I can't really explain this feeling. But it feels like nothing matters or nothing is worth getting invested in anymore.
I've been watching WWE my entire life. For as long as I can remember. I never thought the company was perfect, Infact more often than not I've been angry at some of their booking decisions (especially during the Super Cena era) but thats another topic.
Ever since the pandemic, its felt like nothing we are watching MATTERS anymore.
That guy who just got a big win over Randy Orton? Not worth getting invested in. Cause he could be fired by the end of the month.
Ever since they've released all those wrestlers from 2021-now, I've felt... Empty towards the company. I think when I really deep it, I'm really affected about NXT and how HHH's vision that everyone seemed to get behind seems to be completely erased from history now.
NXT used to be cannon. The Royal Rumble winner choose to challenge for the NXT title for christs sake. Then a few months later, we are told to pretend that never happened.
It's just... Ugh. I want to love this company again. But each week that passes, I can feel it slipping away from me. Ever since Vince brought back Pritchard and Laurainitis and hired Nick Khan to fire who he pleases, I just can't get invested anymore. Their primary objective now seems to be to save as much money as possible on contracts and the stuff we, the fans are watching comes second to that. Our enjoyment and the quality of the product is secondary. Isn't that crazy?
It's Wrestlemania season. Usually I'm excited. This year? Not even a little bit.
The only thing that could probably save the company for me right now is if Vince sold up. Cause this vision he has isn't working for me anymore. All these "Athletes" and Bodybuilders he wants to hire again? Miss me with it. I'm all for more gimmicks, don't get me wrong. But these guys will just be boring muscleheads in trunks instead of workrate indy guys in trunks. That's not an upgrade.

Lemme tell you about my WWE watch history.
1987 - Born 1993-1995 - Start watching, can't tell you exactly when 2006 - Stop watching because I got a job and I start chillin with the homies around the city, talking with the ladies, you know the deal 2011 - Start watching again due to Punk and the Pipebomb 2015-2016 - Start to feel a sort of disconnect Today - Not phased by most because I'm so disconnected with the product
See, like a lot of others I wasn't completely upset with them over the Bryan push because for as much as Bryan was pushed down it felt like they were at least doing something with him. He kept being in major storylines no matter how bad it got. For me, I figured it was only a matter of time so I was ok with it. It just felt like something would happen as bad as it got.
But when the Reigns Coronation Push was going on from latter 2014-2016? That's when the disconnect starts with me. Once that happened it felt like things didn't truly matter. It didn't matter if you didn't want him, it didn't matter who was winning matches, it didn't matter how other popular faces such as Ambrose were portrayed. All that mattered was Roman Reigns because he impacted the entire division. Ambrose kept getting pieced up because he was the friend of Roman Reigns. Seth Rollins never reached the heights he could have reached because he was associated with Roman Reigns. Guys like Rusev had their titles taken away because hey Romey Romey failed a drug test and somebody gotta pay for it. When these things start happening you just think "alright so I know this ain't gonna matter because it doesn't really help Roman out" and it happened for a good while until NXT started to be flames.
NXT was the saving grace for a great while. Trips and his team did the damn thing.
Then Neville's generation hit the main roster and well, you know the rest. They never broke through because Vince undermined everything NXT did. For a few superstars it was passable but when it happens to all of them from the ones who never got a title to the ones who made strides in their era like a Rhea Ripley? Nah, it's just a major trend.
Now it's to a point where I'm like "eh, ok", I just don't care as much as before. As long as Vince and his goons are in charge that's how it'll be with me. If we get something dope, cool. If we get something lame then hey, it's lame because we've seen this for a great while.
I just don't care anymore and honestly, it is what it is. I'm gucci mane lol.
Now, I will say that for how much NXT 2.0 has changed I'm actually liking it. Melo & Trick, Bron, Tony D, Waller, I'm digging it. I'm just not sure what'll happen once they make it to the main roster. Like, Melo is Shawn Michael's protege, I heard SRS call him this generation's Shawn Michaels. A guy like that would be set in another company. The fact I gotta worry if they'll destroy him here? That's just horible. It shouldn't be that way.

Anyone who's been watching for years and isn't feeling disconnected at this point deserves a medal. Or at least a cheque from WWE.
Personally I've been feeling disconnected now for about as long as I was a big WWE fan (2001-2011).

Like... I know it's more nuanced than this for many; but if a promotion puts on a dreadful TV product, actively strips away the parts of it I liked, and engages in off-screen business practices I don't feel comfortable supporting. Then yeah.

At this point, it's better to watch WWE for silly/cool moments and the matches. There's no incentive to following anything for Storylines given they'll literally release a guy who was on Raw the night before.

Ever since LU spoiled me and ruined every other wrestling show for me. Same. I can't see point of their garbage TV where the storylines are attocious. Not to mention that the company is morally bankrupt led by a man with zero integrity who not only "allegedly" helped one of his workers get away with literal murder years ago, but these days takes blood money from an evil government who butchered a US resident and makes propoganda shows promoting how wonderful they are.

WWE killed off my wrestling fandom briefly in 2018. Thank God New Japan cast Raise on it a few months later. Outside of catching a few things online here and there, I haven't watched a full WWE show since December 2020 (wanted to see the Brodie Lee tributes from the likes of Bryan, Cesaro, and Big E, among others) and that was the first time I watched a full WWE show since the Raw after that year's Wrestlemania.
WWE's programming is too corporate and soulless for me anymore, despite liking a lot of the talent still signed with the company. Well, the ones that haven't gotten fired yet. Though if anything, my wrestling fandom is actually healthier and happier than it was when I was still watching WWE.

It’s just boring for the most part. I’m not angry or bitter, just bored. Like I agree with who gets pushed and consistent tv time and who doesn’t. I just want fun and entertaining stories back. Hasn’t been there consistently since Cena became a part timer

It’s weird when Raw or Smackdown starts k feel a little excited to watch but 10 minutes in it’s mostly just background noise while I go on my phone.

The ratings certainly have shown a growing disconnect over the years too...

Have for awhile. Guess it started really when they fired Heath, Zack, Aiden, Drake (though they did bring him back for awhile, I guess) all on the same day. It's just snowballed from there though, and the multiple firing sprees over the last six months+ haven't helped. They also wrecked NXT, and pretty much killed 205 Live. Then Punk moved to AEW and my interest has swung more that way.
Like, the only thing I'm really invested in in WWE anymore is Seth, Ciampa, and Heyman.

It breaks my heart to feel that way.
My timeline of Fandom lines up perfectly with vince Jr's wwf. I watched hulks rock n wrestling as a kid, was a kid during the early wrestlemanias, in college 97 to 2001 in the attitude era, spent early adulthood watching ruthless aggression ppvs at bw3 or hooters with my friends and so forth...
Now the rampant firings of people I was invested in... Bray wyatt, Braun, black, kross, Lee, etc. And so many others. It used to be when they had mass releases it was jobbers or people who had no real impact on the product. The Saudi Arabia shows really irk me. All for the almighty dollar. I still haven't forgiven some of the moral corruption and surprising calls by Vince. How he has handled Owen's death, pillmans death, etc. Along with no respect for long time hires like regal, JR, etc through the years. The company has become a monster with an old out of touch son of a b running things aground.
And it makes you saddest when you realize how much of your life it was such a crucial part of. It was a main source of joy for so long. And even when I'm older and maybe not key demographic I should be able to enjoy it and feel proud of the company and where it has come. Not such anymore and that's sad.

Nothing will ever matter again. This is WWE as it will always be. It will never get better.
Abandon it. I did years ago.

My all-time favourite wrestler is still there and seems pretty heavily featured and that's still not enough to get me watching again. I would love to love WWE again but it was becoming too much like hard work, being disappointed more than satisfied.

O yeah really badly disconnected right now. Everything feels boring or doesn’t matter. Day 1 had pretty decent matches but the booking is crap so why should I care. The weekly shows have become unwatchable to the point I’ve stopped watching Raw & Smackdown now.
So many annoying tropes they keep using that I’ve just had enough with. So much talent being held back by poor booking and struggling to get invested in talent that could be fired at any minute.

Too much playing it safe and booking the same feuds and matches have made it hard for me to get too invested in the main roster at the moment. Business wise I guess it makes sense to stick with the "proven draws" or whatever, but I don't watch as a businessman.

80s WWF and 90s will always be absolute magic to me. Modern WWE has been utterly dead to me for years, from the commentary to the theme music to the promos, everything's either contrived or just plain shite and knowing how the show is put together and by who. The only enjoyable thing about it for years was coming on here and getting some cathartic release out of reading other people complain about it. With AEW now I feel the opposite, sure it's not perfect but I'm happy to just sit back and enjoy it week after week and seeing top talent (including commentary) express themselves freely on a major TV show without any of WWE/Vince's bizarre hang-ups. I rarely even bother with the AEW board because unlike WWE I'm not interested in reading people complain about stuff, I'm not asking for much from my wrestling show.

Love it that Bliss and Liv are both gonna be featured tomorrow @ RAW, outside of that, I've pretty much zero interest right now at product.
