The entire feud is a call back to Batista/Triple H It really is on MJF (and The Wahrdawg himself) to get him over as the feud escalates and when the match finally happens, similarly to HHH.

It has some superficial similarities to Batista/HHH but isn't really the same. For one thing, Wardlow is a direct employee of MJF rather than a partner. And so far there hasn't been any instances of Wardlow really outwitting or showing that he may be a step ahead of MJF--Wardlow screws up or is perceived to have screwed up, MJF berates him, wash, rinse, repeat.

The biggest similarity I see is the pop Wardlow will get when he eventually tips MJF in half
