I really don't get Danhausen. I think AEW have done a poor job introducing him to people who don't know who he is (it's possible that's just me). As far as I can tell, he's some kind of vampire Eugene?

As far as I can tell, he's some kind of vampire Eugene? In short basically, he's an evil being whose goal is to make as much money as possible and be famous. When he started, he was only evil, but he realized that he can make more money by being nice and tricking people with his niceness. Thus, he is very nice, very evil. Nothing "Eugene" about him.

The one flaw in Danhausen’s AEW career is that he’s yet another “Well, go to YouTube” guy for fans who have never seen him. Well, maybe have a five minute sitdown interview with him on one of the shows. Hell, just air the “Who is Danhausen?” video he did in ROH. But give the people who haven’t seen him something.
That said, the stuff with Hook is tremendous. Just the little touch of Danhausen’s evil side getting impatient and provoking Hook instead of Hook just blasting him was great. And Hook throwing the chips down more in confusion than rejection, wonderful.

He gets big pops from the crowds so something is obviously working.. Instead of annoying me it cracks me up at this point. “No one knows who this guy is because we don’t watch every bit of YouTube content! Give us a reason to care” *shows up, barely does anything more than speak, gets MASSIVE pop* “See! No one knows who he is!”

The people that buy tickets to the shows know who he is, great. There's some casuals that could use a three minute backstory video on him that AEW puts on. There's no other form of entertainment that this would be okay with. Not asking to get beat over the head with content, but they haven't even really done the bare minimum like ROH did, and it should be on the company to give me that information, not on me to search it out.

Dude is one of their best current top merchandise seller, probably only losing to CM Punk and BCC in terms of sheer number and he constantly gets top pops. I dont know what more one would want from their audience. The character doesnt need a deep introduction,he is a funny weirdo from day 1.People will be invested without explaining their whole backstory and just showing how he acts. I say that as someone that knew almso tnothing about Danhausen beforehand besides the very nice, very evil, catchphrase. He debuted, cursed Adam Cole and things went from there

Most of the people going to see Dr Strange this weekend are probably huge Marvel fans that have seen every Marvel movie, right? But Marvel still put out tweets saying “Hey before you go to Mulitverse of Madness, be sure to check out these 4 movies/shows in particular”. A tiny bit of effort to make sure everyone, not just their established hardcore fanbase, is on board.
People who don’t “get” Danhausen aren’t saying he’s not over or he’s a flop. But some are asking for a bare minimum of explanation from AEW and getting “Just figure it out yourself” back. It’s just sort of a snide response where literally a minute or two of explanation would suffice.

AEW live crowds tend to be the hardest of hardcore wrestling fans, and there’s only 6000-10000 most weeks versus 800,000-1,000,000 fans watching on TV. People paying money to see AEW are more then likely the same people who know NJPW, GCW, ROH etc. Can’t assume that the entire audience watching at home knows what’s going on.

I didn't even know the backstory of very nice very evil, or the reason he wanted moneys.Sometimrs a character is just enjoyable by itself

Maybe some people get too hang up on what he was before instead of focusing on what AEW is selling him as now And if there is more to it,great ,maybe I will learn more in time now that he is starting to wrestle

Like I don't watch enough to pay close attention to what commentary is saying about him, so if they're basically insinuating that he is just a dude with a painted face that thinks he has powers, that's a different character than if you watch his pre-AEW YouTube character stuff.

Whoa now so marvel telling someone to watch 8+ hours of movies is good..telling someone to invest 20 minutes on YouTube is not....ok.

They are leaving purposely ambiguous if he has powers or not ,some commentator like Chris acts as if it's real ,other imply he thinks he has powers. yeh 'm saying your idea if what the character should be because people saw him before AEW and what he currently is are two completely different things. They don't need a video package to explain because they are showing week by week what he is They are rolling and building his character and showing instead of telling I think a big issue for the people that aren't casual but aren't in the knows of the character is that they know he is supposed to be a big deal and already had a fanbase, casuals don't have that pre notion of " ok I know he is a big deal, why is he a big deal? I don't know and I feel like I should already know" this is not AEW bringing a big Japanese star for a one off but not explaining anytjing or even Excalibur acting as if Butcher & Blade are a big surprise.

Instead of annoying me it cracks me up at this point. “No one knows who this guy is because we don’t watch every bit of YouTube content! Give us a reason to care” *shows up, barely does anything more than speak, gets MASSIVE pop* “See! No one knows who he is!” Live crowds aren’t always the best barometer, especially with AEW. Unless Danhausen is actively tanking the show or actively having trending campaigns about who he is or why people don't understand him, this isn't an issue, and underplaying the crowd pops he gets in literally every city they go to at this particular point is ridiculous. Not every person who goes to AEW is the "Hardest of Hardcore fan", there are men, women, children, of all ages in those crowds and they're all reacting the same to Danhausen, and the reactions consistently tell anyone watching why he is important or why they might wanna do one single google on him, and acting like that's an insult to them just confuses me. It's been weeks of the exact same loud reaction, if people aren't searching him out at this point just at least out of sheer curiosity in the 2022 age of social media and modern technology, I don't know what to say tbh. There are people on Twitter who literally have stated that the crowds at AEW events when they talk to people there are most excited to see Danhausen over almost any other AEW roster member. Hookhausen is one of the hottest angles in front of any crowd at this time. At this point I'm over if he gets a "video package" or not. Because commentary and others have talked about him enough to any casuals watching to let you know he's a demon who has an affinity for trying to curse people to either help his friends or get his own way, and that is always how Danhausen has been and nothing has changed from his AEW presentation, though I am curious if he tries to use teeth in his Nese match, as I am curious how he looks in ring back from his injury. I don't think it's inherently wrong to want AEW to explain things better, but I also don't think it's wrong for people to simply say "He's all over the internet as are interviews with him, even on AEW's own Youtube, that would help you out a lot as well", because... well if you wanna know who Danhausen is, there are a lot of videos big and small to help convey to you, who Danhausen is, and that's always been a part of his plan, his social media presence is huge for this reason
