Jericho's been bad for a while now. That shit works in WWE where they got a particular promo style but in AEW you can only go so long to where it looks lame. Actually, that shit wouldn't even work in today's WWE. If somebody said that today we'd be having threads clowning em.
Jericho needs to morph into another character because this "middle aged dad trying to be hip" thing isn't working anymore.

His shoes make me mad every week now. He looks like he is coming to the ring to buy teens beer illegally.

The thing with Jericho is that for as praised and loved as his reinventions will be, he has absolutely brutal falling-off points before he revamps. He'll run out of steam, do some really cringeworthy stuff, fall into a rut of diminishing returns and embarrassment, and just kinda keep getting worse until he has to change shit up. Which isn't a defense of him; he lets this shit run on way too long every time and it's absolute death, but it's a part of his cycle. I'm sorta fine with him just f***ing off instead of reinventing, though. It’s like he’s forgotten his reinvention modus operandi since AEW began. He could use a revamp.

Jericho has always been a cheesy face. When that was new during his late-Attitude era run, it was almost charming and he could get away with it. Now, it's just cheesy and lazy. As a heel, he tends to get more inventive with his character work and promos 110% this. I haven’t even read the rest of the thread, but this has always been my opinion. Dude is f***ing brilliant as a heel, but as a face he gets annoying as f***. But a significant segment of the audience loves him as a face (except Me Want Title Match, everyone hated that month) so I get why he leans into what he does as a rock star frontman style babyface

His jokes are lame so I'm not laughing. He's a legend who's been on top for so long that he's not an underdog. He's dressing worse than his opponents so no I don't think that's cool. They gotta give me something here. Granted, I dislike Jericho these days due to off-screen stuff but from an on-screen perspective they're giving me nothing.

If Jericho's ego can bear it, there's a good story to be told in a heel Jericho that knows he's at the end of his career but is fighting against it by doing all he can to stay relevant. Kingston is a hot act that everyone loves? Fine! I'm going to show I'm still relevant by jumping into his feud and riding his heat.
Basically, what he's doing now but self-aware, more vicious, and purposefully heel.

He still gets huge reactions wherever he goes so he has no incentive to change what he's doing right now.

That promo was awful. His watered down babyface Y2J stuff really doesn't work in AEW. Can't wait for him to get destroyed on the mic by Kingston.

I don't think he's got bad on the mic, but certainly nowhere near as good as he was. Compare this with attitude era Jericho is like comparing night and day

I really, really am excited to see Kingston get Santana and Ortiz away from Jericho. Inner Circle's a zombie faction right now.

I do like the current direction with Eddie. I think it will force Jericho to step his game up. He's too proud to let himself get shown up to this degree in a feud like this.

Jericho was completely serious with Eddie, no stupid jokes about mocking his appearance or something like that, true Jericho gotta step up because the crowd pretty much sided with Eddie at the end of the show.

I feel like anything Jericho touches right now turns to ice, though. Eddie had people losing their minds for him in a feud with CM Punk and now I kinda feel like he's kinda back to where was before that one. If I were Tony, I'd be seriously asking myself how much it's worth keeping Jericho around when his contract's up. It's nothing something I thought I'd say before but CJ really feels out of place in the current AEW landscape.

The endgame should be IC being dead and Kingston with PnP holding championships.

Their little spat was great last night and that’s on Eddie. He brings out the best in people character/promo-wise. Count me in with the “lets end inner circle plz” gang.

The audience is picking Eddie Kingston over pretty much everyone. He really needs programs with Cody & MJF soon.

I believe it was the crew at WrestleTalk that had the take of with him dying his hair, that he’s initially playing into having a mid-life crisis and thst his recent lame promos have reflected that.
And considering Jericho’s knack for reinvention, that wouldn’t completely surprise me, but at the same time there’s a part of me that things Chris is just washed as an on-screen performer and is on the verge of generating go-away heat from the AEW audience.
