So I assume Brian Cage regrets signing with AEW, considering how things have went for him. Do you think anyone else regrets it, and wishes they either signed elsewhere or just went freelance?
Ok. So regret wasn't the best choice of words obviously. So I guess I mean, do you think anyone is disappointed in their run, like they expected more from their run then they got.

Eh, I doubt he regrets it. It’s not like he’s being held hostage a la Mustafa Ali, and he had some good matches and moments over the course of his run and definitely has increased his standing in the wrestling world so he’ll command more money back on the indies.

He shouldn't regret signing to a promotion that gave him the biggest mainstream TV exposure he has literally ever had, including multiple main events, a world title match, and what was going to be a future action figure...
This really goes for most, I'm sure their booking fees were able to spike appearing broadcast mainstream TV like most of them have outside of a select few DARK talents, that's a perk of AEW, you don't sit in catering, you can freelance if they arent using you, exactly like Cage has too

Cage shouldn't regret signing with AEW. I doubt had he gone to WWE or stayed in impact he would've headlined a PPV with Sting and challenged for world titles. He's a far bigger name now than he was before AEW

Maybe regret isn't the right word. But I don't think it turned out as well as in sure he hoped.

WWE probably wouldn't touch him anyway. So he'd be crazy to have regrets considering I don't see where else he'd a better deal, with equivalent exposure.

Maybe regret isn't the right word. But I don't think it turned out as well as in sure he hoped. I don't know if in Cage's mind he should have won the world title or what, he could have easily won a TNT title I think, but otherwise he was a huge focus on AEW when he was there, he won the ladder match, he fought Mox and Darby in big main event matches, was constantly on TV, he beat Hangman Adam Page in a huge Dynamite match and has even still since been one of the only people to pin him in the past year and change, he was in a big PPV match and Sting's return to wrestling. Outside of getting a non-FTW belt, Cage was used really well, and his weaknesses were covered up well, cause... he cannot cut promos at all lol. Genuinely don't think WWE would have done half of what AEW tried to do for the guy.

I feel like any regret between Cage and AEW is very very mutual at this point.
"Lotta buyer's remorse with Brian Cage" is one of the most f***ed up and funny things a commentator has said in the last year.

The problem with AEW’s rapid expansion is there a signings that may have initially seemed like a big deal at the time that in hindsight weren’t.
I think Brian Cage falls under that umbrella, so while I don’t think he regrets signing with the company… Maybe Tony Khan regrets signing him.

Disappointed is likely a better word. Best thing he can take away is being able to put that former aew star logo by his name on indy posters

I would assume him trying to become the forefront of the XPW revival and wearing that "Steroids kill COVID" shirt would confirm that regret on AEW's end... that's not even factoring the arguments on Twitter which include "I PROBABLY wouldn't murder my whole family"

It's hard to say who might have regretted their decision because a lot of these guys probably wouldn't have thrived/lasted long in WWE if they went there instead given their shift in philosophy. Some of these talents might have been booked at a higher level elsewhere (like Impact or ROH), but who knows if the pay would've been as good. Someone who might fall under that bucket is a guy like Matt Sydal who is great and has awesome matches in AEW but will really never be pushed too much. In Impact or ROH, he'd be more of a featured guy but would be he be better off? Hard to say. And he signed in a time when everyone else aside from AEW/WWE were struggling to put on content.

Yeah, he wore a “tren kills COVID” shirt. More on point, I think Colten and Austin Gunn are regretting signing with AEW now that a certain very nice, very evil fast food employee has shown up.

I honestly doubt Cage regrets signing. I'm sure he has some regrets on how some of it's gone, but his stock went way up and he likely made significantly more than he made in Impact or LU, especially the latter. He peaked early, sure, but that doesn't mean it's been a wholly bad run or anything.

He lost it to Callihan...who lost it to Tessa. Though, apparently, if he had re-signed, he was gonna turn heel & challenge Tessa.

That Moxley feud did more for him than anything he did in impact. Plus he was very heavily protected in defeat. Sure he could go to impact and win the title, he can be a main event guy when you have Moose, Callihan and Rich Swann as competition
