Starting a new job that is entirely remote, I haven't had a boss in like 7 years as I've done freelance work for myself..remote sounds good but we'll see how this rolls I guess.

What kinda stuff are you doing? Todays my first day of training but basically it's a company that works for credit unions so at this point it looks like I basically take calls from people to deal with their issues...

I hope you get one of those nice call jobs where people WANT to call you rather than the jobs where people HAVE to call you. The latter is hell because you get all the crazies .

Yea I hear you, I felt like a fully remote job where they sent me all the equipment was a good deal, it's nice to wake up and just walk to the other room as opposed to making like a 30 minute drive or something.

My company has remote workers from home, though the computers available are limited (typically it’s for the older reps who have limited mobility around the office). If I were you I’d expect to get whatever software they require, it’s not too complicated from what I’ve seen. Just remember you’ll run into a lot of pissed off customers over the phone and you just gotta stay cool and help them through their issues, just keep thinking of whatever base salary you’re getting if someone is being a jerk.

Been working from home for almost 2 years now and it is so much better than going to an office. I recommend it to anyone who has the option.

I gotta be honest, as much as I enjoyed working remotely from home the last two years, it completely destroyed my attention span for work. When it first started, I'd wake up, usually get all my work done in two hours, make a new recipe for lunch, get some exercise bike time in, etc. Now I just wake up and futz around for hours getting nothing done, usually not even getting out of bed, constantly ordering take-out, even if the take-out is completely inappropriate for the time. I found a Chinese food place that will deliver roast pork fried rice at 9:30AM. It's the worst roast pork fried rice I've ever had in my life, and the delivery and "service" charges are ridiculous, but that's what I get for ordering it at 9:30AM. Then in the afternoon I'm rushing around trying to get my work done before I'm supposed to call off, so nobody notices I spent half the day doing nothing, and still I can't concentrate and for every 10 minutes of work done I wind up wasting 20 minutes watching a pointless YouTube video.

I worked from home about 70 percent of the time pre-COVID. You are definitely on the right track of having a separate room for your office. I also found something that really helps is to get some sort of habit or routine in the morning before you start your day to sort of snap you into work mode. During the darkest days of COVID when I was leaving my house about once or twice a week, I had to adopt something since I was getting a really poor separation of work and life at that time. It doesn't have to be something major, and people are different, but for me, I made my bed every morning and it just got me in the mindset for some reason.
