Because no one has patience. According to this board, almost everyone deserves to be champ, and every old wrestler that wasn't champ deserved a run. I honestly think it's people who have grown up with WWE or have been conditioned by them on how a promotion works. The WWE has two brands where their talent is split in half and two world titles. They have a gimmick in MITB where someone can win a title in 30 seconds after running in and beating an exhausted/injured champion. What that has done is created a ton of world champions in a short amount of time, many of which would never sniff a world title in a promotion that is booked like AEW with their roster size (or WWF in the 80s/Attitude Era). So that logic has become engrained in a lot of wrestling fans' minds where if a talent is not a world champion the moment they get over, it's a failure or a mistake. AEW is booked very similarly to 80s WWF in terms of pacing of storylines and how they book their talent in a bloated roster. Guys are going to get slow builds. Feuds are going to take a while to climax. MJF will have his time.

I am actively opposed to MJF being champion yet.

There's a lot of potential champions on the roster that will never win the big one. It's feasible somebody massively over and important like OC won't even win any belt and that would be unthinkable in wwe. It'll be interesting how reactions to that play out, especially when guys win the aew title for a second time (personally I think Mox should). Of course a lot depends on booking. In WWE people often want the next big star to breathe new life into things and don't trust "let's see how this goes" after being burned multiple times. Aew has the goodwill of a new company and a track record to show it's mostly worth having faith but there no guarantee that'll continue.

Because people think that belt=more important. MJF is getting more regular screen time, more matches, more promos than the current world champion and top contender right now. That's a better indicator of importance to the show than what timeslot he's placed in or who he can beat in kayfabe, think about how much of AEW is already about MJF and then ask yourself if making him champion would change that?

I agree I would love to see him as champ, but yeah, there really isn’t any rush. The dudes like 25 years old. Unless he gets a career ending injury or decides to leave wrestling, he’s gonna be a World Champ at some point. Hell, he’s probably gonna be a World champ a whole of bunch of times by the time he reaches 40 and beyond.
I also have this feeling if he wins the belt now, he has potential to be really stale by the time he’s 30. Randy Orton won his first world title very young, and for the most part, he’s been stale for most of his career.

If they leave it too long, he will get a pop when he wins the title.

I feel like "the old dude" on here now because I keep having to point out to people that WWE booking of the past 20 years is not normal wrestling booking. I'm glad I'm not alone.

People are already want Wardlow to beat him for the world title and the MJF isn’t even champion yet.
The first four champs were perdictable. We don’t need five and six to be too.

I think there are a lot of fans that will have to come to terms with the fact that, for all the people that have the potential to be the world champion and be the top star in the company, be it right now or a few years down the line, and deserve to be because of their talent and their hard work, that a lot of them will never even get close to it. Their ceilings will be the TNT belt or the tag belts or being a fringe main event contender to build up the top stars. And it’s not gonna be because the owner is out of touch or racist or because they don’t like their body shape or their nationality or their accent or whatever, it’s just gonna be the cards falling where they may.
