 Today in Ring of Honor History: May 4- 2013: Ring of Honor held "Border Wars 2013" in Toronto, ON. The show was headlined by the first ever singles match between ROH World Champion Jay Briscoe and rising star Adam Cole, who would go on to have a lengthy feud with each other. Mark Briscoe looked to acquire some singles gold for himself, challenging Matt Taven for the ROH World Television Championship. The show was set to see a revival of the partnership between ROH and Pro Wrestling NOAH, with Naomichi Marufuji making his first appearance since 2008, and Taiji Ishimori making his make his US debut. Ishimori made the trip, and faced frequent NOAH competitor Eddie Edwards. Marufuji, however, was forced to pull out of the show due to injury, cancelling his match with Davey Richards. In need of a replacement, ROH brought in the man widely regarded as its original breakout star, Paul London, for his first match in the promotion in a decade. S.C.U.M.'s war with Ring of Honor saw Jimmy Jacobs and Cliff Compton take on Jay Lethal and Michael Elgin, while Rhett Titus fought his former partner BJ Whitmer in an "I Quit" match. Roderick Strong faced Mike Bennett, and C&C Wrestle Factory wrestled ACH and Tadarius Thomas. And after 209 days of being sidelined with an ACL injury, Tommaso Ciampa made his return. - 2021: On Week by Week, Brian Johnson faced the returning Ryan Nova, now known as Ryan Mooney. |

 Today in Ring of Honor History: May 5- 2013: Ring of Honor closed out their weekend in Toronto, ON with a television taping. With "Border Wars 2013" complete, ROH began the build towards their next pay-per-view, "Best in the World 2013" [6/22/13]. C&C Wrestle Factory pulled double duty, first facing Rhett Titus and Cliff Compton of S.C.U.M., and later winning a Three-Way Tag Team against ACH and Tadarius Thomas, and QT Marshall and RD Evans to become the number one contenders for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Jay Lethal became the number one contender for the ROH World Television Championship after beating BJ Whitmer and Mike Bennett in his own Three-Way match. Like C&C Wrestle Factory, Lethal also pulled double duty, facing SCUM's Jimmy Jacobs. Meanwhile, the TV champion Matt Taven faced Pepper Parks (AEW's the Blade) in a Proving Ground match. Former rivals The Briscoes and The American Wolves wrestled their last match against each other. Mark Briscoe pulled double duty, facing former CHIKARA wrestler and WWE jobber Colin Delaney. Kevin Steen faced Adam Cole, Roderick Strong took on Pro Wrestling NOAH's Taiji Ishimori, and Tommaso Ciampa wrestled his first ROH match since being sidelined with a knee injury for nine months. And as a result of SCUM winning their tag team match the night before, Steve Corino began his tenure as commentator that would last for the remainder of his time in ROH. - 2021: On Women's Division Wednesday, The Righteous' Vita VonStarr made her ROH in-ring debut, facing Sumie Sakai. |

 Today in Ring of Honor History: May 6- 2011: Ring of Honor held "Revolution: USA" in Dearborn, MI. One night before Chris Hero challenged Eddie Edwards for the ROH World Championship, the Kings of Wrestling and The American Wolves met in a rematch from "Tag Title Classic II" [12/17/10]. El Generico's feud with The House of Truth saw him face Roderick Strong in a No Disqualification match, while his tag team partner Colt Cabana faced the newest HOT member, ROH World Television Champion Christopher Daniels. After a bloody encounter at "Honor Takes Center Stage: Chapter Two" [4/2/11], the war between The All-Night Express and The Briscoes continued in a First Blood match. Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly faced their biggest test to date, taking on ROH World Tag Team Champions Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team in a non-title match. Homicide took on Tommaso Ciampa in a rematch from "Honor Takes Center Stage: Chapter Two", Michael Elgin faced Andy Ridge, and Grizzly Redwood was an unwilling proxy for Steve Corino in a match against Mike Bennett.  Today in Ring of Honor History: May 7- 2005: Ring of Honor held one of their most highly regarded shows, "Manhattan Mayhem", in New York, NY. With the loss of the RexPlex in Elizabeth, NJ, ROH migrated across the river to the New Yorker Hotel, a stone's throw away from Madison Square Garden. For their first show, Ring of Honor went all out with a stacked card. After five months of feuding, ex-Generation Next leader Alex Shelley challenged current Generation Next leader Austin Aries for the ROH World Championship. Meanwhile, Roderick Strong and Jack Evans challenged BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs for the ROH Tag Team Championship. Samoa Joe defeated his protégé Jay Lethal to become the new ROH Pure Champion. Joe and Lethal would pull double duty, facing The Rottweilers when it was revealed that the still suspended Low Ki was the one who attacked Lethal backstage at "Trios Tournament 2005" [3/5/05]. Lethal and Low Ki would spend the next several months feuding with each other. Speaking of feuds, CM Punk took on Jimmy Rave in a brutal Dog Collar match. Former Special K members Dixie and Azrieal faced Lacey's Angels in a tag team match, with the losing team being forced to disband. The rivalry between Colt Cabana and Nigel McGuinness kicked off in earnest after McGuinness turned heel in their singles match. And James Gibson took on Black Tiger IV (Rocky Romero) in an exhibition match. - 2010: ROH held "Civil Warfare" in Manassas, VA. Christopher Daniels wrestled his first Ring of Honor match in three years and quickly entered ROH World Championship contention, beating Kevin Steen to claim the #2 spot in the Pick 6 Contenders Series. Austin Aries and Rhett Titus faced ROH World Champion Tyler Black and Delirious, while Kenny King defended his #5 spot in the Pick 6 against Colt Cabana. In the third Pick 6 match of the night, Roderick Strong defended the #1 spot against former rival Erick Stevens. The feud between the Briscoes and Kings of Wrestling saw them compete in dual singles matches, with Jay Briscoe facing Claudio Castagnoli, and Mark Briscoe taking on Chris Hero. And Bobby Dempsey became the first challenger in ROH World Television Champion Eddie Edwards' new specialty match, the " Ten Minute Hunt". A precursor to the Proving Ground match, the Ten Minute Hunt saw competitors get a shot for Edwards' TV title if they could last the ten-minute time limit. - 2011: ROH held "Revolution: Canada" in Toronto, ON. Hometown wrestler Michael Elgin got to show off his skills in a "Double Danger" Scramble match, a Six Man Mayhem match were you need to score two pinfalls/submissions to win. Davey Richards faced Kenny King, and Claudio Castagnoli took on Kyle O'Reilly. - 2017: Ring of Honor teamed with New Japan Pro Wrestling to hold the first night of "War of the Worlds Tour 2017" in Toronto, ON. The Addiction teamed with Hiroshi Tanahashi to face their perpetual rivals The Elite. The popular Los Ingobernables de Japón split in half, with Tetsuya Naito and BUSHI taking on The Kingdom, while EVIL and SANADA wrestled a Three-Way Tag Team match against The Briscoes and the team of Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser. Jay Lethal and KUSHIDA met in a rematch from the original "War of the Worlds [5/17/14]. Big man Shane Taylor took on Hirooki Goto. Dalton Castle and The Boys faced the CHAOS contingent of Gedo and Roppongi Vice.  Today in Ring of Honor History: May 8- 2009: Ring of Honor held "Never Say Die" in Boston, MA. Chris Hero challenged Jerry Lynn for the ROH World Championship. The Steenerico/Wolves feud continued as Kevin Steen fought Davey Richards in an "Anything Goes" match. Sonjay Dutt, last seen representing CZW in 2006 ["Death Before Dishonor IV" - 7/15/06], made his return, facing Bryan Danielson and Eddie Edwards in a Three-Way match. Colt Cabana, Brent Albright and Erick Stevens teamed up to take on Claudio Castagnoli and The Embassy in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Former enemies Jay Briscoe and Necro Butcher squared off in one last singles match. Delirious took on Ricky Reyes. And following Player Dos filling in for El Generico at "Tag Title Classic" [4/18/19], The Super Smash Bros. made their main show debut, facing Rhett Titus and Kenny King- 2010: ROH held "Supercard of Honor V" in New York, NY. After two Three-Way matches involving Austin Aries, Roderick Strong finally got his one-on-one match against Tyler Black for the ROH World Championship. The Motor City Machine Guns made a one night return from TNA, challenging the Kings of Wrestling for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Also making a return was Amazing Kong, taking on Sara Del Rey. Colt Cabana fought Kevin Steen in a 34th Street Deathmatch as part of the Steen/Generico feud. After injuring Delirious' throat back in March [ROH on HDNet: Ep. #56 - 3/5/10], Austin Aries tried to make amends so he could transition from wrestler to manager, but Delirious was not in a forgiving mood. Christopher Daniels and Eddie Edwards faced each other for the first time ever. The Briscoes took on Rhett Titus and Kenny King. And with Necro Butcher out injured at the hands of The Embassy, Grizzly Redwood stepped up to face Erick Stevens. In doing so, Redwood showed everyone he had balls…as the late Balls Mahoney was his surprise backup against The Embassy. - 2016: ROH teamed with New Japan Pro Wrestling to present "Global Wars 2016" in Chicago Ridge, IL. After five years away from Ring of Honor, Colt Cabana returned to his hometown to challenge Jay Lethal for the ROH World Championship. The match ended in major controversy, as the finish saw Bullet Club interfere to unveil their newest member, Adam Cole. Bullet Club already had a banner night, with The Young Bucks and Guerrillas of Destiny beating Matt Sydal, KUSHIDA and the Motor City Machine Guns in an Eight-Man Tag Team match. After months of chasing the title, Bobby Fish defeated Tomohiro Ishii to become the new ROH World Television Champion. Fish's first challenger was already lined up, as earlier in the night Dalton Castle won a Four Corner Survival over ACH, Adam Page and Roderick Strong to become the new number one contender. The Briscoes challenged War Machine for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Moose teamed with Kazuchika Okada to face Hiroshi Tanahashi and Michael Elgin. Kyle O'Reilly took on Tetsuya Naito, Cheeseburger teamed with Jushin Liger to face The Addiction, and in a bonus pre-show match, Juice Robinson made his ROH debut, partnering with Kamaitachi (Hiromu Takahashi) in a Three-Way Tag Team match against The All-Night Express and the duo of Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser. - 2019: ROH and New Japan teamed up to hold night one of the "Wars of the Worlds Tour 2019" in Buffalo, NY. The main event saw the first ever singles match between Flip Gordon and Bandido. New ROH World Tag Team Champions the Guerrillas of Destiny made their first title defense, taking on Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham. Villain Enterprises defended the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship against ROH World Television Champion Jeff Cobb, Satoshi Kojima and Yuji Nagata, Kelly Klein defended the WOH World Championship against Kate Carney. Former Resilience teammates Austin Aries and Erick Stevens met in a rematch from "Proving Ground" [1/11/08]. Despite his popularity now, Page joining went over like a lead balloon, and was seen by some as the death knell for Bullet Club. The Addiction defeated War Machine in an impromptu match to win the ROH World Tag Team Championship for a second time. Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian had an advantage going into the match, as earlier in the show War Machine defended the titles against Kazuchika Okada and Gedo. ROH World Champion Jay Lethal and IWGP Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito teamed up to faced new ROH World Television Champion Bobby Fish and his reDRagon partner Kyle O'Reilly. The former TV champion Tomohiro Ishii took on ROH's big man Moose. Hiroshi Tanahashi and Michael Elgin tagged together against The All-Night Express, Dalton Castle faced KUSHIDA, and Roderick Strong took on Lio Rush. - 2018: ROH and New Japan were back at it with night one of the "War of the Worlds Tour 2018" in Lowell, MA. The Kingdom defeated SoCal Uncensored to official reclaim what they felt they never really lost, the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship. The match was a makeup to the fans, as Matt Taven was originally scheduled to face Dalton Castle for the ROH World Championship, who was unable to compete due to his worsening back issues. Vinny Marseglia and TK O'Ryan pulled double duty, having first competed in their originally scheduled match against Coast 2 Coast. Los Ingobernables de Japón made the trip in full force, with BUSHI and Hiromu Takahashi facing The Young Bucks in the main event, and Tetsuya Naito, EVIL and SANADA taking on Silas Young, Beer City Bruiser, and Brian Milonas in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Roderick Strong defended the FIP World Heavyweight Championship against former champion Erick Stevens and future champion Go Shiozaki in a Three-Way match. After defeating Adam Pearce and his man servant Shane Hagadorn in back-to-back singles matches, American Dragon teamed with the now leaderless Resilience to face the No Remorse Corps in a Six-Man Tag Team match. With ROH set to tape their first pay-per-view the following night, Pro Wrestling NOAH's Naomichi Marufuji and KENTA made their returns, taking on Matt Sydal and Delirious respectively in singles matches. ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima teamed with BJ Whitmer to challenge The Briscoes for the ROH World Tag Team Championship. The show was headlined by the first appearance of then TNA wrestler Christian Cage, who teamed with Colt Cabana to face ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson and Christopher Daniels. The war between ROH and CZW saw Adam Pearce and BJ Whitmer take on the Kings of Wrestling, marking the first time Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli teamed together in Ring of Honor. The feud between Generation Next and The Briscoes continued in singles action with Austin Aries facing Jay Briscoe while Roderick Strong took on Mark Briscoe. Steen beating Richards was the very, very beginning in ROH turning that ship around.
I liked the SCUM angle more than most and it really added an element of good surprises and entertaining unpredictability. While Cornette's booking through mid-2013 and especially the blowoff did inadvertently make the ROH side look super weak (requiring an entire focused year of booking to rebuild Elgin and Lethal from scratch), and maybe a chunk of the ROH longtime fans were factioned-out by then, but there's a lot to really like about it. Steen being forced to have every match be a title match and Cornette (kayfabe) having to resort to bringing in talent from other companies to try to rescue the belt from him, such good times. Plus, the atmosphere whenever Steen would walk into an indy ring in 2012-2014 - just an absolute moment.
The bulk of ROH 2012 looks good-to-great on paper but more often than not smells funny with a handful of gems. Steen's title reign was absolutely that year's shining star.

The show was basically a sequel to "Stalemate" [4/16/05], and like it, the name had a double meaning. With both wrestlers tied at two wins apiece, the main even saw Bryan Danielson and Homicide end their Best of Five Series in a Steel Cage match. Meanwhile, with their encounter a month earlier ending in a draw, Austin Aries and James Gibson met in a rematch for the ROH World Championship. Taking a break from Jimmy Rave, CM Punk teamed with Ace Steel to challenge BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs for the ROH Tag Team Championship. In a smart bit of continuity, despite the fact their feud had been over for almost a year, Whitmer and Saints were still pissed at each other, with Whitmer going so far as to trying to get Jacobs not to shake hands with them. Jimmy Rave, meanwhile, continued The Embassy's other feud, facing Matt Sydal. Colt Cabana continued his feud with Nigel McGuinness by teaming up with the returning Doug Williams to take on McGuinness and his old partner Chad Collyer. Having already faced two of his three former teammates, Alex Shelley finally squared off with the only remaining member of Generation Next, Roderick Strong. The former Ebessan returned as Ebetaro, and took part in a vicious, hard hitting Four Corner Survival match against Delirious, Jack Evans and Samoa Joe. And after a seven month absence, Matt Stryker made his return, taking on The Masked Chicago Superstar. - 2006: ROH held "Ring of Homicide" in Edison, NJ. After sitting out the whole of the feud so far, Homicide finally entered the war between Ring of Honor and Combat Zone Wrestling. After the scheduled match between Samoa Joe and Necro Butcher resulted in another ROH/CZW brawl, Homicide stepped up to take on Necro. Following a strong, bloody showing at "The 100th Show" [4/22/06], Delirious got a rematch against Bryan Danielson for the ROH World Championship. The Briscoes finally received a shot at the ROH Tag Team Championship, challenging Generation Next. Jay Lethal returned after a nearly three month absences to challenge Nigel McGuinness for the ROH Pure Championship. Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal wrestled each other for the third time this year. In a first time ever match, Colt Cabana took on the former Ebessan and Ebetaro, Kikutaro. And Jimmy Yang wrestled his final match for ROH before returning to WWE, taking on Jimmy Rave. It was a long day for several of the wrestlers, as they also appeared at CZW's "Best of the Best 6" in Philadelphia, PA. Kyle O'Reilly challenged The Addiction for the ROH World Tag Team Champions in a handicap match, setting up their match at the PPV. And former tag team partners Cheeseburger and Brutal Bob Evans met in a grudge match. The rest were largely one-off matches. AJ Styles and The Young Bucks represented Bullet Club in a Six-Man Tag Team match against Kazuchika Okada and Roppongi Vice, while Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows took on Michael Bennett and Matt Taven of The Kingdom. Roderick Strong wrestled Shinsuke Nakamura, Matt Sydal and ACH faced Hiroshi Tanahashi and Tetsuya Naito, Michael Elgin took on Gedo, Will Ferrara met KUSHIDA, and Dalton Castle and Jushin Liger squared off for the first time. The Decade tried to test Colby Corino by having him first face Moose, and then teaming with Adam Page against War Machine. Moose also pulled double duty, facing Cedric Alexander. |

 Today in Ring of Honor History: May 17- 2003: Ring of Honor traveled to London, England to partner with Frontier Wrestling Alliance for "Frontiers of Honor". The show largely consisted of ROH and FWA wrestlers competing in interpromotional matches, the most notable being Samoa Joe defending the ROH Championship against Zebra Kid (the half-brother of Paige). After the successful defense, the title was rechristened the ROH World Championship. Christopher Daniels faced Jody Fleisch, Low Ki faced Flash Barker, AJ Styles faced Jonny Storm, Paul London faced James Tighe, and Mikey Whipwreck faced Jack Xavier. In strictly FWA matches, future WWE pirate Burchill wrestled Double Dragon in a handicap match, while Alex Shane, Nikita and Ulf Herman took on The Family in a hardcore match. - 2014: Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling concluded their first tour together with "War of the Worlds" in New York, NY. Unlike "Global Wars" [5/10/14], which saw the promotions hold separate matches, "War of the Worlds" saw them compete entirely in interpromotional matches. At "Supercard of Honor VIII" [4/4/14], Michael Elgin defeated Kevin Steen to win a title shot for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. At New Japan's "Wrestling Dontaku 2014" [5/3/14], AJ Styles defeated Kazuchika Okada to become the new champion, making the main event Styles vs. Elgin for the title. However, at the start of the show, Okada was added to the match, making it a Three-Way. Sometimes fans begin turning on wrestlers without warning, and other times it can be traced back to specific moments. This was the moment for fans turning on Elgin, as they were more interested in seeing Styles vs. Okada and felt Elgin was undeserving of being put in at the last minute, instead of what he actually was, the first person announced for the match. Adam Cole defended the ROH World Championship against Jushin Liger, while Jay Lethal defended the ROH World Television Championship against KUSHIDA, and The Briscoes challenged Bullet Club's Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows for the IWGP Tag Team Championship. reDRagon, backed up by UFC fighter and future MLW wrestler "Filthy" Tom Lawlor, defeated The Young Bucks in a show stealing match to reclaim the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Kevin Steen faced IWGP Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura for the first time, Michael Bennett wrestled Hiroshi Tanahashi, Roderick Strong and BJ Whitmer of The Decade took on Gedo and Jado of CHAOS, and Tommaso Ciampa, Matt Taven and ACH teamed up against the Forever Hooligans and Takaaki Watanabe. And after three years away, Christopher Daniels announced he was returning home to Ring of Honor, and he wasn't coming alone. |

- 2012: Ring of Honor held a television taping in Baltimore, MD. The show was a night a double duty for the wrestlers, as several competed in multiple matches. Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards wrestled each other for the last time in ROH, then Richards teamed with Kyle O'Reilly to face Kevin Steen and Jimmy Jacobs, while Edwards also faced Brutal Bob Evans. Tommaso Ciampa first wrestled a squash match against Nick Westgate, then later challenged Roderick Strong for the ROH World Television Championship. Strong, meanwhile, won a dark Four Corner Survival match over Adam Cole, Jay Lethal and Mike Bennett to win a shot at the ROH World Championship. Cole would also wrestle Mike Mondo, while Lethal would take on Chris Silvio, and Bennett faced Adam Page in his debut match. The Briscoes took on QT Marshall and Sam Shaw (a.k.a. Dexter Lumis), The All-Night Express faced Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander, and The House of Truth's present met its future when Michael Elgin squared off against Matt Taven. - 2013: ROH held "Relentless" in Richmond, VA. The show was the beginning of the end for the war between Ring of Honor and S.C.U.M., as Steve Corino issued a challenge to ROH Matchmaker Nigel McGuinness for a Four-on-Four match at the June 23 television taping. If Team ROH wins, SCUM will leave Ring of Honor; if SCUM wins, Corino replaces McGuinness as the new Matchmaker. In what should've been a warning to Corino, things were not successful for SCUM that night, with Jimmy Jacobs losing to former leader Kevin Steen in a No Disqualification match, while Rhett Titus and Cliff Compton fell to The American Wolves. In the main event, BJ Whitmer looked to complete his redemption for years of bad life choices when he challenged Jay Briscoe for the ROH World Championship. Jay Lethal teamed up with C&C Wrestle Factory to face ROH World Television Champion Matt Taven and ROH World Tag Team Champions reDRagon in a Six-Man Tag Team match. Adam Cole and Adam Page faced each other for the first time ever. Mark Briscoe gained momentum heading into his title match against his brother Jay at "Best in the World 2013" [6/22/13] with a victory over Roderick Strong. Michael Elgin wrestled Kyle Matthews, and Tommaso Ciampa took on Chris LeRusso. - 2021: On Week by Week, Wheeler Yuta made his final ROH appearance (before the Tony Khan buyout), facing World Famous CB in a Pure Rules match. |

 Today in Ring of Honor History: May 19- 2012: Ring of Honor held "The Battle of Richmond" in Richmond, VA. Fans in attendance got to see not one, not two, but three Charlie Haas matches in one night. After first teaming with Shelton Benjamin to face the Bravado Brothers, Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team next defended the ROH World Tag Team Championship against The All-Night Express, before Haas went solo to close out the show in an unsanctioned match against Jay Briscoe. Jay, meanwhile, also teamed up with his brother Mark Briscoe to take on The House of Truth, still trying to get that $5000 from Truth Martini [ROH TV #21 - taped 1/7/12]. Davey Richards was originally scheduled to team with Kyle O'Reilly to face ROH World Champion Kevin Steen and Jimmy Jacobs in a tag match, but with Steen suffering a concussion the night before, Richards and Jacobs instead faced each other in what was the only singles match they had together in ROH. Eddie Edwards faced Mike Bennett in a grudge match, Adam Cole wrestled Tommaso Ciampa, and Jay Lethal took on Mike Mondo. - 2021: On Women's Division Wednesday, Max the Impaler took on Hyan. |

 Today in Ring of Honor History: May 21- 2010: Ring of Honor kicked off another round HDNet tapings in Philadelphia, PA. After returning at "The Big Bang!" [4/3/10] by calling Davey Richards, Christopher Daniels and Richards had their first showdown, with Daniels teaming with Roderick Strong to take on The American Wolves. Meanwhile, ROH World Television Champion Eddie Edwards pulled double duty, wrestling Nick Westgate in a Ten Minute Hunt. ROH World Champion Tyler Black faced El Generico in a non-title match, while ROH World Tag Team Champions the Kings of Wrestling had a non-tile match against the Dark City Fight Club. Jerry Lynn teamed up with Delirious for a grudge match against Rhett Titus and Kenny King, who after teaming together for over a year and a half finally had a name: The All-Night Express (in storyline their manager Austin Aries came up with the name as a dig at Jim Cornette's former team The Midnight Express). The feud between Necro Butcher and Grizzly Redwood against The Embassy took on a new twist with the debut of The Embassy's new crown jewel…the Necro Butcher. And Jenny Rose, then known as Jamilia Craft, made her ROH debut, facing Daizee Haze. - 2011: ROH held "Supercard of Honor VI" in Chicago Ridge, IL. After losing the ROH World Championship at "Manhattan Mayhem IV" [3/19/11], Roderick Strong received his rematch against Eddie Edwards in what was overall an unsuccessful night for The House of Truth. In addition to Strong failing to recapture the title, Colt Cabana defeated ROH World Television Champion Christopher Daniels in a non-title match, while Michael Elgin fell to Homicide. Davey Richards seemed to have a banner night, defeating ROH World Tag Team Champion Charlie Haas in a singles match, but ended the show being challenged to a match by his tag team partner and friend Eddie Edwards. The other half of the tag champs, Shelton Benjamin, continued Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team's feud with the Kings of Wrestling by taking on Claudio Castagnoli. Meanwhile, Chris Hero wrestled El Generico, and although he had the looks and could wield the hammer, he did not have the powers of Thor. The All-Night Express continued their war with The Briscoes in a brutal Street Fight. Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly once against faced off with the Bravado Brothers. And before his grudge match with Michael Bennett, Steve Corino finally announced his sponsor who had be helping him in his recovery from evil, the returning Jimmy Jacobs. - 2021: Ring of Honor aired their latest episode of television from Baltimore, MD. Rocky Romero faced Fred Yehi in a Pure Rules match, while The OGK challenged The Foundation for the ROH World Tag Team Championship in main event. And Flip Gordon issued a challenge to Rush for the ROH World Championship, but got EC3 instead. |
