"Check this out. When I was a kid, I fantasy booked how I would have done the show "Homeboys in Outer space". The show was ahead of it's time and it wasn't given a fair shot. So I was thinking, what if the show was set in the same universe as Alf, and Harry and The Hendersons? Seriously. It's about tying in the sitcoms that had Sci Fi elements together. Think about it. They run into a person who came from the same race of aliens that Mork from Mork an Mindy came from. They could have even used that show to go into different universes and visit planets that mirror popular and obscure tv shows too. But in a way that it's like a wink and a nod to the audience. I would say a wrestling meme leaving the wrestling community would count, and similar situations for other such community-specific memes (“One does not simply BECOME a mainstream meme” or however I’m butchering that LotR meme).
