And it wasn't just stop using it in a match, it was EDITED out of previous matches.
What was the deal here? Was it because he took the Pedigree as his new finisher?

I think, and please correct me, was because a child died because another did a curbstomp to them? Or at least seriously injured?
Like, I'm not sure it was specifically that or the implication that it might happen but I remember there being an incident that lead to it being banned for a bit.

If i'm remembering right it was right after Seth won the title at mania and he was doing the media rounds. They were showing highlights of him stomping people and management (possibly Vince) deemed it too inappropriate for someone representing the company.
Editing it out of matches was stupid. They would either freeze frame the shot for a few seconds or cut to the crowd. Looked so dumb.

I remember something about WWE getting a short-lived show on the CW that was geared toward kids and there being an edict about not showing anything that affected the head or neck that stemmed from it.

Lots of dudes were filing concussion lawsuits around that time and I vaguely remember one of them mentioned the curbstomp as a present day example of how WWE don't give a f*** about concussions

I recall the reason being it was too easy for kids to imitate with a decent chance for injury. Not saying that’s true, but that’s the reasoning I recall.

I remember the story saying Vince one day saw The Stomp and deemed it too easily copied by children.
Those years stunk. Never in recent history has a finisher made the man more that The Stomp and Rollins.

The curb stomp is like the DDT. I always thought the DDT looked like absolute death when I was a kid, and years later, it was Bruce Prichard of all people who said it was a super easy, super safe bump to take. As he put it "You just pancake." The curb stomp is literally the exact same. I get how if kids were trying to emulate it you really could hurt someone, but Taker was still doing the Tombstone around that time, soooo

I always felt that Seth came out of Mania 31 with a lot of momentum and them randomly taking away his excellenct finisher hurt him badly

As someone mentioned in an earlier post, there was an instance when a young child did it to one of his friends and it resulted in a fatality.
Also, coming out of the Shield dissolving they started to establish Rollins as Triple H’s protege and after he won the WWE Championship following “Wrestlemania XXXI” he started going by the nickname “The Architect” and using the Pedigree.

I was like 8, but even at that age I saw how Taker did it, verus how WWF sold it being done.

Vince thought it was "too violent"
The same man that just allowed a woman to hit another woman with a brick tonight.
