....What could have possibly have been so important as to kick up a fuss about Regal going a little long?

....What could have possibly have been so important as to kick up a fuss about Regal going a little long? I don't know if people were especially mad at Regal or just miffed that their time got cut in general, which happens. This more sounds like Regal covered a base and apologized for running long to be professional about the situation, as anyone being upset is pure speculation on the OP's part. I'm sure there were plenty that didn't care, maybe in the end no one actually DID care, but Regal cared enough knowing he went over and the tempo of the show got thrown off, and he wanted to as he said, lead by example, and apologize for going over time.

Yeah, it sounds more like Regal was saying as a professional he should know to hit his time.

On thr Bryan and Vinny show they did mention there is some hilarious irony in that Pac/Yuta was booked cause kayabe Hangman and Dante didn't go along as expected but then in real life Regal when long making the stand by match pointless and the other matches have time cut

Thing is, his promo wasn't even "done well." He was clearly supposed to be setting up how Danielson and Moxley are his own two halves: the perfect technical wrestler and the perfect villain, and he's responsible for driving each of them further down those two paths. But he gets caught up talking about Bryan and repeats himself and loses track of the story a little. And you can see him realize when he gets to Moxley he's already gone long, and so he rushes through that part to hit the catchphrase.
None of it matters at all to the audience, of course, because Regal is enormously charismatic and a fantastic actor and so the emotion was sold perfectly. But I can see him having in his head, "Oh god, I'm rambling on live TV" so it'd be magnified for him, especially if it made people scramble backstage afterwards.
Other thing about that tweet is, it's not in the realm of kayfabe, but Regal's a goddamn superstar so it simultaneously pushes kayfabe. If his character is the experienced, professional mentor, apologizing for not setting a good example only serves to get his character across even more.

Moxley being somewhat neglected is definitely a happy accident that they can go back to if they want, down the road.

I enjoyed the promo and he's a great guy but yeah, ultimately it is a TV show and running over affects everything else.

It was a great speech regardless. I think Tony looked a little choked up. I read this as "Tony looked a little coked up" and I thought I wandered into that thread about Tony Kahn buying ROH
