I stopped watching Neighbors in November 1997. I got a Christmas job in Woolworths that lasted til February so I couldn't watch it and couldn't be bothered getting back into it. Is Harold and Madge still in it?

Is Harold and Madge still in it? They killed off Madge sometime in the 2000s, I think Harold stuck around a bit longer, but I gave up on it around 2007.

Haven’t watched an episode in years but if this is it for the show, then it’s truly the end of an era. It was essential viewing every weeknight at 5.35pm (or at 1.40pm when I wasn’t at School) for me when I was younger.

A bit of Googling says he left in 2008, with brief guest appearances in 2011 and 2015.

If it's been dropped by Channel 5 then it's as good as done, it was the only thing keeping Neighbours going.

They should bring Kylie and Jason back for the final episode.

FFS. I love neighbours, it needs to be a constant. No matter what happens in life I should be able to rely on Karl Kennedy being there. Toadie blowing the street up isn't that farfetched, they do like a disaster or killer taking out multiple people,it's basically a really slow slasher movie. Like it says it has decent viewing figures for daytime TV because at least it's not poverty porn, rich people buying houses or bloody Steph's packed lunch. They should bring Kylie and Jason back for the final episode. I read somewhere that they had recently introduced their on-screen daughter as a resident. Jason's real life daughter is currently part of the cast but is playing Paul's grandaughter. Bizarrely the role of their on-screen daughter was wasted on an influencer that was only around briefly. You'd think they'd make her an important character they'd build around for years but nope.

The only possible ending Neighbours can have is that Bouncer’s dream was reality, everything else was all a dream he had.

I've never seen it, but its famous enough that as an American who doesn't watch soap operas or UK tv I still kinda know what it is.

A lot of American soaps don't really take off in the UK (unless one thinks back to the days of imports like Dallas on BBC ONE etc), I think the last U.S soap to really 'blow up' over here was Sunset Beach (which also aired on Channel 5)

I look forward to all-new Traffic Cops and Can't Pay? We'll Take It Away in its place.
It sounds ridiculous because, you know, it's Neighbours and it's incredibly naff and tacky, but I would be pretty sad to see it end. My mum used to watch it when I was a kid, and I did as a teenager when I was supposed to be doing schoolwork and still do on occasion, it's kind of a British cultural institution and a key part of my growing up. This drizzly little island can be a pretty miserable place a lot of the time, so a lot of people looked forward to the half hour of escapism, into a world where the sun always shines and life seems easy, that Neighbours provided at various points.
And yes, the key thing is it's daytime television that's not about f***ing antiques or boomers buying expensive houses.

Didn't Harold die and then came back as a character with amensia? I also remember that actor who played him Ian Smith, was also a writer for the show and one of the other actors, think Craig McLaughlin had pissed him off so he wrote a scene where he got to pour a jug of water over his head just to get back at him.
He was also in the Aussie horror flick Body Melt, where he said the word f***.

I remember my mum would watch this daily once upon a time and I was too scared to watch because they did a storyline where a killer spider was on the loose?
I liked it for being more of an optimistic feeling soap though, which was a contrast to the misery porn we have in England.
