This is unfortunate news.
I want him to perform and be happy with what he is doing, however, I hope more than anything, he is mindful of his health and does not exacerbate his condition.
I wish him a long life of villiany❤

I do worry this could be similar to what happened with Eddie Guerrero in that, yeah, they got clean, but the damage may already be done. It’s well-documented that Regal had crazy drug problems on-and-off during his life, mostly in his WCW runs and his first WWF run, but also even as late as 2008, killing off his best and last shot at a main event run. There’s also the fact that the dude had a major heart problem at one point, which is why he was out for over a year in 2003/2004 getting that fixed up.
I hope it’s something that is manageable that allows him the best quality of life possible, and not something that will cause a noticeable decline in his faculties and put stress on his family.

It's the sad part of wrestling. You grow up just assuming that they're invincible because everything they go through during matches.
I know he's already had a HOF career but hopefully these next few years are incredible.

He's going to be on Jericho's podcast to talk more about it.

Wonder if that was on his mind when he started talking about how he thought he didn't have much longer during his promo.

I just hope he gets to enjoy as many years as he can, if he truly wants to keep going in wrestling I hope he can. The speech originally sounded like him just making jokes in his dry way but maybe putting 2 and 2 together now he could have gotten some bad news from the doctor. But let's him tell his story if he desires. And again, I hope he can live peacefully as long as possible and do what he loves. The younger wrestlers need a man like him in their lives.

He was very aware of his own mortality in his promo and did seem choked up, particularly with Schiavone, so I do hope for the best, but this is unfortunately not a surprise.

Don't forget he almost died from getting sick during the one tour of India... I think that's what ultimately cut his in ring career short too.

We’ll see what it is on the Jericho podcast, but I did think Danielson looked like he was trying not to cry during the promo on Wednesday. Also, Regal outright said he has a decade before his wife is pushing him around in a wheelchair to feel some sunlight.

I hope this isn't life-threatening like with Brodie Lee, and Regal can be able to live pain-free even if his role in AEW may have to be scaled back due to his condition.

I love William and have so much respect for him so hearing this is so sad,he deserves a happy and healthy future, maybe he should take some time away from the business and rest, the man is a gent and a hero to me so I really wish him and his family the best.

I know he had his additions and health problems from the ring as well. I think a few years ago he had neck surgery as well. I know his days as a wrestler have been long over with. I hope his run in AEW is something special and hope for the best from this.

This is scary and puts an even bigger twist on his speech going long and his apology. The fact that he said he "is not long for this world" in that promo worries me now.

Yeah, in retrospect there was something in that promo, talking about how he hasn't got much time left, and the line about him "sitting in the sun", and just how emotional it seemed for the guys in the ring... I have my suspicions but I don't want to throw around guesses. We'll find out soon.
To be honest, he's always been a favourite of mine, ever since I saw him jobbing on WCW Worldwide in Union Jack trunks. I just hope he enjoys the time he has left, and if I was a young guy in AEW I'd be asking his advice about everything.

Yeah, when he talked about having maybe ten to fifteen years, I believed him. I was reminded of Nigel McGuinness asking ROH fans if they wouldn't be happy until he was a dribbling idiot from concussion damage. Which was maybe five years before McGuinness had to retire due to concussion damage.
I also remember thinking that Regal was a bit young for Samoa Joe to already be getting groomed as his successor in NXT, so Regal's conviction explained that.

Ah Christ, not news I wanted to see. Regal's long been one of my all time favourites (pretty much since I first saw him perform back in 1999) so I'm hoping this is "Ole needs to retire from the business" and not "I am terminally ill" levels of bad health news to come.

I don't think there really needs to be much speculation about what this means (especially as he's supposedly talking more about it soon) as it's not really our business.
I wish nothing but the best for Regal. He's a tremendous performer, both in the ring and out, and seems like a genuinely nice guy, too.

Never heard the concussion stuff for Nigel...Always that it was the arm injury that kept him from signing with WWE then hepatitis B that ultimately ended his in ring career. Either way it's all sad as Nigel was one of my favorites as well. The "Almost Beautiful" song and montage used in the Last of McGuinness is haunting.

Nigel's body was so beat up there was no way he was passing the medical screening back then
