Whilst AEW have done the right thing by immediately removing him from the match, why hire him in the first place? His theories were well-known and weren’t hidden away from the days before he was known.

It says a lot about wrestling that he was allowed to carry on like nothing had happened after that shoot.

But a lot of people did not know just HOW bad some of his comments were.

Val's called me a dipshit on Twitter for calling out his more outlandish takes. I think all that really needs to be said about Val Venis is that he's been a guest on Info Wars. Granted not the only one in wrestling, top of my head Kane and Roddy Piper have been on there. The old adage holds up because I would not want to meet him personally. I'm fascinated at how people allow themselves to be sucked into this stuff. I almost got sucked into it myself but I pulled the plug when the conspiracies I was studying proved to be highly disconnected from the reality I know.

You have to remember eyebrows were certainly raised when he signed with WWE for he CWC as well. Apparently Regal really wanted him there and persuaded HHH to bring him in.

I was mainly joking about the too much weed thing.
Also I didn't hear his actual things now and assumed he was the more paranoid style conspiracy not some of the shit he said yikes.

They are retreating over PR.

That’s the thing, most, including me, seemed aware that there was something out there with Kendrick, but that most of it was just him being a kooky weirdo. People will generally let you be like that as long as you’re not hurting other people, cramming it down people’s throats and/or spreading hate.
And then it turns out there is stuff out there (that was always there but just got missed? How?) where he is DEFINITELY spreading hate, and well, he’s gonna deal with the consequences of that now.

I was wondering if Kendrick would ever catch what he had coming for being a dumbf***. It seemed like he got a free pass for the longest time.

Can you imagine if Tony Khan had allowed the match to go on anyway and THEN released Kendrick? We'd probably get Mox stomping him into an early grave.

They are retreating over PR. I mean WWE has him employed to their company for like almost seven years? Nothing was really brought up. A lot of people close to Kendrick and who were long time friends didn't even seem to know the full extent of what he had said on record. Like the only reason this came out at all is some people dug through TV Tropes, so it seemed to fly under the radar well enough in terms of just how bad it was, until the last like 12 hours, where a huge ground swell happened. The dude probably should have just kept his job in WWE, and this stuff would still not be talked about, he decided he wanted more and well... if you say real dumb shit you're gonna get bit when you try that.

If it was from 2011 and he issues a heartfelt apology and actually changed his views, then I hope he gets another chance one day

Even David Bixenspan, whose job at this point is digging into the ugly grime of the industry and reporting on it, didn't realize the comments were that bad. Anyone assuming everyone just knew about it is at best not aware of how widespread these comments actually were.
