This was a great promo but unfortunately it may have caused some ruckus backstage if he felt the need to address it. I love the wide open, never blink, chaos of AEW but it likely leads to situation like this. Imagine being the guy that was upset over a teary eyed Regal.

Yeah, as a viewer it was great but I can imagine it caused a bit of ruckus so it’s good for him to admit he did wrong and apologize.

Weird thing is the Wardlow promo seemed longer to me (both great promos) and the World title match went "short" they stated so just a bit of organized chaos as always with AEW.

Regal being so sincere about a minuscule issue makes me wonder how he’d have penned an apology for his dick slip back in the day.

I think if the show were so jam packed with stuff it would not have been nearly as noticeable.
But they had A LOT to get through here.

Joe Hennig would be a multiple time world champion right now if he had only done this after the Genesis of McGillicudy promo.

I think it was just because it was the same segment as the tag match so it was an extension of that segment rather than just an interview.

I'm glad he apologized, it didn't go long enough.

Admittedly there was a moment or two where I was like "well, he's taking his time with it," but he's William f***ing Regal, you let him do what he wants.
If they were *that* worried about time, don't throw Wheeler Yuta out there to get killed.

Eh it's natural emotions get the better of you first time, I'm sure he'll hit everything perfectly in future.
On the one hand it's a shame he had to rush the ending and didn't quite tie the strands together properly. On the other it gives the unintentional benefit of making Bryan the teachers pet and that could lead to many fun dynamics, especially if after a while Mox becomes his favourite child.

Yeah that turned out a bit awkward with 99% of the praise going to Bryan and Mox being the guy he found in the trash seemingly. It certainly plants a seed for the future.

To be fair, Mox DOES live in a dumpster.

As a fan, I ate up every second of it so I didn't mind or even notice. But I respect his professionalism for apologizing for going over his time.

I wonder if there was much of a ruckus at all.
I could actually see him finding out he went long (or realizing it after the fact) and writing the apology with no other drama involved.

Also, how is he able to still be William Regal?
I thought that was a WWE creation because Steve Austin was already there and you can’t have too many Steves.

He was overwhelmed with emotion, and yeah he probably ran over time... but it probably wasn't ever gonna happen again anyway. Again it was an emotional moment and Regal had a lot to say, and frankly, everyone ate it up, so it was all gravy. I said it in the main thread, that man could talk for an hour, I would not care one bit
It shows true class and professionalism however, to apologize for it no matter the circumstances. That I hope showed everyone in AEW how to take one on the chin and also hopefully showed Tony he signed a real winner to his roster and for backstage, because he really did.

I get why others would be a little passed about it, but I feel like someone of Regal's caliber should get a little leeway, given it was his first time ever speaking in AEW hot off of his debut.
