First time they've had a single's match against each other in over 2 years.
And I'm ok with this. Why? They're both heels with completely new gimmicks so this feels fresh to me.
Let's get it.

I can't remember the last Rumble that had two world title matches as hype as this. Honestly it's been forever since a WWE PPV in general has had two world title matches this good.

Great to see the Brand Split means something.

This’ll only be the second time they’ve had this match on PPV, the other being Money In The Bank 2016, one that Rollins won the belt in, only to be cashed in on by Ambrose directly afterwards. One match was scheduled for Night Of Champions 2014, but Reigns had to pull out because of the hernia that sidelined him for the remainder of that year. Officially, the match technically happened because of Rollins pulling the “count out the obviously absent opponent and announce me as the winner” gambit.
It only feels like they’ve done this heaps because of all the times they ran it on TV in 2014/2015.

I mean, sure… Why not? It just places emphasis on how depleted the main event picture of the Smackdown (and entire WWE roster is).
Plus, Rollins never got his earned one on one match for the WWE Championship and they can play it off storyline wise as this was Adam Pearce’s way of repaying for that.
I still want to see Rollins and Owens continue being associated with each other as I think a great marquee matchup for “Wrestlemania” would be RK-Bro defending the Raw Tag Team Championships against Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens.

I’m all for it, no one else besides McIntyre is worthy of challenging Reigns right now. It just once again makes the brand split dumb.

Since supposedly the plan was for Seth to beat Big E, kind of wonder if they might just flip whatever the existing plan was and have Reigns chase Lesnar for Mania. Can't imagine the WWE title match plan for Mania was Lashley vs. Rollins.

Save us Seth you crazy SOB.
It’s very telling that he just, laughed for like 15 seconds and yet it was the most entertaining thing on SD.

I'm thinking Roman loses the title in screwy fashion i.e. Brock interference, but wins the Rumble and challenges Lesnar at Mania.

Great to see the Brand Split means something. I’m giving it a pass because it’s giving us a crazy good match for the rumble. There are times to nitpick and this ain’t one of em.

Hope nothing happens to anything on the Rumble card cause it's pretty stacked so far

Yeah this might be the best Rumble in a while. It feels sorta closer to a Summerslam than a Rumble.

That said, the fact that the men’s champion is defending against a RAW guy and the women’s champion is going into the Rumble itself, doesn’t speak highly of there being a lot of main event-level depth on SmackDown. Oh, gee, who could’ve seen that coming?

I’m wondering if we get Reigns vs Lesnar vs whoever wins the Runble to unify the titles and same with Charlotte winning the rumble and Charlotte and Becky at mania to unify the womens titles.
