics after his victory over Andy Muscat angered hometown hero Rhino, resulting in a second match. That match was Rhino's last in his two-year run in Ring of Honor, though he would return for one more night over a year later (which coincidently was "Michael Bennett's Bachelor Party" - 10/9/14). Heading into the ROH World Championship tournament, Adam Cole's slow heel turn continued with him resorting to cheap tactics to defeated BJ Whitmer. Silas Young also tried to score a cheap win over Tommaso Ciampa, but it failed thanks to ROH Matchmaker Nigel McGuinness. And for the third night in a row, MsChif and Athena squared off against each other, this time a Four Corner Survival match with Jenny Rose and Leah Von Dutch. - 2021: On Week by Week, The Bouncers "teamed" with Ken Dixon to take on Primal Fear in a "Six-Man Tag Team match". In truth, he didn't even bother to get dress, but instead just drank beer while The Bouncers wrestled what was essentially a handicap match.

Today in Ring of Honor History: July 14 - 2012: Ring of Honor held "Brew City Beatdown" in Milwaukee, WI. In the main event, The Briscoes took on two of their formerly separate longtime rivals, ROH World Champion Kevin Steen and Jimmy Jacobs, in an "Anything Goes" match which saw crazy man Mark Briscoe hit one of the most insane dives of his career. Following the match, the now ex-ROH World Tag Team Champion Rhett Titus stepped up and vowed to go to war with scum like Steen, Jacobs and Steve Corino. Now on his own for the first time in four years, Titus returned to singles action earlier in the night with a victory over Mike Sydal. Local wrestler and future 2-time ROH World Television Champion Silas Young made his return after a three year absence, taking on House of Truth member Michael Elgin in a show stealing match. Despite Elgin starting to show clear frustrations with Truth Martini and beginning to pull away from the group, it was a banner night for the HOT, going 3-0 for the evening. In addition to Elgin winning against Young, Roderick Strong scored a victory over BJ Whitmer, and Rhino defeated Eddie Edwards in a rematch from "Border Wars" [5/12/12]. Mike Mondo started to show a new attitude, fighting through the pain of an injured ankle in a match against Jay Lethal. Also showing a new attitude was Kyle O'Reilly, who was a super dick to the debuting Tadarius Thomas. And Tony Kozina, Adam Revolver and Shiloh Jonze took on Chris Silvio, Mohammad Ali Vaez and Samson Walker in a Six-Man Tag Team match.

Today in Ring of Honor History: July 15 - 2006: Ring of Honor held "Death Before Dishonor IV" in Philadelphia, PA. After seven long months, the feud between ROH and CZW came to an ended (...mostly). Initially ROH challenged CZW to a Steel Cage Warfare match, but those from the Combat Zone countered that with their own Cage of Death. In the end, they did a compromise of the two, doing a five-on-five Cage of Death with the Steel Cage Warfare format (which is basically WarGames). Heading into the show, both teams had four members announced, with their fifth participants remaining mysteries. Team ROH consisted of Samoa Joe, Adam Pearce, BJ Whitmer and Ace Steel. They hoped to make Homicide the final participant, but when he demanded three wishes to join, ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson volunteered in his place. Additionally, drawing from the WarGames history, former Four Horsemen manager J.J. Dillon was brought in as the coach for Team ROH. Team CZW was made up of CZW World Heavyweight Champion Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli, Necro Butcher and Nate Webb. For their final member, Hero went risky and chose his own hated rival, CZW Tag Team Champion Eddie Kingston in his debut appearance. The resulting bloody brawl saw multiple shocking turns, starting with Danielson's participation merely being a ruse to attack Joe, who was scheduled to face him for the ROH World Championship on August 5 ["Fight of the Century"]. With Danielson gone and Joe forced to withdraw due to injury, Team ROH was down two wrestlers and looked to be heading towards certain defeat when Homicide entered the fray and lead them to victory. The show looked to have a happy ending with Homicide being the savior of Ring of Honor, but it took a turn when one of Homicide's three wishes resulted in him being tied to the ring post and ROH Commissioner Jim Cornette and whipping him with a belt. In addition to nearly costing Ring of Honor a victory in the Cage of Death, Bryan Danielson also continued his quest of proving he was the best wrestler in the world. In keeping with ROH vs. CZW theme of the show, Danielson issued a challenge to defend the ROH World Championship against "the only homegrown CZW wrestler who ever went anywhere", Sonjay Dutt (marking Dutt's return to ROH for the first time since he was pulled from the promotion by TNA in the fallout of the Rob Feinstein Controversy). Nigel McGuinness, out to prove he was the best champion in Ring of Honor, defended the ROH Pure Championship against ROH Word Tag Team Champion Roderick Strong. AJ Styles, whose time in ROH was winding down, returned after a three month absence to take on newcomer Davey Richards in the only singles match the two ever had with each other. Jay Lethal, whose time in ROH was also coming to a close, teamed with Colt Cabana to take on Jimmy Rave and The Embassy's newest member, former ROH Tag Team Champion Sal Rinuaro. That wasn't the only teaming up Cabana looked to be doing that night, as he was caught in the back getting a little cozy with Lacey. The Briscoes and Irish Airborne wrestled the first of what ended up feeling like fifty matches they had against each other in Ring of Honor in 2006. And Delirious took on Seth Delay.

Today in Ring of Honor History: July 16 - 2005: Ring of Honor held "Fate of an Angel" in Woodbridge, CT. The show saw the debut of recently fired WWE wrestler Matt Hardy, taking on the recently returned Christopher Daniels. Also making his debut was future two-time ROH World Tag Team Champion Claudio Castagnoli, who squared off with his soon-to-be rival Nigel McGuinness. The Summer of Punk continued with CM Punk finally defending the ROH World Championship against James Gibson after ducking and dodging him on the two previous shows ["Sign of Dishonor" - 7/8/05; "Escape from New York" - 7/9/05]. Samoa Joe racked up another successful defense of the ROH Pure Championship, retaining it against Jimmy Rave. New ROH Tag Team Champions the Carnage Crew made their first title defense, taking on The Embassy, Lacey's Angels and The Ring Crew Express in an Ultimate Endurance match. AJ Styles and Roderick Strong faced each other for the first time in ROH. Austin Aries took on El Generico. And former Special K member Dixie wrestled his final match for Ring of Honor, competing in a Four Corner Survival match with Azrieal, Kevin Steen and Homicide - 2007: ROH held "Live in Tokyo" in Tokyo, Japan. For their debut show in Japan, Ring of Honor partnered with Pro Wresting NOAH, holding the show in NOAH's home arena of Differ Ariake. In the main event, Nigel McGuinness received his second shot at ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima, but once again came up short. ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes teamed with Naomichi Marufuji in a Six-Man Tag Team match against Matt Sydal and NOAH wrestlers Atsushi Aoki and Ricky Marvin. Bryan Danielson took on Go Shiozaki, which despite being hyped to death after the fact (and it is indeed a very good match), was the only singles match they've ever had against each other, as for some neither ROH nor NOAH every booked a rematch. Delirious' feud with Roderick Strong carried on across the sea, with Delirious coming out on top in a Fight Without Honor. Also carrying on across the sea was BJ Whitmer's losing streak, with him coming up short against Jimmy Rave. Jack Evans teamed with Kotaro Suzuki against the No Remorse Corps. And NOAH young boys Akihiko Ito and Shuhei Taniguchi competed in an exhibition match. - 2010: ROH returned to Philadelphia, PA for another round of HDNet tapings. The 2010 Tag Wars kicked off with the Dark City Fight Club taking on Shawn Daivari and Mr. Ernesto Osiris of The Embassy in a first round match. Meanwhile, new "Crown Jewel" of The Embassy Necro Butcher faced Rasche Brown in a Butcher's Rules match, while Erick Stevens squared off with El Generico. ROH World Champion Tyler Black took on Christopher Daniels in a non-title match, wrestling to a time limit draw. Roderick Strong defeated his former partner Davey Richards to become the new number one contender for the World title, setting up the match where he'd finally claim it ["Glory by Honor IX" - 9/11/10]. The feud between the Briscoes and ROH World Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling saw them compete in rematches from their singles encounters at "Civil Warfare" [5/7/10], with Jay Briscoe again facing Claudio Castagnoli while Mark Briscoe took on Chris Hero. Delirious' feud with Austin Aries saw him have to contend with Aries' lackey Kenny King, while Jerry Lynn faced the other lackey, Rhett Titus. And ROH World Television Champion Eddie Edwards' Ten Minute Hunt found a new victim in J. Freddie. - 2016: ROH held a television taping in Philadelphia, PA. After his first title shot was ruined ["Global Wars 2016" - 5/8/16], Colt Cabana finally received a rematch against Jay Lethal for the ROH World Championship. Meanwhile, the man who ruined Cabana's first title shot, Adam Cole, signed a contract to be Lethal's challenger at "Death Before Dishonor XIV" [8/19/16]. The Young Bucks defeated RPG Vice to become the number one contender's for the ROH World Tag Team Championship, but failed to defeat The Addiction for the titles later in the tapings. The Addiction's new buddy Kamaitachi took on his frequent former CMLL foe Stuka, Jr., the only singles match the two had against each other. Fellow New Japan newcomer Jay White pulled double duty, first defeating Will Ferrara, then wrestling former two-time ROH Word Champion Jay Briscoe to a time limit draw. In a match that'd be really interesting to see today, Adam Page and Jonathan Gresham squared off in a singles match. Lio Rush overcame a slight size disadvantage to defeat Donovan Dijak. The Pretty Boys Killers won a grudge match over former ROH World Tag Team Champions War Machine. And Caprice Coleman and The All-Night Express' new partnership The Cabinet proved to be successful with a victory over Dalton Castle and The Boys. - 2021: ROH aired their latest television episode from Baltimore, MD. Fresh off their losses at "Best in the World 2021" [7/11/21], The Foundation were once again on the losing end after teaming with Joey Keys against Shane Taylor Promotions in an Eight-Man Tag Team match. Hoping to score the final spot in the ROH Women's Word Championship tournament, Quinn McKay once again stepped away from the hostess both and into the ring, taking on Mandy Leon. And Fred Yehi made his final Ring of Honor appearance, squaring off with Rey Horus.

Today in Ring of Honor History: July 17 - 2004: Ring of Honor held "Do or Die III" and "Reborn: Complete" in Elizabeth, NJ. The end of ROH's rebuilding phase after stagnation and the Rob Feinstein Controversy, the show cemented the new status quo in the promotion. The main event saw former foes ROH World Champion Samoa Joe and the Briscoe Brothers team up for a Six Man War against common enemies The Rottweilers. Following the finish, which saw Mark Briscoe sacrifice himself for Joe by jumping in front of him to take a fireball to the face, Low Ki made his return and turned heel, joining The Rottweilers. It would not be the only turn of the night, as CM Punk's feud with Ricky Steamboat saw him turn babyface, saving Steamboat from a Generation Next beatdown. In doing so, Punk started the Second City Saints/Generation Next feud that would last for the remainder of the year. Fortunately for Punk, he got in a little experience with GeNext earlier in the show when he faced off with Alex Shelley and Austin Aries, as well as Matt Stryker, in a Four Corner Survival match as part of a mini-tournament to crown the new ROH Pure Champion. The other tournament Four Corner Survival saw Doug Williams defeat three future Pure Champions, Jay Lethal (now Samoa Joe's protégé and competing under his real name), John Walters and Nigel McGuinness, before defeating Shelley in the finals to win the vacant title. While the Second City Saints' feud with Generation Next was beginning, another one was continuing, as Colt Cabana and Ace Steel faced ex-Prophecy members Dan Maff and BJ Whitmer in a Falls Count Anywhere match. While some feuds were starting and others continuing, one feud came to an end, as the Carnage Crew forced the The New and Improved Carnage Crew to disband after defeating them in a Weapons match (marking the end of Masada's tenure in ROH). And after being dropped from the roster one month earlier ["World Title Classic" - 6/12/04], Jimmy Rave was brought back by Prince Nana as "The Crown Jewel" of The Embassy. The partnership immediately proved to be a successful one, as Rave picked up his second victory ever in Ring of Honor by defeating Trent Acid. Before the main show, ROH held "Do or Die III". Popular West Coast wrestler B-Boy made the trip across country, taking on Josh Daniels in the main event. Delirious and Matt Sydal brought their Midwest rivalry to the East Coast for the first time. Daizee Haze made her ROH in-ring debut, facing Allison Danger. Tony Kozina made his Ring of Honor debut against Angel Dust. And Caprice Coleman made his final appearance until returning in 2011, losing to ROH Tag Team Champion and fellow future commentator Colt Cabana (coincidentally, Coleman's return match at "Champions vs. All Stars " [1/14/11] was also a loss to Cabana). - 2007: ROH closed out their inaugural tour of Japan with "Live in Osaka". Whereas the night before they teamed up with Pro Wrestling NOAH, this night they teamed up with Dragon Gate, resulting in a more tag-heavy card. The main event saw the dream team of ROH's Bryan Danielson, NOAH's Naomichi Marufuji and Dragon Gate's CIMA team up in a Six-Man Tag Team match against Davey Richards and Rocky Romero of the No Remorse Corps, and Dragon Gate's Masaaki Mochizuki. The Briscoes successfully defended the ROH World Tag Team Championship twice, first against Muscle Outlaw'z members Genki Horiguchi and Jimmy Rave, and later in the show against Shingo and Susumu Yokosuke. The longstanding rivalry between Delirious and Matt Sydal continued in Japan, with Delirious teaming with Naruki Doi and Masato Yoshino of Muscle Outlaw'z against Sydal and his Typhoon stablemates Dragon Kid and Ryo Saito. Jack Evans took on his former friend Roderick Strong in a grudge match. And BJ Whitmer racked up another loss, this time against Nigel McGuinness. - 2010: ROH wrapped up their lasted round of HDNet tapings in Philadelphia, PA. The feud between Delirious and Austin Aries continued in a Lumberjack match, with Aries walking away with the win. Steve Corino took on ROH World Champion Tyler Black in a non-title rematch from "Buffalo Stampede II" [6/18/10], while Kevin Steen took on Jerry Lynn in the only match the two ever had with each other. ROH World Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling also competed in a non-title match, facing off with Colt Cabana and El Generico. ROH World Television Champion Eddie Edwards pulled double duty on the taping, first squashing Mike Sydal in a Ten Minute Hunt, then teaming up with Davey Richards against The Super Smash Bros. That match wasn't the Smash Bros.' first of the night, as on the pre-show they faced the Bravado Brothers in an opening round match of the 2010 Tag Wars. The Embassy teamed up in full force to take on Rasche Brown, Grizzly Redwood and the Dark City Fight Club in an Eight-Man Tag Team match. Christopher Daniels and Rhett Titus wrestled their only singles match against each other. Roderick Strong led The House of Truth in a hard-fought victory over Andy Ridge, Mike Bennett and J. Freddie. And The Briscoes wrestled an extended squash match against Alex Anthony and Bobby Shields. - 2015: ROH closed out the "Aftershock Tour" in Las Vegas, NV. The main event was a "Vegas Wild Card" Six-Man Tag Team match which saw former two-time ROH World Champion Austin Aries return after a five-year absence to team with reigning ROH World and ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal and Moose against Jay Briscoe, Kyle O'Reilly and Dalton Castle. ROH World Tag Team Champions Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian, ACH, Bobby Fish, Mark Briscoe and Matt Taven competed in a mini-tournament to determine the number one contender for the TV Championship, with Fish ultimately walking away with the title shot. The Young Bucks and RPG Vice wrestled their first traditional tag team match against each other in Ring of Honor. War Machine took on Kingdom members Adam Cole and Michael Bennett. Nineteen-year veteran Nanae Takahashi made the trip over from Japan to face ODB. And West Coast wrestler Willie Mack made his debut appearance, squaring off with Silas Young.

Today in Ring of Honor History: July 18 - 2014: Ring of Honor closed out the "Summer Heat Tour" in Cincinnati, OH. In the main event, Michael Elgin defended the ROH World Championship against his former House of Truth stablemate Roderick Strong. With his regular partner Alex Koslov out with an injury, Rocky Romero teamed up with Tommaso Ciampa to challenge reDRagon for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal ended up pulling double duty on the show, first defending his title against The Romantic Touch, then later replacing Michael Bennett in a tag team match with Adam Cole against Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian. Though they lost the match, Cole and Lethal did work well together in one aspect, in that they successfully pissed off The Briscoes and War Machine by ruining their first ever match together. Kevin Steen looked to end his final weekend in Ring of Honor on a high note, but lost to Silas Young in a No Disqualification match. Jimmy Jacobs put The Decade's young boys on notices when he replaced Tadarius Thomas in a Six-Man Tag Team match with BJ Whitmer and Adam Page against ACH, Caprice Coleman and Cedrick Alexander. And RD Evans extended #TheNewStreak to 135-0 with a win in a Four Corner Survival match over Ethan Gabriel Owens, Matt Taven and Moose.

Today in Ring of Honor History: July 19 - 2003: Ring of Honor held the inaugural "Death Before Dishonor" in Elizabeth, NJ. Their debut show in the RexPlex, the show drew a then-record setting crowd of 1,200 fans. The show was headlined by Paul London, regarded as Ring of Honor's first homegrown star, challenging Samoa Joe in his farewell match before leaving for WWE. AJ Styles and The Amazing Red made their third defense of the ROH Tag Team Championship, which was against the Briscoe Brothers for the third time, in what was billed as the Briscoes' last chance durning Styles and Red's reign. The match ended up being the last time Styles and Red defended the titles together, as ROH did an angle to keep an injured Red from wrestling in their next title defense ["Wrath of the Racket" - 8/9/03], followed shortly thereafter by Red suffering a torn ACL and the belts being vacated. The biggest match of the night saw hated enemies Raven and CM Punk compete in what was supposed to end their feud, Ring of Honor's first Dog Collar match. However, the post-match angle only saw it heat up even more, as Punk's plan to push Raven off the wagon by forcing him to drinking beer backfired with the surprise appearance of Tommy Dreamer, who helped Raven make Punk drink his own first beer. The most infamous match of the night saw the first (and for over a decade what many assumed would be last) appearance of Jeff Hardy, who competed in a botchtastic match will fellow OMEGA wrestlers Joey Matthews and Krazy K. Leading up to the match Hardy let it be known he no longer cared about wrestling, which won the fans over so much they mercilessly booed him non-stop the entire match. Former ROH Champion Low Ki made his return from injury, wrestling (or as Gary Michael Cappetta put it "murdering") Deranged of Special K. Also returning after several months was fellow former ROH Champion Xavier, who revealed for the first time the upcoming "Field of Honor" was an eight-man tournament. In a match between four guys who would end up having a lot of history with each other, BJ Whitmer defeated Colt Cabana, Dan Maff and Homicide in a Four Corner Survival to win the Number One Contender's Trophy. "Reckless Youth" Tom Carter took on Doug Williams in a singles match, and looked to be setting up an angle with The Prophecy, but that went nowhere as this ended up being his last appearance. Rudy Boy Gonzalez teamed with his Texas Wrestling Academy students to defeat the Carnage Crew in a Weapons match and end their feud. In a continuation of their angle at the end of "Wrestlerave 2003" [6/28/03], The Backseat Boyz teamed with The S.A.T. against Special K in a Tag Team Scramble match (with very loose rules). Tony Mamaluke and John Walters formed their short-lived tag team The Purists, winning their debut match against The Outcast Killaz. Matt Stryker took on newcomer Jimmy Rave. Christopher Daniels racked up Koji Kanemoto's phone bill by making frequent international calls from New Japan. And Jim Cornette sent in another promo building up his debut at "Wrath of the Racket". - 2014: Ring of Honor held a television taping in Dearborn, MI. The show was headlined by Kevin Steen, one of the biggest and hottest stars in Ring of Honor history, taking on his friend Steve Corino in his farewell match before leaving for WWE. Despite the loss of Steen, business had to continue, and continue it did with title shots and title opportunities on the line throughout the night. ROH World Champion Michael Elgin successfully defended his title against ROH World Tag Team Champion Kyle O'Reilly, who earlier in the night successfully defended his title with Bobby Fish against Monster Mafia. Cedric Alexander defeated ROH World Television Champion Jay Lethal, BJ Whitmer, Caprice Coleman, Matt Taven and The Romantic Touch in a Gauntlet match to become the number one contender for the World title, while Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian defeated The Briscoes, The Decade and War Machine in a Four-Way Tag Team match to become number one contenders for the Tag titles. The Decade's young boy Tadarius Thomas took on his former tag team partner ACH, while The Decade's other young boy Adam Page faced Tommaso Ciampa. Former ROH World Champion Adam Cole wrestled Rocky Romero for the first and only time in Ring of Honor. And starting at the very bottom and working his way to the top, future ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham stepped into an ROH ring for the first time in three years, losing to Will Ferrara in a dark match.

The Young Bucks proved themselves the top tag team of the night, winning a non-title Three-Way Tag Team match against two longtime rivals, The Addiction and ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes. Flip Gordon tried to backdoor his way into getting booked on "All In" by challenging Nick Aldis for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. In the lone Ring of Honor title match of the night, Scorpio Sky challenged Punishment Martinez for the ROH World Television Championship. Karen Q hoped to secure a title shot by facing WOH Word Champion Sumie Sakai in a Proving Ground match, but came up short. The show was the start of a format change for the live shows, taping a few matches exclusively for television before streaming the rest of the show live on HonorClub (with several of those matches being shown in whole or part on TV). In the main event of the main show, The Briscoes defeated the Guerrillas of Destiny to begin their eleventh reign as ROH World Tag Team Champions. Despite their Best of Three Series being over, the rivalry between Jay Lethal and Kenny King continued, with both challenging Matt Taven for the ROH World Championship in a Three-Way match. The three members of LifeBlood teamed with PJ Black to score another victory in their feud with Villain Enterprises. Rush took on TK O'Ryan in a rematch of his debut match [ROH TV: Ep. #383 - taped 12/15/18]. Jonathan Gresham and Dragon Lee faced each other for the first time in Ring of Honor, and The Bouncers won a Three-Way Tag Team match over Coast 2 Coast and the Soldiers of Savagery.
