Mickie James as the Knockouts champion has more hype than every single person in the men's Rumble. They bleat on about HISTORIC moments but this was the only genuine one that they delivered in a long time.

Looking at the match graphic I thought the men’s rumble was filled with a bunch of tag teams. Didn’t even look good on paper.

Which is like, OK, that's par for the course with the tag teams, but the fact is that a lot of these teams include a lot of guys that they've used as singles main eventers on and off over the years, guys like Orton, Mysterio, Sheamus, Nakamura, hell even Corbin. Have all those guys actually been devalued in a "You sleep with dogs long enough, eventually you get fleas" way?

The women's Rumble had a lot more surprise entrants which is my favorite part of the Rumble. It would have been even better if the WWE didn't announce some of them beforehand (and some websites went out of their way to try to spoiler others). The men's had too many tag teams in it. There should have been a multi team qualifying match on the preshow like they did one year. I would have liked a couple NXT guys like Ciampa or Dunne and a few legend surprises.

AND ANOTHER THING... They put in a bunch of tag teams, but one of them weren't The Usos, one of your champions? I know they're overexposed, but they're solid enough workers. They didn't get a look in.

I'm surprised Usos vs. Viking Raiders wasn't at least a Kickoff match.

The guys that didn’t need to be in the Rumble were Madcap, Street Profits, Holland, Roode, Gable (Otis could be used for fun spots). Also Dom was a bit of a waste of a spot since he didn’t interact with Rey. Replace them with Cesaro, Balor, Edge, Miz and a few legends and the Rumble would have been much less dead in the middle.

I'm cool with the Profits being in and I'm on the fence about both memberes of Alpha Academy. Completely agree about Madcap, Holland, and the Dirty Dawgs though. No way they should've been in over Cesaro, Finn, and a couple of the others that were missing.

Considering all of the people you listed but Corbin are themselves former Royal Rumble winners and no one would have bet money on a single one of them winning, I think you might have answered your own question.

It sounds like Finn was overseas, so he couldn't be in it.
