More interested in Wardlow vs. MJF than Punk vs. MJF.
Don’t get me wrong, the promo work between both MJF and CM Punk has been phenomenal, and I completely understand the slow burn to a match between them.
However, I’m looking forward to and far more interested in Wardlow facing off with MJF. In fact, I can easily see the latter being the one to hand CM Punk his first loss with Wardlow squashing MJF shortly thereafter in a match.
Also, I can easily see Wardlow winning the face of revolution Ladder Match, and dethrone either Rhodes or Guevara (whomever comes out of Beach Blast) as TNT Champion, and MJF demanding for him to hand over the title as the catalyst of Wardlow finally having enough.

It feels like Punk-MJF has really lost steam as an issue. How many more times can Punk almost get his hands on MJF only for him to run away? At some point we need to do something to really re-heat this, and maybe something beyond just MJF getting interview time.

You remember how in Dragonball Z Abridged, Vegeta set a time to murder Nappa and couldn't wait for it? This reminds me of that. Wardlow looks like a guy who's picked a day and time where he's going to destroy MJF and he's just waiting for it to come.

Also, unless you count Wardlow practically having Punk dead to rights last week, MJF hasn't really had the upper hand on Punk at all during this feud. I know heels being so dominant is frowned upon by some, but it wouldn't hurt for MJF to get the upper hand every now and then.

I mean Punk was interested in working with/elevating the profile of younger talent from the first day he walked in the door….
This is just a branch reality of the sacred timeline to achieve that goal 🤷🏼♂️

In the digital promo this week hyping Dynamite, Punk said eventually he'll get his match with MJF, and that it will be in a place MJF will dread. My first thought was the match happening in Chicago, which is apparently in two weeks.

I'm still confused about the MJF/Allin feud. Why did that one end so abruptly?

I'm still confused about the MJF/Allin feud. Why did that one end so abruptly? AEW trends that most times after a PPV is over, they reset everything. I get wanting the payoff for PPVs but sometimes there needs to be more, its a problem AEW does have because some feuds needs to go longer than a couple months or to the next PPV. Darby getting cheated and goes off as oh well is one of those, Darby should be seeking revenge. MJF and Punk should had a match by now. I agree it lost seem and the focus is going more to Warlow than Punk.

The story turning into, "MJF runs in terror any time Punk gets near him," has made me lose nearly all interest in it. It doesn't really make any sense and it just feels like it's defanged things.

The MJF/Punk feud has built to Wardlow beginning to turn, and the climax of the feud probably leads into that, while Darby losing is a planted seed for the future for when potentially, MJF has the world title. Things don't really END in AEW, they just continue to other beats... things usually come back around

The Punk-MJF has definitely lost some steam. It doesn't that we're going through the "You have to face so and so to even have a chance to get to me" angle.
We seen that during the MJF- Jericho feud. Imo that part of the feud is lazy booking.

They're in a difficult spot, trying to keep the feud going without physical contact. They may be best just giving a MJF a cheaty-fluke win over Punk just to add more animosity.

I feel like they've been using this to, yeah, escalate Wardlow and MJF, and having Punk get powerbombed a shitload of times, it made sense, but I half expected MJF to cost Wardlow by losing his patience and just decking Punk with the ring.
I do think that it feels like they're stalling. MJF's feuds usually have people having to jump through hoops to get to him, but it feels like Punk's not even particularly doing that, which is weird.

MJF vs Wardlow is gonna be so good. And I love that they're drawing attention to it and setting it up even in the middle of a theoretically way bigger feud.

Easy fix.
1- MJF loses Wardlow next week. 2- MJF vs Punk in Chicago. 3- MJF wins in a quick fluke.
There. You’ve extended it to the PPV. MJF can always circle back to Wardlow later.

And is a great thing. They're killing two birds with one stone in this feud.

I love the fact they're doing it that way. Punk vs. MJF can stand any time they have a promo battle, and the coward chickenshit thing is good, but it also seems pretty visibly like it's leading to Max trying to run away, Wardlow grabbing him by the collar, and throwing him back to Punk for a Go2Sleep or something of the sort. And if it does? That's a big moment to cement Wardlow's face turn. That's quality. Punk putting one of his higher profile potential feuds into a light where he's also helping another guy rise up is exactly the sort of thing I'd expect out of the run Punk is having.

If Wardlow versus MJF wasnt interesting, people would complain about CM Punk stealing newer wrestler's spotlight. Him sharing the spotlight and elevating two cornerstones of the company is a positive.

The entire feud is a call back to Batista/Triple H

Wardlow has spent his entire run mainly standing in the background of promos looking swole. I don’t really feel like he has any actual character to speak of, and anything he can do they have other guys that can do it better. I really have negative interest in him wrestling MJF, because either Max wins and who cares or Wardlow does and that heat is given to a talent I have no interest in
