This whole "Shane McMahon f***ed up the entire Royal Rumble by himself" might be Vince most successfull scapegoat Like did he make it worse?Probably. But to say single handed is some high level deflection I haven't seen many say he did it single handedly. Here not so many, but like the twitter post above saying Shane f***ed up the rumble and left. There is a surprising amount of people simply blaming Shane Or acting like Shane had full open control of all those spots.

Seems strange to think he's about the same age as Vince was in the attitude era

Bryan Alvarez basically said “Shane might have been a pain to deal with backstage, and rubbed some people through wrong way. But he’s being scapegoated hard here.” That Rumble was in trouble long before the actual match and that part ain’t on Shane. Oh, I can believe he got scapegoated but as others have also said, this isn’t the first time he’s been involved with booking that coincidently makes him look like a badass and his opponent look like a goober. Oh, Hey, Sami Zayn, Miz, Kevin Owens and Braun Strowman!

I get he's not popular on this board, but he's one of the most over performer's in wrestling. Any company would want to sign him. It’s not even that he’s not popular, WWE didn’t want to keep him around because he was screwing up plans backstage to make himself better and almost screwed up a relationship with a major star that also isn’t a bad worker to boot and is willing to wrestle for them. No company should want someone like that regardless of popularity. I was talking about Shane as a performer. It's unlikely that AEW would bring him in and allow him to book matches. For any company below AEW (Impact, GCW etc.) then his star power and notoriety would far outweigh him being a dick backstage.

No, but he also wasn’t booking matches in WWE, just flexing himself to make an unstable situation more unstable. There are free agents right now who do not have that history. And also can actually hold their shots back. And the last thing Impact needs is another egomaniac on top who thinks more about his own standing than others. They already had to try and overcome Jarrett, Hogan and whoever else waddled in for a payday.

Information from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio:
The thing that calls this into question is Vince vetoing something because NOW he needed someone to sell a beating.

I had my doubts that the first PPV WWE Singles match for Austin Theory was going to be Shane. Asking him to carry Shane to a watchable match was asking a hell of a lot, and glad he's not going to be thrown into the deep end.
No question that Seth Rollins deserves better than Shane. Dude has knocked it out of the park and is killing it in this Story with Reigns, which should continue until 'mania.

Why is everyone so surprised? WWE always does WCW legends dirty.

I posted it in the other thread so I'll copy it here: It's reading more like "Shane was sent home" than "YERRRRRRRRRR FIREEEEDDD!"

I agree that it's easy to take the piss out of Shane here, but the constant rewrites and booking follys of this Rumble fall on Vince and company, who also had every reason and power to say no to any stupid demands, and changes, yet just kept changing shit and making it worse anyway As I said, HHH's absence is becoming more and more noticeable.

Shane vs Seth Rollins sounds like the freshest of dogshit, so I'm REALLY glad that's not f***ing happening anymore. It's crazy after how well the Roman match ending set up them running it back at Mania, Vince literally had no intentions of following up on it in a meaningful way, just a shit finish leading to more shit.

Remember last year when he was calling Strowman stupid? The funny thing about that was: he had a point. Strowman was mad he wasn’t in that Elimination Chamber that was only open to former WWE Champions. He felt that as a former Universal Champion, he should get in. But, those weren’t the same titles. So, no, he shouldn’t. And, Strowman was the babyface. It took the dumb babyface trope to a literal level. Braun was the same guy who also who blindly agreed to put his IC Title on the line in a handicap match because he couldn't be bothered to read the contract.

A 10 minute match at Mania between Theory vs. Shane with Theory coming out on top would have been a nice rub, particularly if it ended up being Shane's last match. I don't think Shane should be in any big programs like with Seth at this point as a wrestler considering his age and shape. I'm curious if Shane was officially let go or if he is technically still under contract and they bring him back in say 6 months after this cools down.

Next, Steph books a really bad Punjabi Prison and gets sent home too Somehow she makes a feud Omos vs. Commander Azeez which culminates in this match.

Remember last year when he was calling Strowman stupid? No lie, I spent a good chunk of time yesterday debating whether that really happened Oh, it happened, and Shane kept sliming him. Makes me wonder now if he wanted to go over at WrestleMania (which, in fairness, was something I had wanted if only because I thought it would be funny) and they had to remind him that, no, we need Strowman to have some semblance of dignity.
