How did he keep a rubber band hanging on his cheek? He’s way before my time but I’ve always wondered.

Never understood the rubber band thing, or most of Albano's shtick. He struck me as the kind of guy who believed that all of that stuff was just the height of comedy. Crowds seemed to really hate him as a heel. I wonder now how much of that was the equivalent of X-Pac heat.

I was watching the tag match with him and Muraco vs. Snuka & Skaaland from the 12/26/83 MSG show on the network and he doesn't sell any offense except with walking around with his hands out looking silly.

Lou not selling always frustrated me.
My favorite story about Lou was from Larry Zbyszko, where Lou cut his face up with razors and then poured cologne all over his face to show the boys how tough he was.

I pretty much loved everything Lou did. He always seemed to manage the guys I liked the most (Samoans/Headshrinkers, Valiant Brothers, Hillbilly) and even when not in WWF he would normally be involved with some promotion which I followed. As a chubby youngster I thought Lou was the greatest especially with the Hawaiian shirts. As an adult I grew a beard and tried growing it to Lou's length but it stops growing and I also wore Hawaiian shirts to work and school for like a year straight. It was awesome seeing him come back healthier looking in 1994 but I was sad it didn't last long. It could have been age or a downtime in WWF but it just didn't seem like a good fit. Seeing him come out in a colorful track suit wasn't the same as old Lou.
I do think Vince McMahon was right on the 2006 Managers DVD, sometimes Lou would go a bit overboard. I think he was a guy Vince liked as a character and as a person and he would have liked to keep him on forever like Blassie but Lou was probably a bit too crazy to stay around forever. I do know he was a hard drinker for a long time which probably hurt his ability to do business during the times.
As for the original question, I remember being maybe 10 years old wondering the same thing, how he had the rubber bands on and even taping one to my skin but scotch tape won't stick on skin so it fell off.

I remember watching a match, I can't remember who was involved, where Lou was at ringside.
He slowly won me over because instead of jumping on the apron, he slowly walked up the steps, slowly walked to the middle of the apron, and finally started bitching at the ref. The ref chastised him, and... he slowly walked back to the steps, slowly walked down them, and slowly walked back to his corner.
He ended up doing this several times in the match and it got more entertaining each time.
