Eddie's REALLY good at those 10-15 minute sprints and Jericho all of a sudden looks like a different person. It was REALLY good and probably the best way to start the show. What'd y'all think?

Eddie has that King's Road style down to perfection. Jericho looked the best he's been in ring since his world title reign.
Hell of an opener. Eddie is SO OVER man. They've got to pull the trigger on an Eddie world title win this year, they just have to. Hope that this was the catalyst for it.

Eddie Kingston has been my dude for over 12 years, I couldn't have been happier
His expression when Jericho tapped said everything. I'm so proud of him, and he WILL be world champion, I feel it in my bones

I watched the match again this morning. Excellent match. I think this is arguably the best match Jericho has had in his AEW run, either that or his first match with Omega. Looks like that heart attack has given him a new lease of life and given him the kick up the ass he needed because 1 year ago I was calling for his retirement

It was Jericho's best match since his match with Mox at Revolution 2020. I'm excited to see where Jericho goes next with his character

Every now and then Jericho reminds you of how good he was And, frankly, how good he can still be I hope he can continue to keep this shape and this clip. If laying off booze did this much, keep laying off it.

My ideal world title history goes something like: Page > Punk > Eddie > MJF. Neither Punk or Kingston need particularly long reigns.

It was a candidate for my match of the night. Jericho has really proven to me how much he cares about the company and not padding his ego. And Eddie is the everyman who loses but picks his ass up and keeps going.

Jericho fancies himself a provocateur, and because of that has done some things outside of wrestling that have deservedly harmed his reputation.
But, for me, if you're creating a wrestling Mt. Rushmore, Jericho is on there. And yes, I mean to say that puts him in the Top 4-5 most important and influential professional wrestlers ever. The dude is uniquely situated as having been at the forefront of innovating the cruiserweight style that arguably defined the late 90s, was the first ever "undisputed" champion, was a prominently featured WWE main eventer in at least 3 distinct "eras," had more than one great run in Japan, and was absolutely pivotal to the establishment and success of the American wrestling scene's first truly viable alternative to WWE in 20+ years.
He's an absolute master of reinvention. It's not surprising to me that he's turned things around, as he has been doing any time he gets stale for nearly 30 years. And I love that he's a 51-year-old veteran with such a stature in the business, but has always been willing to put guys over. He's invaluable to AEW, and I hope he sticks it out until the end of his career, personally.

Here's the thing with Chris Jericho for me: having read a couple of his books, the man clearly overrates himself and his overall cultural impact.
Having said that, even with all the accolades they gave him, I truly think WWE has always underrated exactly what they had with Chris Jericho. I honestly think he could have been "The Guy" during the early '00s, but he really never got that chance. Even when he was a world champion, face or heel, he was still usually presented as being lesser than a Stone Cold, John Cena or Triple H.

Eddie Kingston is at his best when he's able to wrestle a hybrid style of brawling and old-school King's Road. Jericho can give you that and then some because of his experience. Fantastic match.

The best none-ladder match I have ever seen from Jericho.
I truly hope Tony Khan is plotting a path for Kingston to become champion like he did Adam Page. I really like Page and thought he and Cole pulled off a miracle following so many fantastic matches and still delivering in the main event...but Eddie could be money. The feuds available to him are so versatile too, Danielson saying he's not a "wrestling", veterans like Jericho disrespecting him, The Elite talking down to him as he's below them, blood feuds with basically anyone, I mean you could see him and Moxley destroying each other in a deathmatch, then hanging out together the next dynamite comparing scars.
I hadn't even heard of him before AEW but this guy is a star that the fans have organically fallen in love with and he needs to be treated as a top tier talent on the level on Danielson, Moxley, Punk and the rest.
Kingston vs MJF in an extended feud over the title...money

Eddie needed a big win and he finally got it. Hopefully they keep going with it. They have something special with him. He’s so organically over that they need to take advantage of it.

Him in a feud with MJF is practically a license to print money. Have it where both had rough upbringings, but unlike MJF, he didn’t forget his roots or where he came from.

This was a great match, Eddie selling the eye and stumbling around at the end was just brilliant. I do wish it had ended in a pinfall after the two spinning backfists (just seemed like the crowd were ready to count along the win) but I'm nitpicking there.
Very impressed with the way Jericho has turned things around this year.

Very impressed with the way Jericho has turned things around this year. I saw a comparison of him around the time of "Lionsaultgate" and now and they almost look like two completely different goddamn people. It's crazy.
