94's nothing to sneeze at and he survived an additional 2+ years after Don LaGreca accidentally killed him off on his 92nd birthday. But I think he was one of the last big names from the Golden Age of Hollywood still around. Also a hell of a trailblazer for Black men in the movie industry, being the first ever Black man to win an Oscar for Best Actor.
RIP Sidney.

That's freaky. Last night I was watching "Mr. Warmth - The Don Rickles Project" on Prime and he was being interviewed and I thought he was the last of that generation of interviewees that was still alive. RIP to an absolute legend.

RIP. Not a big fan but I know of his work and did like To Sir With Love (out of my Lulu fandom...the version of the song in the movie is better than the recorded version, BTW)
Just a downer that everything is changing and people who were around for all the lifetime of a lot of us...aren't here anymore now.

RIP. I'll always remember when he was randomly name-dropped on an episode of Rugrats.
"Stu, guess who's coming to dinner?"
"Sidney Poitier?"

"Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" is one of the most powerful films I've ever seen.

I know he’s put in a lot better performances but my favourite film of his is Deadly Pursuit (it’s called something different in the US). It was the first film he acted in after taking a decade off from it (he did direct some films then, including Stir Crazy) and it’s a real under-seen gem. There’s very few actors who did as much for civil rights as he did and he is more than worthy of legend status. RIP
