Idk when or if they'll do it, but it'd be fresh and cool.
Mox is one of those talents are so good at being a likeable face that people want to see and cheer, that he never really needs to be heel to be over. But if he is a heel, he totally nails it.

It's funny, before the Shield broke up everyone assumed Mox was going to be a huge monster heel since it seemed like such a natural fit for his character, and then it just... never happened.
Honestly I think he can do a pretty good job of turning the crowd on him. He's arrogant and unsympathetic in some ways as a face, you can turn that up a few notches and combine with him being an overly violent SOB and he'll get booed, especially against a face the crowd really likes (as his confrontation with Hangman showed).

I dunno what it is but be it in WWE or AEW I've just never had any desire whatsoever to see Moxley as a heel. One of those guys who I'm perfectly fine with just being a career face. He might not be as much of a mainstream star, but he's the closest thing we have to a modern Steve Austin. He's a bad ass face, and that doesn't need to change. You can be a bad ass face and fight other faces for titles and stuff.

I think this was the first hint of where his heel run was gonna go: It's always gonna be a big what if to how the tournament finals would have gone had Moxley stayed and had Danielson's spot in the feud after (just speaking like narratively of course and not lamenting the fact that the dude went to rehab or anything ofc). I'd guess instead of the hour long draw it'd be a last man standing match, then a more hardcore stip for the rematch. mobile.twitter.com/AEW/status/1452085277384749058One of my favorite promos. Moxley going on an onslaught for his baby daughter was looking to be something.

AEW are sometimes really good at not giving you what you want, but in a good way. I honestly have a vague feeling he may turn heel immediately on his return night.

I, for one, love babyface Jon Moxley and his irritable dad vibe.

I've said it on the WWE board, but it's still a little weird to me that violent psychopath Jon Moxley became a huge face, while white meat flippy boy Tyler Black became one of the slimiest heels in wrestling.

At the time, I thought it was a super inspired choice, and I think it holds up today. Both of them went against expectations and demonstrated that each had a ton more depth than anyone thought they had. It's up there with the best booking decisions WWE made in the 10's.

It's funny you bring up this promo where he talks trash about Hangman about 30 seconds in, which got further continued in the Casino Ladder match when the fans were booing the shit out of Mox every time he interacted with Page. Though, if he feuded with Hangman, it wouldn't an overt heel Mox, but a tweenerish version who ends up giving Hangman some respect after he beats him. I think the whole "tough love" thing would work better here with Mox than it would've with Danielson.

Heel Mox absolutely has to win the title from Hangman Page
