Maybe the guy needs to rest a little more from the treatment. Have the man work part time in the booth and full time helping backstage, I felt bad from hearing him forcing himself to speak up

Tbh, that really is a rough job for a guy his age, and adding in the health problems lately definitely doesn't help. On one hand I'd like to congratulate, and appreciate his presence and accomplishments to the sport.. and on the other hand tell him that it's ok to go home.

The 3 man booth with Taz instead of JR was great. JR is a legend but it’s clear his time is up, and when you factor the health issues, he needs to either be a special attraction announcer or replaced.

Nobody wants to to be the asshole to tell the universally beloved legend to stop doing his job, but someone has to convince him that he needs to stop putting his work before his health, for his own sake.

He looked to be totally fine when I saw him in Newark. I'm sure some weeks are better than others. Hopefully he knows he can take a week off if he needs to.

I am of two minds on it. He probably could have stood to be gone longer, especially since cancer treatments can be hell on your voice, but I also imagine that maybe the idea is A. he was stir crazy and wanted back, and B. that he'd catch up to where he was by doing it.
Still, it definitely doesn't make it any easier to listen to him. I know he wants to do this as long as he possibly can, maybe thinking of guys like Heenan, Gordon Solie, etc, who lost their ability to physically do it. I also know retirement doesn't interest him with Jan Ross gone.

I thought his voice sounded pretty weak in the clips I saw. Not in an "this motherf***er old and frail" way but in a "this dude has a sore throat" way. idk though i didn't watch the full show

I noticed it towards the end of the show. His voice sounded tired or sore.

I feel like I read in an interview or on social yesterday that he was calling out specifically that he was worn out and in pain still. If I were TK, I might consider trying to convince JR to do like one week on/one week off or something or that he only travels to specific shows. I get that they want to respect his wishes, but I also feel like he shouldn't push himself beyond his limits.

Yeah, I kinda noticed it last night, too. I felt bad for him. I know he loves to do commentary, but he needs to get some rest and recharge.

I've been thinking lately that it might be pretty bad ass to bring JR out for things like, major televised main events, super cards, and PPV's as a special attraction. It would lend itself to his aura of being a major player.

I think the best role for JR right now would be as a backstage interviewer. He doesn't have to be there every week, and when he does he doesn't have to be on his game for the entire broadcast. It's way less workload for him and he can still use his gravitas and his history to elevate whoever he's talking to.

I expect having work to focus on does help but needs to be less draining. I don't know why they don't use it more frequently, the Bucks Vs Hangman/Omega one was probably the best verbal storytelling segment they've ever done. Just don't do the ridiculous ominous background music Deeb's interview had.
