I wasn't sure what we where getting when Sting signed with AEW. But every time he comes out he impresses me because this guy is not wrestling like a guy in his sixties. At times I'm like are we really sure that how old he is? Like, even for how his debut made me excited, I was expecting at the very least his TNA run but he’d be way more of a special attraction and we’d get the big Cody match and such but if you said to me “Sting’s going to be diving off a lot of shit and one of his core feuds was going to be against 2.0 and a guy you’re going to love when you see him called Daniel Garcia” I’d first wonder why the hell WWE would fire 2.0 in the first place and then call you a crazy person. Pretty much. I watch Sting and I look at other guys who 50 or older that wrestled. Like Flair in TNA was the same age Sting is now. I'm going this isn't matching up.

Just gonna leave this here... Someone needs to mash these both up and included a comparison shot of New Jack doing the same thing years ago.

We all thought Sting would mentor Darby. Turns out...

He's giving us some final memories, while putting over Darby, before riding off into the sunset for good. I'm planning to enjoy ever second of it. He was my first favorite wrestler with Randy Savage.
He's also shown himself to be an amazing mentor backstage, as well, by all accounts.

Sting has gone from my least favourite part of TNA years ago, to somehow way more interesting and impressive over a decade later. I never watched WCW so I just saw Sting as the slow old guy who was booked to hang with prime Joe, AJ etc. and when he debuted I expected him to beat Darby clean before going on to feud with Cody.
But somehow he has made a guy I already liked, Darby, more interesting. How a young goth skateboarder somehow looks cooler hanging out with a 60+yo I have no idea, but those two just work.
I think the difference is they don't feel like they have been booked to hang out, it feels like they are genuinely doing this stuff for fun. I'm not sure if that's the case, and if it isn't then it's very impressive, but I honestly think it is.
I also love the irony that usually old guys criticise the young wrestlers for being reckless, but with these two it's more like Darby is the bad influence as Sting suddenly seems like a daredevil who doesn't care if he kills himself out there lol.

Sting is the man. And he does not at all move like someone in his 60s.

I want to see Sting do a little more before he really hangs it up for good. Like a series of final matches culminating in one big finale in which he puts over a younger talent, probably a heel or tweener.

In fairness, Sting's last run before joining AEW ended with Seth Rollins being an oaf and nearly retiring him for good, so I can understand why there was concern over him taking bumps. He just turned out to have more left in the tank than we thought.

He just turned out to have more left in the tank than we thought. I feel like the Brian Cage powerbomb was his test to see if he could still bump and when that went well, he just kept going forward to find his limit, getting more ridiculous as time went on. Remember, his first non-cinematic bump was a suplex on the ramp. He no sold it but it was still insane to see it.
