There was this one song called "Crash" by The Primitives. I first heard it on the Dumb & Dumber soundtrack, so I thought it was a '90s song. Turns out it first came out in 1988.

I rediscovered this song while hearing it at a grocery store a few years back. I thought "What I Am" by Edie Brickell came out in the mid 90s (1994/1995ish), given all of these female solo acts dominating the pop/rock scene (i.e. Alanis Morrisette, Sarah Mclachlan, Sheryl Crow, Jewel, etc.) at the time. But it came out in 1988, and it barely even sounds like anything from that decade.

I was a young child in the mid '90s and it was one of the first songs I can ever remember hearing on the radio, which is likely why I group it in with that era of music.
