arstechnica.com/gaming/2022/02/debt-stricken-intellivision-asks-for-more-funds-to-last-past-july/The system that supposed to complete with the XBOX Series S/X, PS5 and Switch, with the goal to bring wholesome family entertainment back to the living room during this nation time of need, Behind this is 600 years of combined experience by the Avengers of video games industry with Video Game Icon and Legend and Famous Cousin of Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Tommy Tallarico as their leader. Well apparently their on their 4th crowdfunding since their in 8 million dollar of debt and they need 10 million to survive the next 6 month with their cult like fandom turning on each other now. They barely have any game finish for the system with some of them having stolen assets from other games like Star Fox 64 and no working system beside a couple prototype that they been showing off at Amico Live Show last years. Im guessing no one learn anything from the Coleco Chameleon.

The extent of my knowledge comes from Pat and Ian, but it’s been fascinating

I met Tommy Talarico once. It was funny because me and my brother brought up Wild 9 and he seemed surprised anyone remembered what that was. That is the extent of my knowledge on him or this for the most part. But yeah, this appears to be unfolding as one of the bigger debacles in gaming in a while, and that's saying something.

Isn't Earthworm Jim supposed to be on this Did the playdate ever come out? The hand crank system So the playdate got delayed because some of the units had battery issues that need to be fix before they shipped them out. As for Earthworm Jim, that game probably never going to come out. They dont have the money to even started working on it and the new CEO admitted on a youtube stream that the Amico OS is so bad that games like TomJam and Earl won't even run on the system unless they find a way to fix the problems with the OS.

I remember Tommy seeming like kind of a dunce on G4 but not like a mega doofus, then all this stuff happened lol.

It's always a bit sad when people like Tommy Tallarico and Doug Tennapel turn out to be really shitty people IRL given they were a big part of my childhood, especially with the Genesis.

Amico has been my favorite slow motion disaster in gaming in recent memory. Star Citizen has become a fairly predictable scam and the reports about Activision Blizzard are just depressing in how many current toxic industry trends they reveal. Amico though is astounding because it never bottoms out; every new story that emerges about it is something ridiculous about the console, Tallarico himself, or the weird defenders of both online. The attempts at defending the console and how Amico's online presence has increasingly shrunk to a heavily moderated Facebook page because the company can't control the narrative is fascinating just in seeing a cult of personality fall by the wayside in real time.
Everyone will be better off when Intellivision closes its doors, but I'd by lying if I said I won't miss this whole train wreck when it's finally done.

It's all very pro wrestling, isn't it? Big name announces a revolutionary product that will serve an underserved portion of the fanbase! There's lots of pyro, ballyhoo and buzz for a while as they seem genuine and have a plan, unlike the guys who did it last time, or the time before that.. They seem to be getting ducks in a row, then the cracks start showing And questions get asked they have no answers to... Then away it goes, all the while less hyped projects pop up and carve out a stable niche they promised to serve.
Companies have popped up and made successful products in the time they've been at this, the Evercade folks released two systems, the C64 folks released two versions (Mini and full sized) and moved on to the Amiga (I think it's the same guys at least.), the Spectrum Next was made and released, a zillion hobbyist systems like the MISTer, Commander X-16 , the various 8/16 bit hardware clones are all either coming or out... And so on. Even fake Atari's Linux box saw release! It can be done, with comptent management, but Tommy was in way over his head.
It's a shame as there is a market for a mid range system, one that doesn't offer cutting edge graphics but can do indie, retro andso on games well, one for the casual gamer who doesn't care about raytracing or digital eyelash rendering. Gaming would be better with less emphasis on graphics and more on fun.

Its worth noting that EWJ 4 never went any farther than the former team getting together one time for a meeting and discussing hypothetical ideas. The entire notion that it was in development was another of the very very long list of lies Tallarico was peddling. The guy spent three plus years peddling bulls*** plans for the console that they never could have done because Intellivision never had enough money to do all that much.
The CU Podcast with Pat & Ian has a playlist on YouTube that goes into detail about all the nonsense Tommy and company have been up to, but trust me on this: even to those that have seen the Hbomberguy video, you cannot understand just how much of a deceptive idiot Tallarico's actually been. The man bragged about getting winning a baseball fantasy camp award in his company's investment pitch documents and that's one of the least stupid things in it.

It's really sad that one of the people responsible for the excellent Video Games Live concert series turned out to be such a scumbag.

I struggle to think of a worst least-trustworthy pair to connect in the video game industry than Doug TenNapel and Tommy Tallarico.
