Unless there's just some TV deal that is too good to turn down, I say don't even worry about it.
I feel like the best idea for ROH is to look for a streaming deal (even if that means waiting to pull the trigger until AEW has theirs in place first) and do their absolute, tippy top best to make ROH the destination indie where guys want to go and really shine. Like it used to be. If they can do that, they might not gain as many TV views as NXT, but the true artists in the sport will want to work there.

I feel like blowing off the prospect of wrestling being on a streaming service feels weird because, like, that’s still a big deal. HBO Max is one of the fastest rising services outside of Disney+ and it’s only going to be expanding its audience in the next couple of years as Sky deals lapse and such. To have a product ready to go that people can watch, especially if ROH establishes itself as a top indie destination, would be nothing to sneeze at.
It’s why people who go “It’s just YouTube” for Dark/Elevation are so weird because it’s a new, easily accessible platform for people to watch wrestling on and an easy gateway for people to get into AEW if they don’t have cable or a Fite TV AEW Plus subscription. Whether it’s built as such feels like a completely separate point.

The Youtube shows still pull in about 200k in their release week, which for a show built primarily out of enhancement matches, is still nothing to sneeze at. Looks like that goes up in the 3-400 zone after a few weeks. That's still access and reach that isn't dying a death or anything. That's still more than NWA gets for episodes of its actual show.

With the recent news of how Colt Cabana is slated for ROH whenever it does find a home I do wonder who else is on that list. I assume from the champs Joe & Greshem will be frequent but unsure about Yuta/FTR/Martinez. I recall others (I think Matt Hardy) being interested in being an agent there.

Whether it’s built as such feels like a completely separate point. A lot of wrestling fans have a "legacy media" mindset because of the Monday Night Wars. I mean I personally don't watch the YouTube shows because that's a bit too much wrestling for me per week. But anyone with a smart TV or a streaming device can just as easily watch Dark on their TV as Dynamite on TBS.

Who I think should go to ROH: Angelico Bear Country Blackpool Combat Club Brian Cage Brock Anderson Christopher Daniels Colt Cabana (already is, it seems) FTR (at least for as long they hold the gold) Jay Lethal Jonathan Gresham Kaun Lee Johnson Lee Moriarty Matt Sydal Samoa Joe Satnam Singh Toa Liona Abadon AQA Leyla Hirsch Mercedes Martinez Serena Deeb Then supplement that group with the likes of Dalton Castle, Josh Woods, The Briscoes, Willow Nightingale, The Renegade Twins, Danielle Kamela and LuFisto. Plus, you have Arn, Tully, Regal and Dutt as managers and coaches. And whoever else TK wants to sign, really. This would just be my base roster.

There isn't a scenario where ROH is going to feel at the same level of Dynamite, so don't even worry about it and just focus on finding a good, steady home where it can build an audience and then do what you can to make it feel like its own distinct property instead of just Rampage 2.

I'm like HMark where I'd rather see ROH be a touring promotion than a TV promotion. I don't think they need to have a weekly show that the entire product is built around. Or run similar sized venues as AEW or WWE.

I mean, people forget that WCW Saturday Night was a mainstay until Thunder came along and…well, stole that. Like, hey, we can freely have the discussion about whether more can be done with Dark and Elevation (for the record, my opinion is yes and I’ve said as much) but the idea of people being on them or doing stuff with it shouldn’t be seen as massively bad because of the platform it’s on.

Or run similar sized venues as AEW or WWE. Yeah, at the very least I want it to keep feeling like a promotion that builds itself around the live experience. You still want a TV (or weekly streaming, I suppose) presence if you're going to be building to PPVs and whatnot, but I'd be perfectly happy if the weekly show was more like an old school wrestling show, where you'll get tastes of what the promotion has to offer and get some big matches now and then, but the clear message sent would be "buy a ticket!" or "get the PPV!". They were really getting that vibe back as a promotion before Sinclair crapped out, so I'd love to see it maintained.

That's why God invented DVRs and fast-forwarding. For he is a merciful being.

That's why God invented DVRs and fast-forwarding. For he is a merciful being. In fairness, ever since Satnam's debut, this feud hasn't gotten a ton of TV time, and if Joe's being written off to go film Twisted Metal, it's not really gonna continue in a huge fashion going forward for a bit either I'd expect, unless we get a Lethal/Satnam tag match somewhere.
