Honestly, I don't think too many people cheapen a Hall of Fame so much as people not being inducted who should have been. WWE dragging their heels on Vader, maybe to not have a bunch of wrestlers lobby to get in, was a mistake. Comparing it to a "real" one, the baseball hall of fame's treatment of Shoeless Joe Jackson does more to invalidate them than even any of the steroid shit. Yeah, Hall of Fame is whatever you make of it Essentially supposed to be "elite of the elite" the top 1 percent of the 1 percent but that's not always the case. Wrestling makes its own rules so I see no problem with who gets in. When you start comparing it to other real sports like you said then it even strengthens WWE case more so. To add to Shoeless Joe, we now have Bonds and Clemens off the HOF as well and Pete Rose tho we all can figure they waiting for him to die to put him in

You can count points earned or titles won in other sports because it's a competition... Wrestling isn't. All of Wrestling's titles the wins and losses and placement on the card is literally all bullshit. Even if you go for the "this person made money" well... no one makes money in wrestling in a vacuum. The ONLY real metric for pro wrestling that really can be measured is memorability or like what they contributed backstage.

Eddie was the first one for me, I said that back then. But that was when the HOF still had a bit of legitimacy too it, I can’t say I care any more now it’s just a gimmick. But yes Eddie felt like the first “stunt” induction.
Then Sunny, Edge. Trish and Lita were all really young performers in quite old school classes.
By the time they got to Beth (who I felt was a bit of a knock to Chyna who passed the year previous) the legitimacy had pretty much crumbled

You can’t have a “legitimate” hall of fame for an illegitimate “sport”
