I hope for their sake they do. I would hate to book something only for an ancient 76 year old boss to throw it out the window every single time and force me to book something on short notice.

Their big angles, absolutely yes.
Not so much with everything else though, I think.

Some things run short, some stuff goes for months and is meticulously planned
Usually its for the best, sometimes things can run too long or short, but they definitely dont have that issue no

The main event programs (i.e., the world title) are booked months in advance.
Everything else... TK plays fast and loose. If it works, he'll milk it, if it doesn't, he drops it like a hot potato.

The major stuff yeah, and the payoffs for them have been pretty uniformly great IMO.
You can pretty much tell when something isn't planned out, like TNT champs or Codyverse stuff seemingly has no overarching anything and is just a chaotic mishmash of segments designed to get the crowd to hate them.

WWE does some of their best shit in when backed into a corner & having to think on their feet. I think I even remember reading Gedo’s booking journal had several different, multiple pathways. I think because of the nature of wrestling you should do both and know when to hold ‘em and whey to react impulsively.

big stuff like the titles yes. The big issue for AEW is they sometimes drag some stuff way too long so things lose momentum

I mean, Hangman/Omega was like 2 years of build up. So yeah, big stuff Tony plays the long game. Other stuff he likes to test to see what people like and don't like. Yet, somehow we still get Brandi on the mic.....so....I dunno.

They do for the big storylines, and I love them for it. I love that they take time, and the payoffs are almost always worth it.

Tony Khan went to the Gedo School of Booking for their major storylines.
(So, absolutely yes).

Longterm booking is fine, but if someone gets that over then you have to manage to change course and adapt. I shit on wwe but on very rare occasions they do change course, like Batista was intended to win the title at WM30 but the yes movement happened, Kofi sure as hell wasn't winning the title at WM in 2019 before he got over, Becky same thing at the same WM, that spot was intended for Charlotte and Charlotte only. That's one thing that worries me about TK, if a male or female talent gets that over that fans are begging for the title to go on them, does he listen to the fans?

They do in the sense that there's stuff that intentionally takes quite a while to play out. They don't in the sense that they tend to have a single signpost scheduled for "in a few months" that they just kind of get to when they get to, rather than having a step-by-step plan to get there that plays out over that time.

Yes, although there should be better planning for the women's division because it's lacking some built-up faces when both the TBS and Women's World Champions are heels.
Thunder Rosa's the only face I can see winning a title anytime soon at the moment.
Is it probably due to Athena and other women close to being signed?

It'll be a GOAT long term booking moment when Orange finally uses the brass knuckles he pocketed last year (or the year before I forget).

Yes in the bigger picture, less so in the midcard, usually, plus sometimes stuff clearly gets disrupted for injury, pandemic, etc, sometimes.

In my opinion, AEW’s biggest problem is booking the length of feuds accordingly.
There’s several instances where they drag out feuds that didn’t need to go longer than six weeks for three months, and there’s just as many instances where they wrap a fued up in four weeks with one match that could have went multiple matches over several months.

Their world title scene is Gedo like…
That sometimes goes towards mid card feuds too and that becomes ridiculously overbearing (see OC vs HFO)….
It does sometimes causes pent up frustration with some while waiting for a feud to get to the point…(see the inevitable Thunder Rosa taking the title feud most are waiting for)

While the lower card stuff is definitely more week to week, I think there is still a very clear long term plan for their top prospects. Everything about the rise of Jungle Boy/Sammy/Darby felt intentional. And now we're seeing it with a guy like Dante. They wanted us to be patient with these younger guys and it paid off with the first crop and now they have my trust for the next group.
