Nick Khan released Vince's own son. He can do anything. Are Nick Khan and Hunter close? That's the deciding factor I guess. Khan supposedly showed up to Royal Rumble with Shane so my guess his relationship with HHH is not that close. One does wonder if Shane buddying up with Khan was a glimpse into Shane basically making sure he secures his spot once Vince steps down and maybe Khan takes over.

I get he's not popular on this board, but he's one of the most over performer's in wrestling. Any company would want to sign him.

By eliminating Brock Lesnar. Most likely it would have been Drew and Brock are fighting near the ropes and Shane gets under them and throws them both out at the same time.

Okay, Youtube kept showing this to me on my feed, but I actually thought it's some kayfabe stuff and he will be back with the ROH midcard to invade Raw...

Remember last year when he was calling Strowman stupid? The funny thing about that was: he had a point. Strowman was mad he wasn’t in that Elimination Chamber that was only open to former WWE Champions. He felt that as a former Universal Champion, he should get in. But, those weren’t the same titles. So, no, he shouldn’t. And, Strowman was the babyface. It took the dumb babyface trope to a literal level.

Remember last year when he was calling Strowman stupid? Or remember when he was feuding with The Miz, and he just kept beating him?

I want Shane to show up in the crowd at an AEW event but only be identified as Shane [no last name], the CEO of [insert the name of the Chinese company he worked for] and that's it. Never seen or acknowledged again.

Never seen or acknowledged again. AEW is more likely to bring in Virgil who will be called Shane from his WCW days. All night long, Tony teases SHANE is here. SHANE is backstage. SHANE will be out after this commercial break. Then we see Virgil.

It’s not even that he’s not popular, WWE didn’t want to keep him around because he was screwing up plans backstage to make himself better and almost screwed up a relationship with a major star that also isn’t a bad worker to boot and is willing to wrestle for them. No company should want someone like that regardless of popularity.

AEW should hire both for like one or two nights tops. Virgil comes in first and is introduced as 'Shane.' Then the following weeks Shane McMahon debuts, but is introduced as 'Gregory,' since they've already got a Shane on the roster, and don't want to confuse anyone.

If his plan was to make himself look good in the match then he didn’t even really accomplish that. He got the same 30-60 second flurry of offense most new entrants get then hung around a couple minutes before being killed by Brock.
This is the guy who took out all of Legacy by himself and thought he should go 30 minutes inside hell in a cell with Undertaker and be competitive. In terms of “make Shane look strong” his Rumble efforts were tame by his standards.

This whole "Shane McMahon f***ed up the entire Royal Rumble by himself" might be Vince most successfull scapegoat
Like did he make it worse?Probably. But to say single handed is some high level deflection

But to say single handed is some high level deflection Yeah like this was the news going into the show: Not to say Shane didn't have a hand in the badness or that he didn't piss a bunch of people off, but this does additionally feel like part of WWE's pointless overt efforts to control dirt sheet narratives.

Bryan Alvarez basically said “Shane might have been a pain to deal with backstage, and rubbed some people through wrong way. But he’s being scapegoated hard here.”
That Rumble was in trouble long before the actual match and that part ain’t on Shane.
