Can you imagine women getting over with the help of a bit of blood? Keep in mind that the blood was completely by accident. WWE never tried to make money off of that in any way, you know. This great image, fallen entirely into their laps, could’ve been all over shirts and all over fans within weeks, but they didn’t want it because they are actually completely serious about not doing blood, except when they aren’t. All that said, I don’t want this to go down a road of women wrestlers feeling like they NEED to bleed to legitimise themselves in the eyes of fans. It’s enough of an uphill battle as it is without adding another layer to it. Not saying that they can’t bleed at all, just that they shouldn’t be forced to if they don’t want to. On the other hand, WWE did invoke this image of a women's wrestler drawing blood right as we headed into the pandemic.

Accusing another company of mutilation right before running a show in Saudi Arabia might not be the big insult they think it is.

I demand some "Vince fears The Bunny" signs at next week's Dynamite.

LMAO bro I can’t even get mad: That’s smart for them to do from a PR/Optics POV. It’s full of shit but 🤷 smart haha

This was much more entertaining the first time WWE tried to do this shit before things like the internet. Now, any schmuck can easily see how full of shit they are.

This dude's over here talking about Gory Self Mutilation, meanwhile not even a year ago they had an entire storyline centered around dudes trying to LITERALLY rip each others eyes out, lol
That women's tag did everything I needed to do, it got the wrestling world talking and took up rent space in Vince's head. Once again I lol at the people who tried to say Vince doesn't even pay attention to AEW at all, don't know who you were trying to kid lol.

“AEW presents it’s first all women’s event. Gory self-mutiliation. Where every match will be extreme!! This is the show the competition does not want you to see.”

I will say tho I rly hope AEW doesn't try to run with Gory Self Mutilation as like a shirt tagline or something, cause I think that could end up having very real and very silly longterm ramifications for them.

No, agreed. Not acknowledging is the best option but if you’re going to acknowledge “the competition”, this is the way to do it: By basically dismissing them as not the competition because “the products are so different”. PS “Gory Self-Mutilation” would be a terrible match name but a wonderful name for a zany hardcore wrestler.

That shit's funny as hell. Yeah it's a lie, yeah it's bullshit and it'll probably be more positive towards AEW than negative but the fact they had the gall, the nerve, the audacity to say that compared to a standard corporate response is hilarious to me lol. Dudes could have said "their product is different" and left it at that but nah, they decided to be all petty and take a slap to the competition lol. That goes double for the fact that they've promoted wild stuff like that in the past too but in this case it doesn't apply.
It's like when Drake had an interview a decade ago and tried to take a shot at The Throne for making that collab album when he and Wayne were cooking one up. Man knew they did it better than they could have so he went petty mode on em.
But yeah, it's funny to me but so damn stupid. I gotta admire the nerve though, they just said "f*** it" lol. Yall just giving them more promo but hey, if you feel you gotta throw a shot then do what you wanna lol.

The WWEs lack of self-awareness would be funny if it wasn’t so sad
Also I had no idea about the letter that Vince sent to Ted. So it’s not a recent thing anyway

I think they can run with the meaning behind it but that exact quote is a horrible thing to promote, definitely. AEW can leverage this into showing themselves as truly being an alternative to WWE and giving their women equal standing with the men* without using that exact phrase. *Before anyone jumps on me, I know that in many more important ways (like TV time) AEW absolutely does not give the women equal standing, but when it comes to letting angles escalate to blood feuds and the women cut loose, they do.

Just use “Very Different Business” if you want to do a thing and throw shade at the same time.

Quotes like this are a prime example of why WWE are no longer relevant.

Won't someone please think of the children?! Y'know, I don't know what's funnier to me; the idea of Vince (or whatever stooge is watching AEW for him) being so mortified by someone bleeding on television that he felt compelled to put out a statement denouncing it, WWE thinking their over-sanitized product to often bored-looking crowds is what people really want, or that violence in 2022 is somehow abhorrent. Like, people still loves them some blood and violence; that's not changing anytime soon, lol.

Quotes like this are a prime example of why WWE are no longer relevant. Relevant probably isn’t the right word when the implication is that a promotion that still has a smaller overall audience would somehow be MORE relevant. Ignorant, out of touch, bad faith… All those work.

I mean....The bunny's blood was nothing compared to Cena's during Edge first cash in.....and that was well past the attitude era.
