Fan = 0, Mark Curtis = 1. It happened more than once, though. Because fans are dumb and would never expect a referee to be a trained pro wrestler and a state wrestling champion.

I do not remember which match it was other than that it was Attitude Era WWF, but Tim White was refereeing and Jim Cornette tried to hit him. Instead of falling down like he got shot like a normal ref, White untucked his referee shirt and raised fists Irish style on Cornette who fell over backwards trying to get away while the commentors talked up White's Irish fighting spirit. First last and only time I remember Tim White being anything other than a generic ref (we don't talk about the awful suicide angle). Unforgiven 1998. The Rock n Roll Express vs The New Midnight Express (shudder).

Is it cheating to mention anything refs you were supposed to pay attention to (Fonzie, Danny Davis...) did?

Earl Hebner took the best ref bump I've ever seen in the Shawn Michaels/Davey Boy Smith match at Beware of Dog in 1996. Was totally unexpected he got totally trucked.

Invisible Man vs. Invisible Stan, a match carried entirely by the ref & crowd reactions. Bryce Remsburg was absolutely one of the best performers on the indies for years, and dude never wrestled any matches.

This is amazing. Why the f*** did this happen? This is actually one of my favorite PWG matches. The Young Bucks were in a slight "feud" with Knox. They treated him terribly and would superkick him "on accident" and sometimes on purpose. He had been kicked earlier in the match and he finally had enough.

Let's talk about some of the best moments from the regular referees. Even the all time greats can be underappreciated. What are some memorable moments you have from referees? Here to me is the GOAT ref moment - the late great Randy Anderson being in disbelief that Hollywoood Hogan submitted to the Torture Rack. It really helped make that Luger title win so special. The look on Randy’s face and his motions say it all. It’s like he’s saying: “Wow! Lex actually won the big one. He didn’t choke. He beat NWO’s Hogan for crying out loud.”

I know, I disregarded the part in the OP about regular referees but these were the first two that popped into my sick mind
