Has anyone gotten around to checking this show out? It's the 10-episode ESPN+ docuseries about Tom Brady, with each episode dedicated to one of Brady's Super Bowl runs. The eighth episode just premiered earlier this week (Super Bowl LII vs. Philadelphia) and I'm intrigued to see what Patriots fans and non-Patriots fans alike seem to think about it.
Honestly, I've found it to be a major disappointment. I've learned nothing new (outside of the apparently significant role that fringe receiver Doug Gabriel played in recruiting Randy Moss to the Patriots in 2007), and it feels less like "The Last Dance" and more like an infomercial for the TB12 Method and director Gothram Chopra's Religion of Sports. For example, in the most recent episode, Brady - and guests Alex Guerrero and Rob Gronkowski - delve into how the 2017 Patriots season was incredibly challenging and difficult, yet they never explain WHY the season was difficult. They just say cryptic things about how tough of a season it was and how little fun they had and how glad they were that it was over, but, despite this hour-long pulpit wherein they have free rein to say whatever they want, they don't say why they didn't have fun or why they were glad the season was over or why they didn't have fun.
There are two episodes left (Super Bowl LII and Super Bowl LV) and while I was hoping to get some detailed explanation from Brady as to what led to his separation from the Patriots, at this point after having watched eight episodes, I'm sure it'll just be some bland statement like, "It was just time for us to go our separate ways."
Anyone else watching? If so, what are your thoughts?
