Some promos:
Even though it was at a late night time slot, its still kind of wild that it aired on free tv. It would be like Rick and Morty airing in local syndication.

Was this on PAX TV? NO way would this be allowed to air on the future ION Network. I think even if it was squeaky clean (HAHAHA), it wouldn’t be allowed because supposedly the network didn’t allow syndicated programming according to Wikipedia. But, I swear I remember Cosby airing on ION Network affiliate WPXN in syndication. I could be wrong though,

I remember watching the syndicated version of South Park. It was edited quite a bit both for language and content compared to the original Comedy Central airings but in most cases I don't think it detracted from the humor.

I remember for scenes that were too extreme for syndication, they'd cut to a black screen with white text explaining what was going on. It was still incredibly funny the more gross the scene was, like the intro-retrogestion episode where people were shoving food up their butts to crap out their mouths.

The Local Syndication version of South Park wasn't as worthless as the Syndicated Tales from the Crypt was, syndie TFTC cut out the good stuff so the syndie version can comply with FCC broadcast standards of decency at the time

This reminds me of the MadTV "Sopranos on PAX TV" parody:

That's what happened with the European and Aussie versions of Stick of Truth as well, funnily enough.

Growing up as a dirt poor teen without cable, I remember. It was my pretty much my first exposure to South Park. My little sister loved the show. She was 8 at the time BTW, lol.

Yes, I do. I remember it airing at around 1 or 2 in the morning on my local CW affiliate. I don't recall watching it myself, but I think I might have recorded it a few times. It's crazy to think that it was on local channels.

I could be wrong though, By "didn't allow syndicated programming", I read that more as shows that JUST aired in syndication like Supermarket Sweep, Xena, etc. Not shows that once aired on another channel and reached syndication the reruns.

But, I swear I remember Cosby airing on ION Network affiliate WPXN in syndication. I could be wrong though, I’m pretty sure I recall the late 90s Cosby show (not The Cosby Show) airing in reruns on the network, around the time of the PAX/ION changeover. I didn’t have a local OTA affiliate, but my cable company carried the network. In answer to the original question, yes, I remember syndicated South Park. I was never a huge SP fan, even on Comedy Central. But I did show a little bit of the syndicated cut to my mom. She got a kick out of the Osama Bin Laden episode.

Actually, for a time in the mid-00s, Comedy Central was putting some of their shows into the syndication market. I seem to remember a syndicated version of Reno 911, and I think even Insomniac got some airings on local stations.
