Whoever ends up buying the Gumby NFT I feel sorry for them having no one to sell it to as they're literally the only person on the planet who has intersecting interests in Gumby and NFTs.

Fox getting in bed with something scammy and horrendous for the environment? I am shocked, shocked!

And here's where I need the Disney/Fox flow chart to know who really has Gumby.
Not that Gumby doesn't need the money and work...he's been down since one of his classmates died in the kiln today, mother!

I genuinely still can’t wrap my head around it.
Fox, seeing that it could make more money from news, sports and advertising revenue for its TV channel then its film and television back catalogue, sells the entire thing to Disney for $71bn and one of the first big thing it uses that money for (besides TV deals and the like) is…buying Gumby.
Like…how does that end up happening?

Doesn't this mean that Disney bought Gumby...

Doesn't this mean that Disney bought Gumby... No, this is the re-established Fox Entertaiment buying Gumby. If it were Disney, 21st Century Productions (the renamed 21st Century Fox) would have announced it. But also Disney don’t really make it a habit of buying properties, The Muppets still being a weird exception to that.

Like…how does that end up happening? Because they need to continue as a going concern, the 'news' thing they do is going to implode soon unless they can get an Australia style (Newscorp written) link tax law in the US because their audience are dying of old age and people can lie on the internet for free so the money isn't there. Without the link tax, they need mass appeal properties to subsidise the 'news' side of things, and to act as a figleaf to cover up the evil.

I think that one in particular is going to be a lesson in... "something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it" everything else is speculative bullshit.

Yeah, NFTs in general still fit the overall point... but Gumby NFTs just feel like the perfect encapsulation of things nobody wants... but we're going to be told is worth a billion dollars. and at least in the Holofoil Youngblood thing you got a comic out of the deal... not necessarily a GOOD comic... but a comic that you could literally hold in your hands and was a tangible thing.
