Looking back WCW tried so many times to put some sort of group or stable around Vampiro, and it was done pretty lousy each time-and in some cases it raises more questions than anything. Correct me if wrong, but first it was The Misfits; now, having them interact with Vampiro in some capacity it’s was not the worst idea, the aesthetic certainly fit, but putting untrained celebrities in the ring is always a risky prospect-and especially since, as I recall more often than not they served as beatdown fodder and if anything cost him more wins than helped him. It was also during this time he had a short program with Alex Wright as Berlin and also with David Flair along with Crowbar and Daffney-but would it not have arguably been more fitting to have had them become his stablemates instead of The Misfits, fitting with the goth/disturbed imagery of his gimmick?
Next it was ICP. They at least had the experience to look credible in the ring and actually came across as helping him score wins. This new faction also included Raven; now, Raven taking Vampiro under his wing and teaching to be a charismatic, brainwashing cult leader like he had been might have worked-if Raven had not departed WCW after only a handful of appearances with this group. This one didn’t last long after that.
Next, fresh off his feud with Sting, Vampiro started trying to recruit various face painted wrestlers. He started with the KISS Demon and then also included The Great Muta, and ICP came back into it too. This one was one of the weirdest, most random pairings and really the whole thing seemed just he about all of them wearing face paint. Early on it was also implied Vampiro was acting on behalf of some higher power, complete with a slut of him talking to an unifentified figure in a Druid hood-who was promptly never seen again. I’ve heard rumors it was meant to be Christopher Daniels, but I suspect that’s bunk.,
I miss anything?
