That is...not good....but I guess not bad considering we may as well conclude it held steady.
But then again this show was promoted pretty heavly and had both Styles and Riddle and also the added of WALTER's return so for the rating to stay about the same as last week is not a good look at all when you take into account all they did to stack this show.

By comparison Halloween Havoc did 746,000 viewers and a 0.18 demo.

I think WWE was gambling on that being much higher by sending Styles down there at the very least, and putting three big title matches on the card. Problem is all of the cuts on top of a lot of the talent featured on that card were just not interesting.

This is what happens when you overexpose talent. AJ Styles and Riddle can be seen literally all the time. Nothing special about them showing up on NXT, even if it's a banger of a match. People can just watch it later if they really want.

By comparison last year's New Years Evil had 641,000 viewers.
But huge caviat is that this was happening when the riots were taking place.

They also stacked the show in general. Not just AJ and Riddle and WALTER. But three title matches (one of them a unification match) and having several of their big new stars win as well.
So this being the best they could do, isn’t encouraging.

I don't know if this is a controversial thought, but.... Is AJ really a draw right now? It really feels like WWE has hurt the drawing power of AJ Styles. Now, if he were to leave, I'm sure interest in him would immediately get big again... but right now, in WWE, I just think AJ is a giant "meh" right now. Just my opinion.

So this being the best they could do, isn’t encouraging. I mean the men's division going forward is going to be a whole lotta meh. I don't really care for Greyson Waller. He's fun to riff on, but he's okay at best in the ring, and kind of a bad person irl. And his anti-smark gimmick is the same one WWE loves to use a million times. The women's division is heading back towards the divas era in terms of the gimmicks that Vince, Bruce, etc want to see on top.

The ratings are what they are, but I thought it was the best episode of the new NXT yet.

I thought it was a good show, with built storylines and an eye to moving things on.
But they are totally fighting the fans of the older NXT, many of whom hate this new version and hate the loss of some and re-focus of others - and haven't done enough to attract new ones - so this is what they get.
As much as Breakker is clearly this generations 'once in a generation luck out talent' he isn't a draw yet, and the 'older' guys who were are now on the other show.

Not sure if that's exactly great given it was a special show with multiple title matches and matches intended to draw, but it also might be an indictment on how badly they've booked AJ and Riddle too when they expect them to suddenly help the third brand and they've both done nothing but lose on RAW for what feels like months in big situations.

When was this said? Because a couple of weeks ago he said they were concerned. Last week's Mat Men Was this before or after last weeks ratings came out? because if it was after well that explains that since it bounced back from previous week pretty largely.
